TOUR #2, ENTERTAINMENT: What will happen to your brains! Endlessly entertained, on your demand, in your room, layers upon layers of it. See "The Future of America," by CollegeKnowledge, it follows on the tour. Eric, and the guys in the next video, suggest you might not be able to get the hard stuff when you need it. Trained on confections, can you digest the rich ideas? See aljean dot wordpress dot com for more. Or comment yourself on the tour.
YouTube taught me that however much my parents or friends feel we spend on YouTube, that the idea of "On Demand" media is simply playing into a history of A.D.D.merica. The Tivo revolution is nothing new, and neither is this whole YouTube thing.
(cont) Youtube achieves this in a way that nothing else can. I believe there are serious costs to this, some of which include the breaking down of person to person interaction, and the attention span of the average person. The question I have for everyone else is: why is youtube designed the way it is? Is it because we really want to sacrifice these things in exchange for quick entertainment, or are we accepting the way youtube is designed because youtube is the only place we can get youtube?
You touched on a point that I really want to address some more when Ruben and I do our class statement. You mention that our society has a need for media gratification, which, in todays world, can be provided much faster than ever before.(cont)
