  • what would space ritual have sounded like if HLL had stayed with the band? We will never know......

  • fantastic !

  • have Genesis ever played any of PG's stuff then ?

  • Thanks so much for your video,

Saw it at the time and was hugely excited to see Hawkwind actually on tv.

Great to see it again. :-)

  • I was at this filming of ECT. The studios were near Stonebridge Park Tube Station in north west London, and on the North Circular Road. We sent away for tickets from Channel 4 and went to about three ECT's. Hawkwind were supposed to headline but a band called Warrior were given the top slot at the last minute. This version of The Right Stuff is just so awesome and remains my favourite Hawkwind Video.

  • Me cae que a quien no le gusta esto, es puto

  • saw this when it was shown on TV in 85, thought it was awesome, hooked on the hawks since... SUPERB!! nice one hawkboy farenheit451

  • I never thought I'd see this again. BRILLIANT!

  • Love it! There are TWO rare things to see in this video: Clive Deamer on drums and Alan Davey with all his hair! (Sorry Al!)

  • Ahh, the Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion, or Fusion III ? Nice catch btw :)

  • Its a Gibson Howard Roberts. And a bloody lovely one too.

  • I've played Huw's Howard Roberts Fusion (MK1) and indeed it is a beauty. I offered to swap him my ES335 for it and he told me to fuck off! LOL

  • I might be wrong (and usually am), but I think Huw is playing a Gibson Blueshawk.

  • Gibson Howard Roberts is what it is.....

  • "We like smoking the right stuff you know....."

  • what year was this?

  • 1985

  • The right stuff indeed

  • If I remember correctly (I can't have been there, right...), they should have closed with Brainstorm but that got punted for the band that followed, the ultimately forgettable Warrior. Unremarkable metal dressed in costumes modelled on Klingon armour, or something like that. A criminal use of record company influence if ever there was one.

  • been a hawkwindite for over 25 yrs and still cant get enough of them.goin again to holme firth in april then devon in august, see you all there.onward flies the bird.

  • And what about the lead gutarist's axe ?

  • I dont know about Huw Lloyd Langtons guitar but dave is playing a westone spectrum I believe. great guitars !

  • Thank you.

  • Does anybody know what kind guitar is Dave using ?

  • Cool! I remember catching this on TV around 1985 and having it on VHS for a number of years. This was the first time I heard The Right Stuff too.

    Nice upload thanks :)

  • Good band,good lead guitarists

  • Good Stuff, i have the whole of the ECT series on VHS, trasfering it to DVD at the moment along with my entire 8000 odd hours taped off TV over the years.

  • Hi, glad you like my upload :-)

You are indeed very fortunate to have the whole series !!!

Like harrybails requests...is there any chance you could upload the Venom set from ECT please ? Please mail me if you do :-)

  • You'll find the venom set if you type in "venom live 1985".Should be at the top. Smokin the right stuff eh? might end up getting this clip flagged. On a more serious note anyone know what kind of guitar dave is using?

  • ahh.. I had forgotten about the ect programme.. was a good show..some great bands.. can anyone post the venom show Id love to see that again

  • I saw this lineup,this tour,they were superb.

  • If i remember correctly, they repeated this a week later, and cut out Brock's reference to "smoking the right stuff, you know" at the end of the song. Early eighties i'd say.

  • Does anyone still have any full ECT shows that they can put on disc to trade??

  • Does anyone know the original broudcast date? Also trying to find the dates for some other E.C.T. programmes.

  • two e's quater of skunk and space ritual :)

  • Crikes, Alan Davey looks as if he has just left school, obviously not smoked enough of the right stuff yet ;o)

Seriousy though, thanks for posting, I remember this being on telly but my video of it died years ago.

  • This IS The Right Stuff man :)

Roll on Dec for the tour. w00t!

  • heard Hawkwind and Atomic Rooster will be touring together this summer

  • It doesn't mention anything about this on the Hawkwind home-page mate ?

  • What albums are these from? I need more 80s Hawkwind, I really like Huw's playing

  • Huw is an amazing guitarist ! :-)

Angels of Death came from a studio album called Sonic Attack. The Right Stuff is actually a Robert calvert song. It came from an odd-ball album called Captain Lockheed and the Starfighters. Good luck with you Hawkwind adventures, for me Space Ritual was their finest moment. Huw had left the band by that point though. He has played on and off with them from day one I believe.

  • Victim: If you want more Calvert stuff, check out HeidiLandRover's films on YouTube :¬)

    Ey-up Hawkboy ;¬)

  • Harvey looks like Spinal tap's keyboard player here!! Good performance from the 'Lords

  • Blimey, Old Brock seems to be doing a Bryan Ferry impersonation! Calvert does it better - now where's my Captain Lockheed album?

  • I remember when this was on T.V, good clip of 80's Hawkwind.

    Thanks for uploading

  • thank you for the uploading m8

  • brilliant...hit the stars motherfuckers!

  • Glad to see you like it mate :-) Huw Lloyd Langton at his very finest ! What a band....

  • good to see this has been uploaded again
