The DS version is best. They actually know how to keep characters looking good throughout the game despite having less graphical capabilities than the PSX.

If graphics all you can pick out of the game Volvert go do someting productive like walking your dog...instead of comenting on games. True gamers do not care abut graphics as much as replay value and storyline. All the FF always had most advence graphics for the time it was created. (openings and such) As for game graphics keep in mind that game systems and media can hold only so much data with FF being the longest games better graphics just not feasible on older systems.

Terrible, just terrible. They could do a whole lot better, even back then. In fact, remember that Final Fantasy movie that had nothing to do with Final Fantasy? That was released the same year as this game. Using logic, we then realize this was crappy for its time, and will remain crappy forever. It looks like a prototype 3D cutscene from 1995.
It's amazing to see how FFIV got about 3 remakes on both Song AND Nintendo consoles/portable consoles, which beats the highly acclaimed FFVII, which hasn't received a single remake, though did receive a few "side plots." Pretty neat, and FFIV is my favorite of the FF games I've played, though VII and VIII are awesome too. Just a lil "overused."

To be fair, this was made in 1997 whereas the DS version came out in '08. Though i am kinda annoyed how the FF back catalogue is spread over so many different consoles now - the newest versions of the games are on PSP, PS1, OR DS :/.
Well, handhelds are the best choice for RPGs. Espeicially when we're talking Final Fantasy.
An RPG on a console would have high standards because of the current technology used today. If the games just had basic, turnbased gameplay, and was put to consoles these days, then it would get hit by a lot of negative responses.
When a game is on a console, the majority of the society expects to see something more revolutionary.
Yes, the point of that part of my comment is that in order to play FF3 nowadays, i either have to ebay the original famcom version (which when last i checked was on at upwards of £80) or to buy a DS, seeing as I dont have one and i don't particularly want to get one for the one game.

I played the DS version recently and for a fact it's more of a rippoff by Square-enix than a remake. i mean seriously they editted all attacks and spells making them completely different from the origional make. i'd rather play with a pile of crap than this game.
You know even though the ds opening is complete dynamite some parts of this one would had been cool as well. I blinked when I saw this graphics. Its like seeing comedy version of the characters. What a long way we have come.

Yes, the point of that part of my comment is that in order to play FF3 nowadays, i either have to ebay the original famcom version (which when last i checked was on at upwards of £80) or to buy a DS, seeing as I dont have one and i don't particularly want to get one for the one game.

The only spoiler in the intro for the DS is the Lunar Whale emerging and Cecil becoming a paladin, and this is just a huge clipping of spoilers

If ya want a challenge, try beating the 4 elemental bosses inside the giant with battle speed on full in the SNES one. (its suicidal at the tornado boss)

I played the DS version recently and for a fact it's more of a rippoff by Square-enix than a remake. i mean seriously they editted all attacks and spells making them completely different from the origional make. i'd rather play with a pile of crap than this game.

You know even though the ds opening is complete dynamite some parts of this one would had been cool as well. I blinked when I saw this graphics. Its like seeing comedy version of the characters. What a long way we have come.
