"teaching" yourself on a heavybag is going to teach you really bad habits, that will be very hard to get rid off later down the line (muscle memory is hard to "unprogramm"), apart from the risk of really hurting your wrists/tendons etc from throwing the punches wrong, and even hurting your shoulders from throwing bad hooks etc.

"teaching" yourself on a heavybag is going to teach you really bad habits, that will be very hard to get rid off later down the line (muscle memory is hard to "unprogramm"), apart from the risk of really hurting your wrists/tendons etc from throwing the punches wrong, and even hurting your shoulders from throwing bad hooks etc.

OMG, xylocaine is NOT an anti steroid. It is a numbing agent similar to novacaine. If you can't feel the pain then you are able to hit harder because you don't feel anything. If you feel pain, guess what? You won't hit as hard. Also it gives you a psychological edge when you know you won't feel pain. You think you can perform better with a headache? No. But if you took an aspirin and you felt better could you perform better? Of course. Xylocaine is illegal in boxing for a reason.
