This song totally changed my life. Because of this song in 1984, I turned myself from a dreamer to a doer. Not only I pursued my dreams, but I also moved to USA to find God. For past 14 years being here, luckily so many times I could reach God while in sleep, and I have enjoyed my life in NJ. I hope this year, those melodies and memories in my heart can be forged into good songs.I really like Barbra and the writer of "A piece of Sky " know that they have saved and changed several people's life

@kerevon "From my window I could only see a piece of sky" - I think she means, "From my comfort zone, I only got a small idea of what experiences I could have in life." So that when she says, "With all there is, why settle for a piece of sky?" she's suggesting that there are so many opportunities to expand your horizons, you must go look for them, so you can get the most out of life. Props, Babs :)

You know, Isaac Bashevis Singer, the author of the short story that this was based on really disliked this ending. He thought it betrayed the spirit of the story's character and was simply an excuse for Streisand to showboat.

This is interesting. I had the hardest time with this ending when I went to see the movie (on its initial run) because it is so much an echo (if not a direct quote) of the Funny Girl movie scene where she ends "Don't Rain on My Parade" and holds up the flowers in a statue of liberty pose as rides into the NY Harbor.

I am a reluctant Barbra fan... this woman is AMAZING. She wrote, directed and produced this movie.. OH< and was the starring actor! and the message and artistry in here is AMAZING. You can't deny it. I have tried... WHAT an amazing individual. oh and this is not in a time when women were taken seriously yet... what a pioneer and STELLAR indiviual. THANK YOU, Barbra. :-)
