Actually, a lot of people still celebrate christmas even though they are athiest. Christmas has become a very secularized holiday, and while some families and individuals try to keep their religion in the holiday, the main stream christmas is all inclusive. I grew up in an agnostic environment. We celebrated christmas. Not because of religion, but because of tradition. That tradition includes saying marry christmas. I didn't even hear he nativity story till I was 15.
Atheist/Agnostic/non-believers make up 18% of the population here in Virginia, while those who celebrate Judaism only make up 1% of the population. So while he may think he was being noble , by including the Jews into his greeting, in essence he alienated 18% of the population for not saying two simple and easy words that not only would have pleased us, but also would have covered every other group there is, it's quite universal and VERY respectful of Everyone's beliefs ! Actually, a lot of people still celebrate christmas even though they are athiest. Christmas has become a very secularized holiday, and while some families and individuals try to keep their religion in the holiday, the main stream christmas is all inclusive. I grew up in an agnostic environment. We celebrated christmas. Not because of religion, but because of tradition. That tradition includes saying marry christmas. I didn't even hear he nativity story till I was 15.

Atheist/Agnostic/non-believers make up 18% of the population here in Virginia, while those who celebrate Judaism only make up 1% of the population. So while he may think he was being noble , by including the Jews into his greeting, in essence he alienated 18% of the population for not saying two simple and easy words that not only would have pleased us, but also would have covered every other group there is, it's quite universal and VERY respectful of Everyone's beliefs ! @bcourter82, uhhh it was Obama that promised the jobs.
The GOP's real private sector jobs are in there amendment to force Obama to make a decision on the Keystone XL Pipeline. that one project without a dime of Tax Payer money would generate over 20K jobs directly and more than 100K indirectly.
So get onto Obama about where is the jobs he promised... wait we know where they are... all are in the Government.

However, this was not the time or issue to stand our ground. What I'm mad about is that they didn't get out front on this issue and as always ended up in a defensive fight.
What they need to do is come out swinging in January first thing and push for this to become a tax cut for the rest of the year...

Better yet make it for 18 months to give time for a Republican Administration to get some things going. ALSO, add things to it such as sensible energy policy with severe restrictions on Socialist Policies disguise as EPA regulations. Put the Dems along with their DSA and Progressive Caucus on the defensive for a change.

Your reaction is what the gutter fighters count on. Obama never waged a fair fight or fair campaign in his entire sorry life. This dirty deal was set up long ago. I had high hopes for the Repubs even though I knew it would be a hard fight with the press being in bed with the Obama Administration but Reagan had it just as tough and he was able to do it. Repubs... pull out the old playbook and start running the ball. No yardage is ever gained by constantly throwing the ball out of bounds.

they could have won this fight in a big way if they had just coordinated their efforts with the Rupubs in the Senate and picked the fight there on both the one year extension and the pipeline. they should have trumped the Dems by going for an 18 month extension and then once we have a Repub Administration put in place a plane that saves SS and fully funds it.
