i have one question guys... the only way i can get a fully shaved face is if i go the oposite way.. meaning upwards.. i try doing downwards and it will shave some but not all.. theres still little hairs left but when i go upwards it removes it all.. however i herad this is not good to do and i always have irritation after i do this and some parts turn red. someone please help. thank you

Here's how you can shave "upwards" or against the grain with almost no irritation.

1. Shave in the direction of hair growth or "with the grain".

2. Next, wet face, reapply shave cream and go across the grain.

3. Repeat step 2, this time you should be able to shave upwards/against the grain.

I know it seems like shaving 3 times, but you have to trim the hair little by little to avoid irritation.

Also, because your shaving so many times, use a very light touch.

I am a firefighter and we have to stay clean shaven so that our SCBA mask creates a solid seal with our face so that we don't die from smoke inhalation during an interior attack on a residential or commercial structure fire. It's a health and safety issue for us. There are so many other jobs that require you to stay clean shaven because it usually looks more professional. Nice try though

Most experts in shaving will tell you to either NOT go against the grain, or do so on the 'second pass'- so when you shave your neck area you would go up, not down, like he is. Hair changes direction on the cheek and middle neck vs the rest of the neck.
