  • I could see the red LED (on the keyboard) with the canon. It was nonexistent on the sony video. thanks- I know what to buy...

  • What ISO did you set the T3i at for low light testing?

  • Canon T3i is the BEEP!

  • So what is this supposed to show that cannons can white balance better?

  • My cannon t3i will just randomly stop recording what the helll!

  • @CooperCarr87 Either you need a class 10 HD Movie SD card or you need to turn the 2 sec sleep mode off(or whatever you call it).

  • how did you render this from sony vegas?

  • H a little extra work and less money, the t3i pulls off much better looking shots. Especially low-light and DOF.

  • Canon t3i clearly wins. While the fx7 is great for run and gun video and has more intuitive controls, with a

  • Result is Canon T3i beats Sony. Simple!

  • I bet tesco won't be happy...

  • CANON t3i IS THEE BEST CAMERAAA!

  • thanks for this video. I was going to spend the $2000 on the sony, but now i can see that, for the same price (or even less) i can buy this camera with some high end lenses and get some much better results.

  • Canon is better! Good video!

  • the depth of field on the canon is to die for.

  • Canon is the best? NEVER! Sony is the best camera. With the Low light test is much better the FX7. Canon regulates the brightness in stages. 2:06 . That alon is not acceptable!! Where is the sound test? Canon sound is not acceptable. Senseless comparison! Camera for pictures is good for pictures. Camera for video is good for videos. Not differently.

  • A more fair comparison would be a Nikon and Canon DSLR or a Canon and Sony camcorders.

To my eyes, they all are very different, I see Canon DSLR more vivid than Nikon, but Nikon more real. Even thou I have an FX7, I really do like Canon's HV10-20 and 30 for half the price.

  • I have this FX7 and a Nikon D7000. DSLR can't handle changes in lighting like a camcorder can, this videos is a perfect example of that. DOF can be achieved with a 35mm adapter on the FX7. The FX7 uses tapes, which I love because you'll never loose the original after editing, unless you have endless terabytes of room.

  • I look at these two and the Sony is much more professional looking. The canon goes a little overboard with the color enhancements. The soft realistic colors of the Sony as well as how it feels in your hands while recording make's it my choice. The canon does better in low light situations though.

  • Wtf i have a fx7 and a t3i and the fx7 has way better quality?

  • If you're filming a fast paced sport like rallying, what would be better, a DSLR or a camcorder.

  • @KidBajan Probably a really good HD Camcorder.

  • @ImagineNowEntertnmnt - Which brand would you recommend?

  • @KidBajan Sony and Canon camcorders are really good.

  • @ImagineNowEntertnmnt - I've seen a few HD quality tests from both brands and there was one Canon camera that looked close to DSLR quality.

  • @KidBajan dslr because you have a lot more flexability when it comes to low light with fast shutter speeds to capture all the action

  • @WhatAreYouBuyenTV - A DSLR has a limited time of recording, plus they can overheat. A camcorder doesn't have that.

  • @KidBajan yeah I've heard problems with the T2i over heating, however the T3i has not once overheated on me... and recording for 5 minutes straight would only serve for really time lapses, and you can set the camera to start a new recording right away after the 15 minutes is reached, losing a second or two won't make a difference in a time lapse... and its definitively not worth spending several thousands more for a camcorder... DSLR's however have artifacting and aliasing problems for sure!

  • @WhatAreYouBuyenTV - Thing is, If I'm out out at a rally event which is 24 stages over the span of 2 days, I would need something that can last a long time without having to buy a whole bunch of batteries.

  • Are you able to change the ISO in movie mode on the T3i?? Got mine the other day.. cant figure that part out unlike when I had the 7D...

  • @joshsikorski Yes.

  • @joshsikorski You must hold to buttons to change the iso. And the settings must be manual iso, not auto iso

  • Cmon, what's the music?! :)

  • @Flexwings I can't recall the title of the song but I got it from Jimmy Gelhaar (do a google search)

  • Both cameras are great in different ways. I love both of them and even though I have the T3i now, I still use the FX7 often. It just boils down to what are you shooting. =))

  • I am sorry. But how can you compare a large sensor camera VS. a cheap, outdated, small chipped HDV cam?

  • What is the name of this music? Thankyou! :) Nice video... im ordering the 600d after new year :)

  • Canon wins by far

  • t3i is better, and it will kick ass in low light with a 100$ f1.8 lens! :D

  • thumbs up if u think canon t3i is the best!

  • And so on and so forth , leave DSLR's shooting for proffesionals who know how to handle these cameras in full manual mode , wich is the only way to work , also it's advisable to work with primes for low light , no crap kit lens.

  • @TomisStudio true that i only shoot in manual on my canon t3i and it turns out amazing people who buy them for the auto mode waste there money

  • 4. you need to do focus manually , to this date there is no autofocus on DSLR's that work , even in GH2 the focus will be fooled very easy by a birght light or a sudden change in scenery , Canon is fair not to give any stupid autofocus that doesn't work like Nkion does

  • About any of the new generation DSLR's and even some consumer digital cameras will beat Camcorders in low light , it's simple , Huge sensor.

But they are not ready , you can't really depend on a digital camera like you do with a camcorder , examples :

    1. you can't make a smooth zoom on a DSLR , audio si mostly crap unlles you use extrenal mic's

    2. ergonomically they suck for video

    3. you need a stabilizer of some sort , steadycam something or footage will be shacky

    .

  • could you please tell me your sony vegas render settings? it would be very much appreciated. thank you.

  • Pretty good. But I would suggest locking your AE-L. The Exposure was changing automatically on the t3i and it wasn't on the fx7. I don't use the t31, but I use the Nikon D7000. So same concept. I also use to use the FX1. lol

  • @BurnBrothersProd I do everything manually. I was really changing the exposure on the T3i. Like for example in the last test in the bathroom. When I was showing the LED light, my shutter speed was way up there. But when I showed the faucet, I needed to lower down the shutter speed to compensate.

  • May I ask which one was easier to use? In focussing

  • @Hoodies18 The FX7 because it can auto-focus while recording.

  • @ImagineNowEntertnmnt I see. One More Question! How's the audio when recording with the T3i?

    Thank you!

  • @Hoodies18 I use an external audio recorder when I'm doing my films (Zoom H2 + Rode Videomic). I also use the Rode Stereo Videomic (I don't use the on-board mic).

  • @ImagineNowEntertnmnt Thanks A lot Man :)

  • Holy shit!!! Knoptop commented on this video!

  • i like the fx7's colours beter, but the quality is slightly better on the t3i. but its very opinionated and all depends on how you set them

  • @LIsk8r Does not matter about "colors". I have a T2i and i white balance it and shoot at saturation -2, and contrast -2. I do all my color correcting in post. This gives it the best outcome.

  • I have both cameras and the 60d. You really did a great job with the results. Thanks man.

  • Canon is better

  • @DjKurdo10 ... crazy that an entry level Canon DSLR camera can compete with a 3 cmos Sony... The fact that it can even compete tells you all you need to know about the t3i... just bought the t3i package

  • nice comparison! wow the FX7 held it's ground pretty well, i thought. loved the soundtrack too!

  • @Knoptop thanks man! The Sony FX7 is a great camera and it still does stuff that a DSLR cannot do. Oh and credit to Jimmy G for the music. He is amazing. Go check out his website! Just google search him. His stuff are royalty free. Literally FREE. Tell him I sent ya if you ever used some of his music! =)) Have a good one!
