I have a problem...

I recently bought a couple of new ecuipment to be able to record myself singing at home. The problem is that the finished product when im recording it with audacity does not at all have the same sound quality as if I plug in my headphones direclty into my soundcard(which I use through usb)without recording. There is nothing wrong with the mic, cables och sound card, but somehow then I record the quality seems to be quite shitty...What is the problem, and how do I solve it?

Ooohh, so Audacity is kinda like Movie Maker for sounds only! I just went to this "Mic Night" a a recording studio (which was far closer to me than I thought it would be), and they said Audacity is good for people who are trying to get Voice Over opportunities. So I made a beeline for it as soon as I got home! Then when I saw more than the obvious "Play, Stop, Rewind, etc." I was like "Oh shoot, what do I do after I recorded my voice?" Lol I appreciate the vid; it'll help me explore better.

@lovify1234 You need to highlight the music you want to add the effects to first. If you don't highlight it, it won't work because the effects won't have anything to 'attach' to.

@cruintention oh, well i think it's just time to upgrade your mic. you'll get MUCH less fuzz if you use a straight to USB condensor microphone. My first mic was a Samson C01U and it was pretty good for the price.

The difference by the two programs is that the left one is for new users and the right one is for advanced users :) and its version 1.2 and 1.3 ;-)

You have to use an actual microphone made for computers. If it's still not there you can download the plug-in from somewhere.
