So, I decided to test this out on my laptop on a fresh Ubuntu install. I needed to get the touchpad working, but it only took a few minutes. Got everything to install correctly, and just when I installed the NVIDIA drivers to enable 3D acceleration, the driver refuses to detect the EDID info. More work ahead of my apparently. I know a fix though, and I'll try it after work.
I am too, that is why I dual-boot (in fact I sept-boot, but hey).
We're about to get Lightworks NLVE for Linux which has just gone open source and is pro.
There are a ton of top games that work with Linux, either native or via Wine.
As for DJ'ing, Ableton doesn't work (yet), nor does and of my fav DAW's like Cubase, but there are a few alternatives like mixxx, which if you use external hardware is great. TerminatorX too.
It's up to the software companies to develop for Linux.
@djkoby69 Sept-boot, seriously? I think you'd be much better off using VMs than a seven-boot setup.
In fact, I find running a Windows XP VM much more convenient than dual-booting, especially in seamless mode.. It would solve both the DJing and video editing need quite nicely.
@serjndestroy Yes, but I can say at least that it's either not the case or it falls back to non-accelerated for Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere. That, or maybe VirtualBox's "Enable 3D acceleration" and "Enable 2D additions" options actually work at last.
@Psythik Video editing and (I think) DJing are not problem for Linux; gaming, maybe soon someday, I'll just stick to my console for now.
The only thing that really bugs me about Linux is no Adobe Products, it's possible to run them, but try as they might forcing windows applications to run on Linux cant compare to native support.
@gone404 While it is true that this song is getting overused on YouTube and, as a result, disliked, I personally wouldn't call it "shitty". If you disagree, you're free to mute the volume.
could U please just explain me step by step on how to install it?? I installed openCV but I'm getting some error while I'm installing the actual plugin.. If U have ubuntu forum account please send me a message. My nick is "zenek89" I was trying to install it entire day and I gave up...
Will this work on 11.10?

@1ThunderBird2 It's written in the video, silly; Pendulum - Propane Nightmares
(Quite an overused song these days)

Compiz just gets more amazing and more so creepier with every new plugin they think of.

GOD DAMNIT WHY IS COMPIZ STILL NOT AVAILABLE FOR WINDOWS
Psythik 1 year ago
@Psythik That would require porting X.org to Windows, which isn't going to happen.
Just use Linux~

@WindyPower I would if I wasn't a gamer, video editor, and DJ. My lifestyle unfortunately doesn't allow for Linux.

@WindyPower Unless the video editing uses DirectX (witch doesn't get accelerated in VM's unless I'm mistaken)
But other than that viva virtualization :)

@Psythik : That would be akin to putting lipstick on a pig.
I thought Windows users thought Linux (and as such compiz et al) sucked?

OMG the soundtrack sucks ballhair. Why don't you talk about the tech instead of trying to shove your shitty music down people's ear canals.
