if not the bass eat the sunfish .....simple cut head off gut check for yellow roe delicious in butter low heat with garlic salt holding the fish where the head was towards you cut top fin off turn upside down remove all fins back to the top side got 2 sides now with skin both sides of fish with meat on the top peel skin to the tail both sides and done these are fished cleaned ....... you can fry back boil in your favorite vegetable juice of fruit drink a soft boil till all meat off bones yum yum

if you want to catch bass in the 12 to 15 inch range, use a medium sized storm swim bait and use a slow steady retrieve and cast in the same spot about 5 times and if you don't catch anything adjust the angle of your cast to target another aria of the pond.

Also, the reason the bluegill/panfish grow huge and the bass dont is because bluegill/panfish eat bass eggs and bass only ley eggs once a year while bluegill lay constantly like rabits. Just a quick tip.

@punkgopher22 i could be wrong but i'm pretty sure the gills spawn once a year like other fish as i only see them in the large saucer shape beds in late spring /early summer ,as for the size it seems the blue gill population is relatively low and the ponds have only a small number of baitfish and small bluegill to feed on ,on the other hand there is lot of aquatic insects which the limited number of gills gorge themselves on

Those are some nice gills for sure, I bass fish for a living for the most part however I love taking my kids fishing for Crappie and Gills they love them and cant wait for days when Im not practicing for a tourney or fishing one, it keeps me on the road more less year round and about 230-250 days a year on the water so I dont have tons of time.. but when I do they are asking all the time take me bream fishing lol and I do when Im home I take them 3-4 times a week! BTW good job on Catch n release
