I dont think the escape is a full framed chassis, it is a unibody chassis. So its chassis is like a car not a rugged truck/explorer/jeep etc. Not a very good idea to be doing any serious offroading with a unibody chassis its much to weak and would easily be tweaked if things got a bit rough out on the trail.

Is just for emergency, i mean if you are over sand and want to be out just turn on the 4x4, but to have fun over dunes for example, is not a good idea.

My grandma has one and lets me take it up to the mountain sometimes since my Rabbit sit about 2 and a half inches from the ground, lol. But it does GREAT offroad, but you are correct, Ford or SOMEBODY please make a mass-produce lift kit for these babies. They're great rigs.

I have an Escape and it does very well in the mud and the snow. The biggest problem is the low ground clearance. I wouldn't take it on rough terrain because with my luck I would break an axle or bust the oil pan.

Maybe you can find a lift kit tor a Mazda 626 sedan. It's the same vehicle. In fact I think you can get a 626 AWD or 4WD, might be even better. Imagine off roading in a 4 door sedan!

The back wheel axle on the escape is way too low, you can easily hit the axle when climbing rocks.

Yes my friend, that is a 2007 year and is a V6 whit 200 hp. It´s aa very smart choice. It´s big, safe and have a inteligent 4wd, that is great for mug and snow and beach.
