TO STOP STRINGS BREAKING MOVE THE TUNING PEGS VERY SLOWLY! Now that i have your attention, take that advice, dont turn the pegs really fast, just do it really slowly so the pegs dont loosen :)
strings except 1 and obviously your g string stays as it is. if in doubt tune down first and if it doesn't sound right gently tune back up, that way you wont break strings. thats a little tip for all of you string breakers by the way, and yes i have done it myself once before but once is enough when you have no spares
shit mate i cant remember the exact order, thats why I didn't write it down. best way is to tune along with her at the beginning thats how i realised she had said the low e was a g when its actually c i turned the tuner on my pre amp on and it said c. i think its down on nearly all the
Her tuning is wrong which is probably why your breaking strings she has the pitch right but the low E is tuned down to a c not a G as her video says tuning is C G E G C C
@xgreenjacket Just broke my B string (2nd) by tuning it up, quality Martin lifespan Light tension string. E down to C, G down to G, D up to E (?), B up to C (?), E down to C.
This is her strumming pattern from what I could figure:
So in the first chord you pick the first note, being the second string down (what is normally the A string), followed by a downward strum, then an up, and then another down, and finally an up which will then link into the next chord where you will once again pick the A string, with the whole chord slid up to the 5th fret. In the little 2, 4, 2, 0 part it's just down, up, down up. Seems to work for me perfectly anyway.
I listened to the whole playlist. I was preparing for downloading the ones I like but I didn't select one because I was like paralyzed because of the tunes<3
absolutely an amazing song, such a pure pure sound and fantastic vocals. me and my mate bought a guitar for the first time the other day and this is the second song i have started to learn (after Glen Hansard's say it to me now) just so feel good and emotional songs!
is anyone else aware that what she plays isnt the same as the tab..? its shown like a 2 note chord is sposed to be played but shes playing single note like fills..... and like an extra note added to the intro chord. or is it just me seriously i wanna find out lol
I had to find my own way of playing it which just works for...me playing it, but it doesn't sound like the song. It all sounds fine but 098900 sounds AWFUL. Other videos use things like 987 but still, sounds fucking terrible. Any ideas?
i dont get how the tab has sooo many "open"(0) chords on it when she clearly has her fingers on the strings. will somebody please explain cuz id really like to play this song..... D:
thanks so much. I learned a totally different way of the web with a slightly different tuning and it never sounded correct. Now i need to learn it all again. :(. This is a great video though. Well done.
you didnt put much love into making this video... but youre playing is AWSOME!!!!!... how long do u actualy play the guitar?.......really loved to hear you playin... :D
@rscabxl if you have a chromatic tuner you can just tune each note for note though as someone else has said it is G C E G C C not what is said in the video. If its not chromatic just do it to each appropriate string and find the c from the other strings
i swear in some of them your fingers are compeltly different to what the tabs are saying!! :S also the sounds outa sync in a few places and i wish it was slower but hey! still looking fineeeeeeeee!
i love this video cuz its the first thing i ever found that really showed how to play the song, and u broke it down perfectly, thank u. ill be posting my cover of it later today. so be sure to check it out. thank u.
@sodapop5789 sorry i don't really know how to explain strumming patterns, just try listening to the song really carefully and seeing how is sounds from that :)
@7b294 the strum pattern is described like d for down and u for u and if you have DU then that means you strum up one time and down one time but in quick sucession. so DD U UDD would be two quick downs wait half a second the strum up then wait another half a second then strum up down down in quick sucession. if this helps you understand, can you please post a strum pattern :)
@7b294 wtf we are listeing to it and its not helping please tell us when you stroke down and when you stroke up its not hard seeing as how your doing it in the video no other video shows the strumming pattern and yours sounds about right.....like slow down the strumming heaps or post it in your info ...... ( heres a hint DDUUD) down down up up down ( i know this isnt it but just tell us what you do)
@sodapop5789 D U, U D U D U, repeat until the hammer on's (i think theyre called hammer on's?) where you then strum D U D U D U D U. Hope that helps. :)
i use (Am, C, C/G, riffs) for the "skinny love" parts and (C, 020000, F) for the i told you parts. 020000 is the tab for the chord i use not totally sure of the nam but i beleive its a variant of Cmaj7, like an add9 or something
Try switching the tuner from Guitar to Base Mode, that may help for your C strings, definitely use CGEGCC as the tuning not GCEGCC as she suggests. The tuning on the album is also slightly different. This is tough song to tune a guitar for
if u play the little riff right at the end of the verse as: 3rd string open, 4th string open, 5th string 7th, 5th string 5th, 6th string 9, 6th string 7, it's much easier. Also, he slides the E minor from fret one up to fret 7 on the "Crushed veneer" part
I was really afraid to tune, but nothing went wrong...
