Very COol A friend and I did a photo shott on Route 66 Between Tulsa and OKC about 12 years ago. There is so much to discover when we stop, slow down, and observe
Oh, how I wish I could've seen it in '68, from a Corvette! Must've been dreamy.
Good News: The Mother Road is still more or less there, if not a bit run down and fragmented. You have to sort of jump on and off in favor of short highway stints, as there are places where, sadly, the old haunted road just dissipates into weeds.
We were also saddened to see many of RT. 66's glorious roadside restaurants and hotels obviously hurting.
But still very much alive; still beckoning and bewitching...
When I got back to the states in '68 I was getting transferred to Luke AFB in Phoenix. First thing I did in Jersey was buy a Corvette then packed up and drove out when there was still a lot of rt66 left. I think it's all gone now.
