Tivy has produced some great teams, from the State Finalist in 1936, to the State Semi-Final teams in 1987, 1988, 2008 & 2009. They had a great run this year that was cut short by a crappy early draw of Lake Travis. As far as coaching back then Donnie Laurance was a good coach, took Tivy from 2-8 and 3-7 performances to 11-2-1 and 13-1, 7-3 and 9-2 (1990) before he gave up and retired on duty. Unlike most of these Austin or San Antonio schools Tivy isn't blessed with a large talent pool. TFND

I feel sorry for Tivy, they've always been just one or two pieces from a state title. Their best chance was from '88-,90, but they had a suck-ass coach in Donny Lawrence. If they would've had the coach they have now, they would have won back to back titles, they had the biggest, fastest, and strongest team yet

Go Tivy Go, Tivy has been so strong over the years 1987-2008, someone should find a way to post highlights from past seasons past. There were some "Big Hits" and "Exciting Runs" back in the day when the current Tivy stars were ball boys and getting in the way. Trust me I know I'm class of 1991 and was a proud member of the 1990 Tivy team that won district when the U.I.L. only took TWO teams to the playoffs. There were not any teams making the playoffs with a 3-7 record, lol, you had to G.A.T.A.
