• Very good. Hated to see the picture with Hugo the Horrible though.

  • What does the test say about the women's IQ?

  • WHICH WHICH WHICH WHICH WHICH

  • There's an episode of I Love Lucy called Ragtime Band episode 173. Where they sing this. Very funny.

  • according to body smoker. i'm not saying that women should getaway with their sins and sinful urges and it's true. GOD did say woman is not to be trusted and he already punish woman more than he punish man and the snake i hate to say that women should let men hurt them in anyway but men are sometimes buttholes themselves becuase saudi arabians and 1700 native americans disrespected women and sometimes iwish that women WOULD fight back >: ) ! ! ! ! !

  • Nice photo editing. Harry's new auto-biography is out and I'm really enjoying it.

  • @PaulKyriazi I must get that

  • its true we way smater

  • @cornelius1ful if u had spelled that correctly i might've believed that

  • SPARTA!

  • just loved all his songs....the man's magic!!

  • what a douchefuck. writing songs to get laid

  • He had the bulls to admit this back then! man's a legend!

  • That shot of Hugorila Chavez should really have been left out of the video. It's one of Belafonte's low points.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG1! :')

  • The woman is smarter ... unless the Man is Harry Belafonte !

  • I don't think anyone has ever come close to H.B. in any way....

  • what a white knight...

  • Harry Belafonte is an original...really great talent. Don't think he performs anymore, though.

  • the woman is smarter! yup!

  • if a man does anything without asking wife he is wrong women can do anything without asking men and its ok WTF

  • I agree...Just ask my wife...

  • @TheRedman91 LMAO! XDD

  • bravo !

  • Simply great. Thank you so much maurajs.

  • Thanks for the subtitles and the nice video! I get the wordjokes better now, and it's very hilarious.

  • @ LaVernemaxenepatty38 its a version of Calypso that can be compared to what we call Extempo here in Trinidad. Harry's Style of music originates from the caribbean, particularly Trinidad and Tobago. He has done justice in helping express our culture and style of Music...We are forever grateful Mr. Belafonte and on behalf of Trinidad and Tobago and the West Indies we thank God for blessing us with your life and presence.

  • First time I heard this song it wasby Robert Palmer on his "Some People Can Do What They Like" albumn. Quite different from this original which I am grateful for your posting.

  • Legendary man & His Legendary Lyrics...

This is Song of the Soul.....

The True Story of Evolution of Sexes........

    Hahahahaha.....

  • Luv Harry B. What a handsome guy still. A lovely voice. Loved him since I was a kid. Thanks for the posting.

  • wow , was he or is he gorgeous or what

  • SO handsome, and of course a great singer. This song cracks me up. The only other version I have heard, that I can recall, is the one sung on 'I Love Lucy," so I decided to check thisone out. Both are quite funny. LOVE YA, HARRY!

  • @rem2267

It was also on The Simpsons, but it wasn't the whole song. It was just the family singing a clip. But yeah...I know it best from I Love Lucy as well.

  • xD i love this song

  • Does this count as a Calypso song?

  • Comment removed

  • This all most sounds like "Rum and Coca Cola" by Lord Invader.

Harry Belafonte is soo awesome! I love his accent when he sings. Lol, I heard this song from I Love Lucy, made me wonder who sang this song.... Harry!

  • so what happened since then ??? HA... kidding of course. I meant I give up being smart, I just go for Good luck these days :)

  • what a beautiful man

  • I love the way you did this music film. I noticed how you started with Harrry young, then Harry middle aged, then Harry older, and at the end you went back to young.

This is a perfect film to me.

  • @Markobonv thank you very much :) I've really appreciated that you noticed the cronological sequence of the pictures and thank you very much for the compliments :)

  • very fine job-

  • This is not Harry Belafonte's song, the original was the Trinidadian calypsonian "King Radio"

  • I love the fact that you show pictures from his entire career, it started a few years before I was born, but I inherited my parent's love for the artist. I was once invited to a Jewish celebration, and was questioned on how I knew "Hava Nagila" so well (as a WASP) It was because of his awesome rendition (a black man taught me to ding a jewish song =go figure) BTW, look up his political commentary, you may be surprised at how much sense he makes.

  • SUCH A GORGEOUS TALENTED AND WISE MAN!!!

  • What a cute and funny song. Nice video to go along.

  • loves his music!! -this lyric makes me laugh too!!

thanks so much for sharing!! :)

  • I have heard other versions but harry just warms ones blood up and get ya motor running!-they don't make like harry anymore! LOVE THIS SONG !!! thanks for the vid with so much quality -it has to cheer you up even when you are already happy ! if ja get my point !,.<3.......gus

  • Thank You So Much. Excellent.

  • True dat!

  • Great man, great song, great video. Thanks for taking the time to make a video well worth watching.

  • I first head this song on the 50's TV show I Love Lucy. Lucy, Ricky and the gang sing this song on a show and I don't know if this is originally Harry Belafonte's work or someone elses'. Anyone know ? I am not from the 50's or early 60's. I was born 1980 but I love classic songs of the 20th century! The best music!

  • thank you

  • thanks grew up with this song...it was my mom's 'revenge' to put it on when there was a dispute in the home!

  • i wonder there exist pple who disliked this masterpiece

  • Not me but the people they say, this is the smarter man in every way.

  • Listening to this song and reading the comments below has been one of the most enjoyable 4minutes and 20 seconds of all my time on the internet so far. Thanks for all the ridiculous arguments and inane comments. Hilarious. It's a great song. I saw Belafonte at the O'keefe centre in Toronto in 1973, when I was six. Awesome!

  • love love love this never heard it before but made my evening Thankyou :))))

  • Samson was the strongest man long ago

  • the best

  • his voice is so unique and beautiful. Definitely the best version of this song.

  • guys take some advice from this man you may learn something interesting

  • @valdaization *Hat tip to Vald*

  • @valdaization umm yea i am a boy and i learned that some females can be evil.. eve fr example...

  • @cawereomg Ur right. Just because Women and Men think differently does not make women smarter.

  • @valdaization I think your just paying attention to the Chorus the verses make is sound like women are smarter because they are more devious and get over on guys all the time....Either way It's Just A Song.....lol

  • too much thinking on a man and a song that is a survivor of a time of love and a different kind that we all know today....

His song has no pretention... i think it was a smart song ^^

  • you dont have any good taste

  • Women are equal and they deserve respect....just kidding they should suck my dick...

  • is this a pro feminism song? Because I am doing an assignment regarding this song and the more I listen to it, the more I feel that this is about misogyny rather than feminism

  • Vandsjov

I have never heard of King Radio from Trinidad & Tobago singing any calypso. As a child I heard this version from Harry. Harry is not a calypso singer, he is a folk singer and by the way he was born in Manhattan, New York City.

  • There has yet to be a song by Harry Belafonte that I don't like, although this is probably one of my favorites. I bet I listen to this song several times every day.

  • Excellent song performed by Harry Belafonte

  • Dear Beatle and TXM

I don't know who you two are, but you should seriously think about getting yourselves a life.

  • Great song. Great memories from the Greek Theater for me in the summers of the 60's. Reading these dimwits argue is almost as entertaining as the song.

  • I got news for ya, bud- it takes two to tango.

  • check out the grateful deads versions,,, oh yes

  • today i kissed tha girl ,i love,,but she said iam like other man,,and she said we r no more friends,,,she also kissed me but wen i kissed she said ,,that it was my test, now am listening this song ,,,,,,,

  • deep repect for Harry but this song to he has stolen from a calypsonian by the name King Radio from Trinidad & Tobago

  • so many songs have been sung by different people and at times they sound better than the original-songs don't have copy right.what is the problem.harry is the best i have listened to him since childhood and so have my kids

    Joshua Spencer

  • I still have the LP original and I will never ever part with this incredible vinyl .Awesome vid thank you so much

  • Fantastic song & video. Thanks for sharing.

  • It's not only nice, it's also true !! :D:D

But anyway i love it ,

like every one here i guess ;)

  • belafonte at carnegie hall is the first music given to me. I was three or four when my father played the red vinyl discs. And I still love everything in the C-side and the D-side, including this song. glad to know that lots of people enjoy it.

  • I too was about 3 or 4 when my mother used to play the Belafonte records and we would dance around the patio next to the banana trees at our south Louisiana house eating French Creole food...oh these memories....once in 2001 I heard Belafonte for the first time in over 30 years and I was remembering something so deep about my long deceased mother I was just balling...the power of music & memory is very deep...

  • I had a very similar experience with my mother and Harry Belafonte

  • Yes... whenever I think of my father (who passed away 5 years ago) I think of Belafonte, and vise versa.

My memory failed on colors, btw... it was not red vinyl, it was plain black discs. I checked today, it's still here.

  • Perhaps we should all have a Harry Belafonte Reunion in a few years and have primal cry therapy session over our parents (just kidding).

  • @119musicalsouls Thank you for sharing. I like the cultural diversity that was shown Caribbean music and French Creole food.

  • ...excellent !

  • I love this song!!!!

  • The very first time I ever heard this song, believe it or not, Ricky Ricardo did this song in "I Love Lucy" at The Tropicana, as Ricky Ricardo was singing this song, Lucy, Fred and Ethel were saying "Um Smarter" when their cue came up.

Tell me, does anyone here on You Tube remember that I Love Lucy episode?

This song reminds me of "I Love Lucy".

  • yes I vaguely remember seeing that I think (I already was listening to the records at a very young age 3 or 4 ) so its hard to say for sure but I think I do sort of remember them singing that on I Love Lucy and thinking: "they are singing that (Belefonte) song...but I'm not confident about my memory...

  • Yes, Ricky Ricardo did this song on "I Love Lucy".

  • You know, there is also a version sung by Robert Mitchum, very funny

  • Really? funnier than what I saw on "I Love Lucy"?

  • I don't know, I love it. The title of this version is "Not Me" and it's part of the album "Robert Mitchum: Calypso - Is like so"

  • I should watch it someday.

  • Yeah...relate to night world woman is smarter than man.

But, day time man is smarter than woman.

  • its true ^_^ us woman are smater

  • perfect song...

  • True, Sooooooooo True

  • The lyricist used, alternately, satirical and ironic messages in the song. Made me smile while listening. I would not go far by saying he was sarcastic. The song writer wasn't. It was a relaxing song! Thanks for posting.

  • Just a small remark about the lyrics...

"Methuselah spent all his life in tears,

make without woman for 900 years" is not correct.

    It should be:

"Methuselah spent all his life in tears,

make with one woman for 900 years"

But the song is really great :)

  • rofl! aint it hilarious! 1 of my fav songs m so glad i found it ere... :D

  • What a great song, so funny :)

  • It's a joke for crips sake....lighten up...

  • one of the most beautiful voices in the world.

  • Mr. Belafonte seems to be a smart man... :)

  • Great great song! Thanks for posting it! Absolutely wonderful. Belafonte is from The Bahamas, isn't he? Nassau?

  • He's born in New York but his parents where Jamaican I think...

  • Good catch. You're right. I just read on wiki. When I was visiting Nassau many years ago, a tour guide said he was from there. Doh, on me!
