The only thing I've said is that the rich should be taxed more (as it is the tax rate for the rich is actually lower than when it was under Reagan, and it was already low then, and percentage wise the middle class takes a bigger hit when paying taxes) but that's only so this country won't become a third world hell hole. Colorado Springs has low tax rates and stuff is getting bad there.

Good commentary. I guess the only thing I'd point out is it really is not "class envy", since the people in Congress/Senate level make roughly 10 times the median income of the US citizen. And in many cases, their seats are more like entitlements (witness the Kenedys) and a continuation of their family's economic aspirations spilling into politics to ensure their assets are covered. Cllinton and Obama were self-made men, but that doesn't mean they have the common man in mind.

actually, there is no Supermajority. In order for there to be a SM, one party needs 60 seats in the Senate. Currently, with the recent election of Congressman Brown, the standing show 59D 41R... before 111th congress, the 95th congress was a supermajority. that was back in 1979.

bills get amended all the time. A lot of republicans pass bills because they amend certain legislation to the bill that they feel would support their own ethics.. actually, as a member of the US forces, i am glad Obama is changing the policies of the military. the "dont ask, dont tell" legislation is a joke. Banning non-heterosexuals from the military is hurting more than it is helping. Thousands of military members are kicked out of the military for being non-heterosexual. Once they are kicked, it costs more money to get someone trained up to that person's spot. Not to add that person could have be a valuable asset to the military.

1) the bill presenting english as an official language... there were democrats who were trying to help pass that bill. it didnt pass because the majority understand that we are a country of different backgrounds.
2) There were also some democrats wanting to repeal gun laws, and again the vast majority didnt want to lower the restrictions on guns.

As a someone who put over 10 years as a grunt and still serving in the guard I disagree with you about homos in the military... Were do you get the number "thousands" ? What is the time period of your statement?
FY08, 619 military members were discharged for being non-heterosexual. FY07: 627, FY06:612, FY05:726, FY04:653.. in Four years thats 3237 military members that were booted for being gay. it is estimated that it costs 400,000+ to train and to house/pay 1 member for 1 four year enlistment. thats $1,294,800,000 to replace those military members.
as always, I'm going to argue the points that are clearly incorrect. Also, some of these arguments are for your statements in the sidebar.
1) Not all the money spent on the banks has been repaid. This does not include interest. There are still some banks that received money from the government that has not paid most of their money back.
2) on the topic of "dont ask, dont tell". Are you sure that the military does not want to get rid of that part of the legislation?
As a military member, i find the Legislation to be Segregating to Fit Americans who are of the Homo/bisexual lifestyle. The Legislation prevents physically and mentally qualified non-heterosexuals from entering the military. It also kicks out people who are already well trained. Every time they kick someone out for being non-hetero, they have to spend thousands of dollars to train someone in that person's place. Let alone that person could have been a vital asset for the military.
3) the Supreme Court has different roles than The President and Congress. They do not make executive orders, and they do not make Congressional Laws. They are the Judiciary Part of the Triforce. They normally deem a law to be constitutional or not.
4) Republicans didnt have a supermajority during the Bush presidency. There hasnt been a supermajority since 1979 during the 95th congress and it was a democratic supermajority. So you saying that they were complaining about the republicans
having a supermajority is clearly ignorance on your part.
5) Obama is still fixing a lot of mess ups that the Bush administration created in its last year of office. The facts are there. He's just stating that he is still trying to fix another administrations problems.
6)Tax cuts did not pay for themselves under the bush admin. We still had a deficit, and bush still wanted to have tax cuts for the rich. Google "Tax cuts paid for under bush?" and you'll get plenty of research materials

Aha that's what I'm talking about. I never advocated giving everyone equal amounts of money. The only thing I've said is that the rich should be taxed more (as it is the tax rate for the rich is actually lower than when it was under Reagan, and it was already low then, and percentage wise the middle class takes a bigger hit when paying taxes) but that's only so this country won't become a third world hell hole. Colorado Springs has low tax rates and stuff is getting bad there.

Joe402....I'd have to disagree with you there. Bush had little experience RUNNING the Texas Rangers baseball team...he was hired for his name and political access to build a new stadium. He did little other than attend games, wave and collect 16 million off of a 400k investment. He'd previously run a couple of oil co's into the ground. Until we reduce political campaigns to a short cycle and limit their funds we can kiss working together goodbye. Term limits for congress would be a great idea also.

Good commentary. I guess the only thing I'd point out is it really is not "class envy", since the people in Congress/Senate level make roughly 10 times the median income of the US citizen. And in many cases, their seats are more like entitlements (witness the Kenedys) and a continuation of their family's economic aspirations spilling into politics to ensure their assets are covered. Cllinton and Obama were self-made men, but that doesn't mean they have the common man in mind.

A man in the USAF was getting a kidney stone removed, and during the operation, the doctor accidentally severed an artery in his leg... they didnt notice it at first. 22k a year for a mess up that the military doctor did. 22k a year can not be enough for his mental anguish and physical restrictions he'll face for the rest of his life.. this man was only 20 years old. did you know that military training instructors are already not allowed to curse at their trainees? Though it is already restricted, it is known by everyone that the basic training you go through is built to reshape you. If someone get upset when someone calls them a little fuck head or something of that nature, then they really should not be entering the military.

RE: Supermajority. Obama was complaining about the Republicans being "obstructionists." The Supermajority belongs to the Democrats, meaning the Republicans can obstruct all they want and it doesn't make a bit of difference because they don't have enough votes to block any Dem legislation.

actually, there is no Supermajority. In order for there to be a SM, one party needs 60 seats in the Senate. Currently, with the recent election of Congressman Brown, the standing show 59D 41R... before 111th congress, the 95th congress was a supermajority. that was back in 1979.

Actually.. Democrats are still reaching over party lines. Some of them agree with the polices and some of them dont. The republicans are currently showing devotion to the GOP and only the GOP. another example.. in Bill (H.R. 4314 ), proposed by the democrats, a single democrat saw it was in his state's best interests if the bill was not passed. Go look at the Senate's Legislation record, you'll find plenty of democrats who will vote against the majority of their own party..

bills get amended all the time. A lot of republicans pass bills because they amend certain legislation to the bill that they feel would support their own ethics.. Also, when i say holding your own ethics, i'm not saying that you should hold it with indestructible force. I'm saying you hold it up as your primary goal to not flush it down completely.

the reason why a lot of bills dont get passed is because someone disagrees with a part of the bill, not the full bill. this is where amendments come in. Completely blocking a bill that you only disagreed with a portion of the bill, is you being to arrogant.
Also, not willing to understand someone else's convictions and not willing to meet in the middle is not going to create progress for either side. Thats why shit doesnt get done in politics.

actually, as a member of the US forces, i am glad Obama is changing the policies of the military. the "dont ask, dont tell" legislation is a joke. Banning non-heterosexuals from the military is hurting more than it is helping. Thousands of military members are kicked out of the military for being non-heterosexual. Once they are kicked, it costs more money to get someone trained up to that person's spot. Not to add that person could have be a valuable asset to the military.

1) the bill presenting english as an official language... there were democrats who were trying to help pass that bill. it didnt pass because the majority understand that we are a country of different backgrounds.

FY08, 619 military members were discharged for being non-heterosexual. FY07: 627, FY06:612, FY05:726, FY04:653.. in Four years thats 3237 military members that were booted for being gay. it is estimated that it costs 400,000+ to train and to house/pay 1 member for 1 four year enlistment. thats $1,294,800,000 to replace those military members.

1) Not all the money spent on the banks has been repaid. This does not include interest. There are still some banks that received money from the government that has not paid most of their money back.

As a military member, i find the Legislation to be Segregating to Fit Americans who are of the Homo/bisexual lifestyle. The Legislation prevents physically and mentally qualified non-heterosexuals from entering the military. It also kicks out people who are already well trained. Every time they kick someone out for being non-hetero, they have to spend thousands of dollars to train someone in that person's place. Let alone that person could have been a vital asset for the military.

3) the Supreme Court has different roles than The President and Congress. They do not make executive orders, and they do not make Congressional Laws. They are the Judiciary Part of the Triforce. They normally deem a law to be constitutional or not.
4) Republicans didnt have a supermajority during the Bush presidency. There hasnt been a supermajority since 1979 during the 95th congress and it was a democratic supermajority. So you saying that they were complaining about the republicans

5) Obama is still fixing a lot of mess ups that the Bush administration created in its last year of office. The facts are there. He's just stating that he is still trying to fix another administrations problems.
6)Tax cuts did not pay for themselves under the bush admin. We still had a deficit, and bush still wanted to have tax cuts for the rich. Google "Tax cuts paid for under bush?" and you'll get plenty of research materials
