  • This is shameful and it could easily happen to me or my family members. I hate living in fear that if I get sick I could lose everything.

My father has a heart condition and the company he works with is laying off workers. If he loses his job Idk how he'll be able to afford care.

  • That's sad... What are you doing U.S.A.! Move to Canada!

  • yeah I agree that is pretty shitty about that happened to her.. still though, "reforming" the system by socializing it is not the answer. Yeah it's true it may help a few people pay their medical bills, but overall the tax burden is so great that it ends up breaking the rest of us. Healthcare reform isn't the federal government's job. It's each state's insurance department's job to regulate insurance practices. Reform needs to take place at the state level, not the federal level.

  • Oh please. Look, we can pay for it by raising taxes a little for the highest income brackets. Have the state governments reformed health care? No. It's gotten so bad that the federal government HAS to. The overall tax burden, according to the projections I've seen, are not going to be that huge. Esp. if it's coming of of the backs of millionaires, and not working folks.

  • 80% of the wealth is controlled by 1% of the population. I think they can spare a bit.

  • My point exactly!

The idea that THIS is going to break the budget is insane. However, it is stuff like this that ends up actually helping the economy.

  • Every other industrialized country in the world has it and believe me, we couldn't be happier that we're not like you. Also your belief that the tax burden of single payer healthcare is too great betrays an increadible ignorance of not only the cost involved but the way your government has been spending your money. With 47 million more people chipping in and no need to worry about the 30% profit of your insurance companies (do the math that's alot) it actually works out to be cheaper for you.

  • Have you ever taken a basic economics class?

  • lucky if i got cancer my treatment would be free ... y .. cause i am an australian under public heath care... i lucky... here we have private insurance if u are upper-middle class or higher cause if u earn over 70k pa u got to pay a lot in tax to be under public system so we have 1/3 of health care private but seeing how if private denys u.. they wouldnt be competitive with public care so they have to pay out ... yeah for 2/3 universal health care!!!

  • THIS JUST ISN"T RIGHT.

We need Universal Healthcare NOW! Americans are suffering! What more proof do Americans need?!

    KEEP FIGHTING...WE WILL WIN !!!!!!!!!

  • We will get there!!! I have to keep the belief that we will get there. I know we are better than this as a society!

  • DONT GIVE UP ADRIAN, YOU'RE AN HEROIN NOW !!!

It would be sad if your family get bankrupt, or if your daughter may have to grown without her mother !

    I believe in you !

  • And not only in you !

  • Thank you!!!

  • For the truth (not scare tactics and lies) about real reform, just google for the phrase "single payer facts pnhp"

  • OBVIOUSLY MICHAEL MOORE KNEW!!!

  • Adrian Campbell-Montgomery ...

CANCER CURE = RICK SIMPSON'S HEMP OIL

  • Adrian, you need to look for a list of Superfund sites in your area and make sure you are not living in one or downwind of one. Doctors never look for causes of cancer because they protect polluters that are parent companies to the Medical Insurance companies. The doctor show "House" is propaganda to make people think there are people looking out for toxins in the environments of the sick. This is a lie. Doctors will avoid any info that can be used to litigate. Protect yourself.

  • Textynn, Your statement is a generalization.. I see it as an attempt to pit people against the medical community. You must remember that many of us are fighting for single-payer healthcare to become a reality. Lose the attitude, adopt some gratitude.

  • MY statement is not a generalization. It is a complete and total fact. I was working unknowingly in a Superfund site and became very sick. My doctors refused to do tests on me regarding my concerns even when I brought them paperwork from the EPA. My provider is Group Health, who is Kaiser Permanente, who is Kaiser Aluminum who is operating work site super fund site in my town. Hence the name switcheroo in my town. my dad worked in the 70s as a Black Lung judge after this problem went rampant

  • Single Payer is the only humane way. For-Profit health care is the argument of providing a means of extortion for the Elite. End the Extortion.

  • One reason the republicans hate the idea of universal health care is because it will free some people from having to work a full time job.

Republicans want total control of people's lives. When they become aware that there is a crack in the system of capitalist slavery, they make sure to fix it.

One recent example is the internet gambling bill. Hordes of young kids had the wage slave system beat, earning 6 figures a year playing online poker. The republicans moved quickly to ban it.

  • You call this "Change We Can Believe In" President Obama? o_O ??

  • I feel sorry to hear stories like this, and I'm not even an American.

I wonder if bush can feel the same way as me!?

  • Jeepo: I'm in the same predicament. DH & I are among the "Uninsurable." Ins co's won't insure us at all. On 1/23-24/09 DH suffered mild & massive heart attack, stroke, & required quadruple bypass surgery. He can't work. Since MI's, stroke, & surgery, his juvenile diabetes is out of control. Dr says it's not unusual. He's taking some 8-10 injs a day, testing sugars 10-15x a day. He can't do anything inc walk for more than 20mins w/o having pain. We're living on my SSDI & have 1 kid stilll @ home.

  • Our second child is 21, almost 22yo & she's in college now. About 3 mos ago she finally moved completely away from home. It was hard but I knew it was time. Now we've got to get her little sister through middle sch, then high sch, & finally into college. The little one makes all As on her report cards & has since 1st grade so we're working hard to keep her grades high so she might qualify for a scholarship to cover her college education. Our oldest has ADD, heart prob from birth, & bad hip.

  • The reporter looks like she came all the way from the 70's!

She's beautiful, but she looks like 70ish

  • Wake up people. The us is owned by corporate america. This has been going on for generations. The insurance companys and drug companys have paid millions in bribe money to our politicians. Do you really think our senators and rep. our really going to vote against their corporations. They have the money and power. The insurance companys will wright our new health care plan.i will gaurantee, that plan will not be in the best inerest of the american people. Rise up americans, take your country back.

  • The vested interests in the US will make sure that public opinion turns against single payer health care. There is too much at stake - insurance companies want to keep making money by denying coverage.

  • Guy from England here.

I am constantly hearing on the news about the American 'health-care reform'.

Can an American give me their perspective on whether the majority of the US population want universal-healthcare or not, and their own opinion on the matter if you so wish.

If universal care is not the goal, what is this reform trying to achieve?

    Any replies greatly appreciated.

  • polls say that 70% of americans want reform..........but the politicians keep dragging their feet

  • Reform what exactly, do Americans want a universal system?

  • I sure as hell do.

  • I hope you get what you deserve.

  • no they wanna keep paying.

  • SunRiseLT, the "reform" Congress is performing is not actually reform. It's just something to try to shut what they believe as ignorant people up. They haven't gotten the memo, yet, that we don't want their private insurance card shuffle of a deal!! All Congress is doing is making things worse by making doctors and hospitals have to cut-back, yet, continue letting private insurers dominate. We want SINGLE-PAYER UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE (HR 676) and nothing else will do!!!

  • Thanks for the reply.

In my opinion, i feel as though our distant cousins have been fed a proportionate amount of propaganda concerning universal-care, ie Mr Reagan's LP.

A lot of Americans i have spoken to make the distinction that uni-care is only for 'The Reds', and see any form of universal-care as a step closer towards the hammer and sickle.

    Which truly saddens me.

I hope you get what you deserve.

  • You're welcome.

  • with whats going on in washington, she may as well pick out her coffin

  • So you admit the US does *not* have the world's best healthcare system?

She has had to travel to Canada to get health treatment posing as the common-law wife of one of her friends in Canada. She had been paying for healthcare insurance here, but her insurance company decided that Adrian would be another one they would cash-in on. She was denied healthcare although she was paying for it.

  • Abhorrent.

  • if you pay money for it, someone makes money off it. then greed kicks in!!!!

  • the problems is right wingers just dont give a shit about people like this.

  • Like Thom Hartmann says, the most important skill set a CEO can have is being a sociopath.

  • Our healthcare system is a disgrace.

Funny isn't it how those "Compassionate Consevatives" have no compassion for the sick or needy. They're always for meddling in other countries business and war though, and see nothing wrong with insurance and drug companies making excessive profits.

I wonder why they have such a problem with taking care of their own?

Single payer is not socialism, it's taking care of your fellow human beings in their time of need.

  • teasea3152

"Compassionate Conservative"? I doubt that there are many still around.

And I find it hilarious that right-wingers have to add the word "compassionate" to their name, thus admitting that normally Conservatives aren't compassionate.

  • What a sick country we live in. The people who live here get cheated by their insurance companies by just getting sick. It's amazing what CEO's will do to save a dime. I wonder how many people were robbed by their insurance companies this year. Yet if a kid steals a car he gets three -seven years in prison. If someone dies from an insurance denial the ceo gets a bonus and a pat on the back!

  • Hey Michael,

John Stossel is going to be running another propaganda filled hit piece about the Canadian and British health care systems tomorrow night on 20/20. The disinformation campaign is in full swing.

  • In a country that claims to be a 'christian' nation, they sure have a funny way of treating their sick and their poor.

  • @killerbandit A 'Christian" nation? Are you fucking serious? This country is run by the fucking Jews, NO ONE else has a say, we live according to THEIR way, not ours! :-<

  • @FlyersHockeyPride ....oh fun, one of you nuts that thinks the jews run everything. It's all those jewish presidents and public representatives right?....

Give me a break buddy. No one disputes that there is a jewish influence on the American culture but they hardly run shit.

  • @killerbandit Since you're a pussy and have me blocked like the coward you are, don't kid yourself, the fucking Jews run almost EVERYTHING and never want us to forget how THEY died in the Holocaust! Was it wrong? No question, but people of ALL races DIED in those camps as well as Allied soldiers too...

See how long they'd be friends with us if we cut off the ton of aid they get EVERY year..our economy SUCKS...we can't afford this shit anymore! :-/

  • @FlyersHockeyPride - You aren't blocked, you can leave a comment on my page but you need to be on my friend list to send me a message.

You won't get an argument from me about aid to Isreal, its garbage and just help stir the hornets nest in the middle east.

That doesn't mean they run the country.

  • OMG you are so stupid.

First. The bill proposed right now only has a public option that will compete with the private insurance companies. If people like Insurance companies they will stay. If they like/need public they will stay/go there.

You calling it "communist" health care is petty politics. Fucking petty.

Do you want the troops to have private health insurance? And the elderly? Because both of them have "communist" health care.

    Are you denigrating the troops?

  • which military? the troops or the veterans? do i want VA healthcare?

what about Native American healthcare.. that is govt healthcare. they say get sick before june because after that they run out of money.

look.. this is just the first stage that they sell to idiots like yourself. you gobble it up none the wiser. look at you... throwing saul alinsky arguments around like they were your trailer park rental agreement papers.

  • Repugs: "Healthcare for the sick isnt Christlike but owning a gun is"....LOL!!!!!

  • Repugs? you replied to me... why bring up repugs? (**looks around** ... is IndiDork implying I am a republican?)

let me guess... public school education? you drink plenty of fluoride huh? LOL you people are clowns.

  • I live in Canada. Our system is flawed, but I tell you what. It is far better than the system in the US.

FAAARRRRRR better. That's not just me talking. That's the UN. It's one reason we are ranked higher than you on the HDI.

You have no idea how single payer would work. You just use scare tactics and play politics because you are a cynic. You know the HMO's could care less about if you live or die. They'd prefer die. Then they wouldn't have to give up a profit.

  • you have made multi incorrect assumptions. but let me ask you this.. you love canadian healthcare... how often have you sought care in the USA?

and as far as referencing the UN rankings, that right there tells me you are a dupe.. a koolaid drinker par excellence. you are a sheep amongst wolves and you think their doggie suit is real. i suggest you go watch roadrunner.

  • What are my "multi incorrect assumptions"? By the by, "multi" is a prefix. Not a word by itself. Multiple, I believe, is what you wanted to say.

I haven't needed to. I have perfectly fine healthcare here. However, I have family who has had trouble with the system and contemplated moving back to Canada because of it.

Oh, the UN, I forgot how stupid they are. I keep forgetting that youtubers are smarter than the WHO and the UN as a whole.

You have Glenn Beck favourited...that tells me enough.

  • "by the by"? are you a guy or not?

re: multi ..it is a short cut. this is youtube, get over it.

and you have never received care in the usa but you think it is bad? oh wait... your brother's inlaws' third cousin got a splinter and boo hoo she went to the ER but there were too many illegal aliens in the waiting room so she cried. (we know you watched sicko)

and yes, i am smarter than the UN and the WHO. obviously you aren't and will drink their poison (or take their shots ...same thing)

  • "by the by" wat does this have to do with my sex?

    I was j/king home slice.

I have watched SiCKO and you have no evidence to contradict it. Splinter? How about cancer.

Haha, you, smarter than the UN and the WHO? Hahahaha. You may be stupid, but you sure are funny.

  • to do with your sex? ummm... to be honest i don't care if you are a fruitcake. that's your business.

  • I said sex...not sexuality or sexual preference.

I was referring to '"by the by"? are you a guy or not?'

By the sounds of it, you are a butthurt conservative. Well, grow up.

  • LOL

  • That's what I thought.

  • so our Veterans Administration is a communist organization run by russians? so medicare is a communist organization run by china? so social security is a communist organization run by north korea.

when you retire, i dare you NOT to draw social security, not to draw medicare, and if you served in the military NOT draw any VA benefits.............you dont fucking deserve them

  • when i retire they will not exist unless we kick the marxists out of office real soon. if that doesn't materialize then SS and medicare will be a non issue.

and did you see walter reed hospital before it was exposed? lol lol lol... i guess you consider that a nice way to repay our military? you make me sick you piece of shit garbage.

  • well i hope you have about 750k in the bank when you hit 65ish..........you wont be retiring.............i see door greeting at walmart in your future

  • According to Newt Gingrich, this is her problem, not yours, not mine, and certainly not the insurance companies!

Health care: Think of it as a safety net if your insurance company stiffs you.
