  • I ALREADY HAVE A POWER COMMANDER AND FULL EXHAUST. SOMEONE SAID I CAN CHANGE THE SPROCKETS. HOW DOES THAT WORK FOR A V-TWIN

  • how can i make my tl 1000r fast as a inline 4, can ANY HELP ME

  • @hottsawz03 buy a 4 or enjoy the sound of the V

  • Not the fastest or most beautiful but the sound....fucking by far the best sounding twin with a full yosh system....nothing even comes close.

  • my frist bike was a tl 1000

  • love this bike it was my firar bike

  • TLs are about riding. the sound alone is worth it, and tuned right, they keep up with the 600s just fine. my superduke is just about the same thing (just not as reliable) and i put on a set of heads from the r model and finally got it tuned on a dyno (128rwhp). i haven't got the revs, i stay even with my boys 08 r6, maybe pull away a bit till the aero takes over. TLs have fairings, so ur good. out of corners, keeps with the liters fine. most liters are posers anyway, can't max it out cept str8.

  • beautiful sound, beautiful bike

  • And they say the top speed was around 160 not true :)

  • I own a tlr and they corner just fine.

  • I bought today a BEAUTIFUL TL1000R !!!! :) and i loooove it! :) the sound of it :P waaaau :)

  • World's best TL 1000 :)

  • I've ridden a GSX-R 1300 Hayabusa after riding only a Yamaha DT125R with 20hp for 2 years. It was so easy to handle and very user friendly. Great first bike if you ask me :)

ZX10-R Kawasaki is much harder to turn in walking speeds, your hand tends to hit the fuel tank and you freak out when you need to accelerate to balance it.

And the weak idle means either stalling it or as inexperienced the throttle is too sensitive and you might rev it to 4-5k accidentally.

  • @eamh2002 "ZX10-R Kawasaki is much harder to turn in walking speeds" --> I have the same problem with my X-11....mainly because the turning circle is way to damn large...i don't know if thats the case on a ZX10R...is it?

  • @deromegadrei

Yeah! My hand even hit the fuel tank before maximum steering lock :D

It's a good bike though, with a titanium/carbon Akrapovic the sound is very nice, and it's stable at higher speeds.

  • @eamh2002 Couldnt you fix that by getting one of those superlow handle bars that are a bit straighter?

  • shite, who said dont get one if you are a novice , its all about control, any idiot can wack open the throttle , and get thrown off, if your a novice im sure you will treat it with respect, and learn as you go..

  • @philjit1 lol i can't remember a single rider that 'held back' when riding a big bike. Better to squeeze out everything you can on a 250, than to shit yourself on a Busa.

  • @JeroenLondon Ofcourse as you gain experience you'll want to go look for the next step.

  • @JeroenLondon haha....so true...

  • You guys keep saying won't keep up with 1000s I have a Tl and that's all I ride with couple of kids with 750s or 954 I pull just about everyone of them except for two of the kids o.e has a busa and the other is a gsxr1000 but the r1 not and issue. A lot faster then Yall think.

  • @SHTINONCHEVY I guess it depends on the rider as well :) I can dust GSXR1000's on the straight....but i dunno if I can follow a decent rider through turns haha :P

  • Never been a fan of the TL looks, the rear end is one of the most designed challenged sportbikes ever made. But this one makes sweet music.

  • WIDOW MAKER!!

  • I hate the back of those damn bikes. looks like a Bike with a Tumor

  • Love the sound! Full Yosh system, or just bolt on RS3s?

  • the BEST suzuki ever ( in my book)

  • huge bike and huge sound

  • i like him cause it reminds me bit on hayabusa with look, but sound...not my style, when u pull gas bike must scream

  • pretty good

  • Best. Sounding. Twin. Ever!

  • @PrivateCustard Don't forget the Honda RC51 :P

  • The GSXR k1 1000 has more toque then the TLR. Ive owned both. Trusht me i Love the TLR and want one againg. But the gsxr 1000 simply just has soooooooo much more power you cant belive it.

  • it's better than the 1198 sound... =)

  • That shit looks like its going kill me before i even get on. I want one

  • ha, i guess its just my ego talking. and this is my favorite bike.

  • There are only a few bikes that sound better than a TL1000 engine - especially when riding through tunnels... The TL1000R isn't the fastest thing on two wheels, it's quite heavy and the rear shock is bollocks (you have to get a fully adjustable Ohlins and then the rear does what it's supposed to do - this is even more important on the TL1000S BTW).

The only bike I'd consider ahead of this is an Aprilla RSV - another loud beast of a v-twin :-)

  • @siamzenglobal Honda Rc51, talk about a brutal sound :P

  • Is that a large seat cowl on the back? Or some type of compartment?

  • You're absolutely correct....

Regardless, Suzuki should consider bringing it back with some revisions. Love this bike!

  • people need to learn about bikes more...... THIS BIKE IS ONE F THE FASTEST BIKES PERIOD not in a straight line though. there torque monsters. straight line a 1000cc i4 will kill it. bur in the right hands it will beat just about anything through the twistys. torque makes it a monster thrugh the turns because your always in the power band

  • i went down 1 tooth in the front on my tl1000s so it would wheelie almost off idle but i could only hang with 750's but not 1000's

  • Thats one tidy TLR you have there, nice bike, sounds the nuts too :-).

  • It didn't get it's other nickname "Widow Maker" for no reason. The "Tiller" can run with the best of them on the street, even by today's standards. If you're looking for pure speed, look elsewhere. But for a pretty good bike on the street, it would be my personal choice.

  • @ThanosByNight

It was really only the TL1000S that got called the widow maker I think.

  • @ThanosByNight It's a good bike, yes, but I have to mates fo have one, and they say their TLR's don't corner too well, mainly because they're too heavy. One of the guys had a Fazer1000 and he said that could easily outcorner a TLR....but then again...a Fazer doesn't sound half as good as a TLR :P

  • u need to do some carb work either get smaller needles so it doesnt fall on its face when u quickly accel..

  • @nicholas22288 hahaha this bike has injection, no carbs my friend :)

  • i've read that the gxr1000 is faster than the TL, but that the TL has way more torque. that being said, can you change the sprocket on the TL and therefore reducing the torque but overall make it a faster bike? faster than the gxr1000? has anyone here changed the sprocket on a TL?

  • @ivanisstealth

It has nothing to do with top speed, a modern 1000cc sport bike has almost 40hp more than a TL1000R. The TL1000R was designed in 1998 and is antiquated at best. Almost everyone who owns a TL1000R does a rear sprocket. But its to assist in acceleration not top speed

  • @lightningdusten How can we convince suzuki to produce another big twin sportbike? The sv1000s was ok, but the tlr reigns supreme.

  • @lightningdusten

I think the horsepower rating of the TL has more to do with the engine type, than the period of manufacture. Big twins rev low and slow and make torque, four stroke inline fours rev fast and high and make horsepower. I bet if Suzuki had continued to develop their big twin, it would make considerably more power today.

  • @ivanisstealth The TL1000R was already a bit slower than 1998 GSXR750

  • @ivanisstealth whats the point i bet ur newer gonna drive that fast anyways its fast enought

  • @ivanisstealth

There is a company in Germany which provides a Big Bore Kit which gives the bike 1200cc...having done all possible modifications like exhaust system, camshaft , electronics and so on you can get about 165 hp out of this engine. I,ve got a cagiva Raptor which has the Tl1000s Engine (roughly the same engine but more torque an just 111hp), after a few modifications it pumps out about 120 hp, and ive got to say its a pretty awesome engine:-).

  • @ivanisstealth The TL does not have way more torque. The torque is just a little bit lower down than a 1000cc I4. By changing a sprocket you arent changing the torque output of the motor. You wont change the torque unless you go into the motor, or map the fueling.

  • @ivanisstealth

The TL made about 90-100 torques for all years I think. The new gix1k's make about 90-100lbs as well. The new liter bikes by all makers with sportbike rep are just incredible beasts. I honestly think we are living in a golden age of 4 stroke sportbikes right now.

  • got my tlr 4 sale its in mint condition on a 99 plate any1 interested?

  • Awesome piece of machinery man...

    A mans bike indeed!

  • amazing...fucking great...TLR forever..

  • id love one

  • how fast are these things?, lol i know thats not really something i should be asking... but also is this a good beginner bike? i might have read it wrong but i was recommened this bike as a beginners, i know i should start off on a 250 but i heard you grow out of them quickly, and just dont have enough power for some situatuions

  • @XxUnknownxX8 In a word no. First off, the bike has a very unique power band, and because its 7 years old, it requires more maintenance than most

  • @lightningdusten ok, lol i must have read it wrong, or he just doesnt know much

  • @XxUnknownxX8 Sv 650 great learner bike. get one

  • @lightningdusten

what kind of maintenance? (so i 'll know what to watch out for and look after it)

    thanks~~!

  • @lightningdusten

what maintenance does it need? (so i can better look after it) thanks~

  • @xxunknownxx8 I cant stress this enough a 1000 is never a good beginner bike. If you dont want to start on a 250 you dont have to you can start off on a 600 to get all your learning kinks out. A 1000 has way to much power for a beginner bike and nonetheless is not forgiving if you hit the pavement.

  • @BiguyonR6 oh hell i even commented on the wrong video, i know to never start on a 1000, i meant to comment on a suzuki 650v i think it was, sorry :P

  • i'm hunting for a TL at the moment, seen one recently, the guy who was selling it had 1 year riding experience and could not ride it because it was way too fast...

  • @XxUnknownxX8 if you want to die then buy one, get a aprillia rs 125 or 2 stroke 250 and learn your trade, dont run before you can walk mate, or you will end up dead, bikes should be treated with respect because the will bite you quicker then you can blink if you dont, especially a tl, they dont call them widow makers for nothing, they are very hard to ride and to get used to, and because they are a vtwin have a diffrent kind of power then a normal bike, you need a bit of experience for these

  • @XxUnknownxX8, No these bikes are not good beginner bikes. I had a Katana 600 as my first bike and even with that bike I was getting in trouble and always laying ti down. The TL has gobs of torque and is a heavy bike. You really should be experianced before you own one.

  • @XxUnknownxX8

    TL's are fast enough.

My TL costs me a lot of money to keep it running.

Far from a beginner bike, very unforgiving imho, get a 600 inline 4, like a CBR or something like that.

  • @XxUnknownxX8 They are fast as hell, but won't keep up with a traditional 4cylinder liter bike like a GSXR1000, CBR1000RR, etc. It will however blow the doors off of most cars and should run about a mid 10 in the quarter mile. They handle well, ride well, and low end torque from the v-twin makes it a blast, but a terrible beginner bike. You'll kill yourself. Get a GSXR600

  • Comment removed

  • @46ace i meant to put that comment on the 650, because people were saying it was an ok starting bike. But if i were to buy a starter id prob get a ex500 or hyosung 250

  • @XxUnknownxX8 Sorry none of my "bidness"...stunned comment removed..

  • @XxUnknownxX8 Topspeed of TL1000R is about 260kmh. 165mph

  • @Horngrodis my naked bike keeps up with that then :) and then just leaves it behind hehe

  • @XxUnknownxX8 tl 1000 for beginners lol!

  • @XxUnknownxX8 fast enough. but do NOT get this as a beginner bike, its not the easiest to handle by miles, the powers incredible due to the high torque, ive had 400's 500's 600's and a couple of 1000's and i now have one of these, and ive gotta say, im glad i have the experience of the other bikes, i mean it doesnt have the same top speed as a inline4 but goddamn she makes up for it in shityourpants acceleration and pure brute.

  • @XxUnknownxX8 They run around 160-170.

  • @XxUnknownxX8

YOU WHAT??...yeah a beginners bike if you want to crash and burn who the FK said it was a nice 'beginers' bike?!

It has a very unique delivery of torque that just comes on very low down its a brutal old tec bike that even MCN say is for 'experts and nutters only'

  • @999Dempsey yeah, totally right! The TL1000R has also been nicknamed "The Widowmaker" for a reason :P

  • @XxUnknownxX8

    Get a zxr400 ;)

  • @XxUnknownxX8 Dont buy a 250 if your overe 5'8 and 180lbs you'll hate it buy a cb600 or a sv650 youll waste your money on a toy bike. Hell my dirt bike is faster than a 250 and thats in the dirt

  • @tank5617 I had a CB600F and I'm 6'4, that thing had to get out of my garage within a month!

  • @deromegadrei hahaha that sucks

  • @tank5617 I took care of the problem well though, and bought myself an X-11 Honda :P

  • parcai ATV :)))

  • awesome bike...awesome sound

  • that thing sounds nasty man...

  • Such a beautiful bike. great sound too, love the v twin

  • beautiful sound

  • what undertail is that? nice bike dude

  • @arghone I wish i knew, it was on there when i bought it, and finding parts for it was impossible

  • I just bought one, has the ugly stock one on it. From looking around since I asked, I'd say its a "pimpbikes" undertail... could be wrong tho. Do doubt someone will correct me on here ;)

  • Like Riding Thunder!!!

  • Tillers rock!

  • I'm missing my TL right now...I gotta get another job quick and get my baby back on the road

  • i know the feeling with the sound i have a tlr with akrapoviks can and stainless link pipes and headers and is is so loud my ears ring after

  • dude i got full D&D's on mine..my ears ring AND im wearing earplugs

  • man i love the sound of these bikes

  • nice sound

  • i love those. is that an '01?

  • looks like a baby busa

  • @JayzBeerz its the busa daddy

  • nice bike

my dad used to have one with 20k mods on it, it was so much louder than that

  • i'll pass on it being any louder. it already made my wifes ears ring when she rode on the back

  • lol my passengers gotta wear earplugs

  • dude i got D&Ds on mine and holy fuck...I ride with earplugs in and they still ring

  • Where did you mount your rear turn signals?

  • they are in the undertail

  • Oh, what kind of undertail do you have? I want to get one but don't feel like messing with transistors and stuff b/c the turn singals will blink too fast and fail inspection

  • it was a MOTEC, they no longer produce it.

  • Nice setup man... that bike is really clean. I love how they look... what is its top speed?

  • it was rpm limited to 172mph

  • It don't get better than that! Best colour and what an awesome look machine gotta be happy with that mate!

  • hi your tl sounds sweet ,my sv 1000 s with akrapovics is almost as good

  • What's the RPM's at idle?

  • 1200ish

  • that's my dream bike, soooo sick man

  • Has he checked the regulator on the bike, I know suzukis suffered with a few faulty reg's and that had the effect of draining the battery

  • the bike has had most of the wiring replacced, along with most electronics, she's tip top

  • Im an r1 man but dude that is a nice lookin TLR sounds the part to keep it safe!

  • My brother just bought a used bike just like this one. Something is draining his battery and we can't figure out what it could be. We thought it was the park light being left on but he is making sure it is off. Any suggestions?

  • Alternator probably bikes(especialy used) quite often have alternator prbolems sometime its just a few wires need reconnecting

  • Check the bulbs, if he is running aftermarket blue or other colored bulbs, they could be too much wattage for the bike. Trust me, it cost me two sets of bulbs before I figured that one out. Try putting stock bulbs back in and see if that helps.

  • hey if he didnt fix it yet i have a 2000 SV-650 and about a month after getting it the stator went out and and whould kill it after about 80 miles and i think the stator going out it a suzuki think or maybe just a suzuki v-twin thing but if you do change it check on the battry that its not over heating because the votage regulator went out on mine the mane time as the statorand i had to buy 2 new batrys in like 3 weeks and fucked up the ecu and is like $300 unless you find one on ebay like i did

  • and my tach still doesnt work so yeh i hope this helps you well your brother but whatever lol

  • there is most likely a hole in the battery- mine had one in it...it happens because the bike's battery is on its side and the bike has been weelied to hard and it develops a hole

  • Use iridium spark plugs instead of standard platinum plugs. Trust me it makes a big difference. I have owned 3 of these bikes and the iridium plugs draw less current, and they last 3x longer.

  • I have a Yamaha R1 that had the same problem. It was the rectifier

  • beautifull bike chap, enjoy the riding....

  • I want one so bad

  • 442 dry. aprilia 407. r1 381. bring other bikes lets do it

  • so, he's got me on skill, power and weight... i'll pass.

And i only know 1 other sport bike, a 954rr

  • i think its time for jeremy's aprilia and this TL to race. i get winner

  • i suck something fierce, and he's got me by 20hp

  • dont beleive the claimed aprilia hp. whats your dry weight?

  • i dont need dry weight, my bike has been weight, 475 without me on it.

  • Yoshi full system? i've got slip ons on my TL-R

  • Who needs viagra, when you can listen to that sound?! :)

  • Almost better than mine.

  • right....

  • Bike sounds don't get better than this.

I could listen to this clip over and over.

  • orgasmic bike

  • I've watched lots of movies bout TL, but have to tell you all this is the best one at all! Absolutely great sounds as quality is well! I would believe in real it must be so much more better to hear this great TL:)

  • Beautiful bike!! I've got a TL with the same pipes as well, nice to see another obviously well taken care-of TL!!

  • Sounds awesome, my friend has a TLS with the same pipes I love it!

  • sounds sweet
