  • lol he is obviously taking the piss

  • who doesn't see that this is sarcasm has to be a real idiot...

  • haha.classic.love it.

  • "I've been around for a while ." hehehe !

  • It takes a certain kind of person to understand his sense of humor and laugh along. (I've found the same is true with Morrissey and The Smiths) There's a reason why the fans are all cut from the same cloth, you either think it's funny, or you don't. I think one of the greatest things about being a fan of a band like REM is the chance we all get to laugh with one another (or cry if necessary).

P.S. - Michael is hysterical and somewhat of a genius.

  • heh heh. x

  • I think the guy who posted this up was just quoting one of Stipe's answers. His humour is great though.

  • Stupid questions and great, dry answers from Stipe.

  • Ahh sarcasm, the perfect brand of comedy. The more bitter and dark, the better and I love Michael Stipe's.

  • Ah, bitter and dark, two great types of ale! Stipey's brilliant as allways!

  • "michael st(r)ipe"

    hahahaa

  • I thought this clip was funny.

  • In fact, he IS the king of comedy.

  • oh he's just being deadpan - it was a stupid question that didn't warrant a real answer so he treated it as such.

  • Love this, I know this program, the reporter is an pretty "strange" guy, but Michael can tell it really odd!

  • How was he disrespectful. He didn't seem disrespectful to me. He's got a very dry sense of humor which is why we R.E.M. fans love him.

  • non ho capito un cazzo..

  • Michael often uses dry sarcasm when people ask him pointless questions. I think it's because he's too inteligent to be genuinly interested by petty questions.

He's a brilliant man, and deffonatly got a great sence of humour.

    x

  • that was some comical deadpan from sir michael!

  • Michael's a VERY humerous man - have you ever seen him live? I've met him, and he really is a nice, pleasant HUMOURFUL man.

  • Yes, he is very tongue-in-cheek, some people don't seem to get that...

  • You've met him????! dude, that's amazing, I hope I'll meet him as well some day.

  • LONG time ago - back in the 80's. Hung out for a while. Stupidly thought there could be more, but not to be!

  • @caryll2 REALLY!? Oh u lucky one!! When, where, how?? Say more please!! ;D

  • @rhapsodier78 Met him in London in the eighties (Hyde Park). We hung out & I fell head over heals, but of course Michael only wanted friendship!

  • "Michael Stipe always comes across as a really nice guy, it's not his job to crack jokes every five seconds, any idiot can do that. "

    this is absolutely true.

  • Michael Stipe is a wonderful guy, he makes a joke without moving his face - "we are utterly humorless", I love the sarcasm! some might not get it though!

  • yeah i think it has something to do with the world's worst reporter.

  • Michael Stipe always comes across as a really nice guy, it's not his job to crack jokes every five seconds, any idiot can do that.
