I think the ball was barely out of his hands. This year there was this controversial buzzer beater between Michigan State and Wisconsin. The building clock and shot clock times were out of sync. Originally they counted it but after review they overturned it.
its weird when i watched it live i thought it was obviously still in his hands so i was wondering why fsu was going crazy, turned out to be a lot closer than i thought
@RoboRoadKill i just can remember you that both replays and "real time" speed are caught by cameras. The only (at this case) diference is cameras abilities to capture more frames at the same duration (second- time unit). Other words, we call it "real time" because it looks like normal speed when we watch games, but its only just frame catching.
@spinazspinaz no if basketball leagues want to really diside in these half a millisecond shots they need a faster shooting camera to really see if it was out of the hands or not.
If you stop this at 13 secs you will see that the red light comes on before the game is actually over. Its at 0.1 secs and the red light is on and the ball looks to be out at that point. I dont think the officials looked at the clock, I think they were judging from the red light.......the light isnt always right though as seen here. Great shot.
it was the right call but thats such crap. basketball shouldnt have the review system. i freaking hate reviews. the call on the field should stand no matter what. except for in football. theres too much to look for in football for the refs to get it close to right 100% of the time.
@hiyaman2, what the hell? Why should a bad call stand when it takes a very short amount of time to review the call, a call that is very easy to review? That makes absolutely no sense. You hate reviews because the team you wanted to win lost. It's an incredibly irrational response. Way too much to look for in football but not in basketball? That makes no sense. With buzzer beaters we are talking tenths of seconds between good and not good; no human will get that right 100% of the time.
Oh, please!!! Invest in an HD TV. I single-stepped my (HD!) DVR and there is *NO* doubt - none, zero, zilch. If you can't get your head out of your butt enough to form a rational, impartial opinion then PLEASE have the common decency to be quiiet!!! Lord have mercy - MOVE ON!!!
That call should never have been overturned. There was not conclusive evidence that the ball was still touching the hand. You just cannot tell with that camera angle.
The local coverage that I was watching had a much better angle of the shot which clearly showed that the ball was still on his fingers as the clock expired. It was the right call.
Honestly, from my standpoint, if there is enough evidence to overturn it, then yes it shouldn't count, but from what I saw I didn't see enough evidence. Therefore Florida State should have won the game. But what I did see was that it looked like Kitchen got the ball off his fingertip as the clock reached triple zeros. But it depends on how one looks at it. I think he got it off.
Up to the refs but that one seems awfully close to so definitely say it doesn't count. If you can't tell, the rule is to stick with the call made on the floor.
you could not tell from the replay hense there was no indesputeable evidence that the shot wasn't good, which means this was FSU's win and once agian the ACC blows in everything. FSU to SEC
Well, I think they blew the call on this one. I expanded the video to FullScreen, and kept hitting Pause/Play. I had a paused screen shot with the ball in the air (about 3ft from the shooter's hand), and the clock clearly showing 0.1 seconds. VT stole one this time, but they'll get blown out by Duke.

@ItzTooSik The ball has to be out of the player's hands/fingers when the red buzzer light goes off. This is the closest one I have ever seen.
