have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old L6 in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps EFi and tank clean and rustfree
only is inlet port,,,,,the first time i saw the inlet port i was going to port them for a rally engine but i just put my tools back in my car and made a big joke that day (my fiat 30tc had biger port than 3.5 rover v8).
the v8 pushrod engine is dominating the world.NASCAR-NHRA-AHRA-the newer turbo charged kiddy motors are making the numbers,sure-but really-if it,s not a traditional v8-who cares.
@hybridatsun350 it was totally re-engineered by Rover. Unless you are going to tell me that Buick gave up on a perfect design that didnt cause them any problems?
nothing wrong with a pushrod engine, it's design hasn't really changed much since the 60's, and for a reletively small capacity engine (for a V8) it's capable of big power with the right tuning. It's a brilliant engine and has found its way into more cars than furry dice.
I would have preferred the engine noise over that crappy Kidz music.

@triumph1974 "Totally re-engineered" is definitely an overstatement, but Rover did make significant improvements to the design.
