Torre gives respect, that's why he gets respect. The Boston fans have always admired Torre, and when they had the ring ceremony at Fenway after 2004, they gave him a standing ovation. Why? How is he a betrayer? If Yankee management really cared about Torre, they would have offered him a longer contract but they didn't. If it weren't for Joe Torre, Yankees would have 22 rings instead of 26 and we wouldn't have won a World Series since 1978. I'm a Yankees fan and I'm thankful Joe Torre came along and helped bring 4 WS to New York.
