Toward the very end, when they're talking about the suggestion of reparations, and how it doesn't make sense to blame people for the wrongs of their ancestors, Ben Stein makes this ridiculous point that slavery was "perfectly legal" at the time.  What does that have to do with anything?! Morality is not determined by what is legal. If Hitler changed the laws to make the Holocaust legal, would that make it okay to kill innocent people? No!

Try being a white person & walk through a predominantly black neighborhood with shitty apartments in a major city like Chicago. Or try driving a beat up old car, even while following the laws & rules of the roads, while black in a posh city near some cops. Look, creationism does not actually conflict in any way with evolution, as evolution and abiogenisis are two different sciences altogether. An actual creationist would not deny evolution any more than a round Earth. A creationist would simply believe an unprovable or provable assertion: That something did not come from nothing. I would like to see any proof in physics that says either matter or energy can come from no source whatsoever.

The problem is that many creationists directly attack evolution as a false science. They cherry pick details and point out and say that it proves that these things aren't true. And many of the ones I talk to believe evolution to be a tactic invented to attack Christianity. It is unfortunate, and you are right, I think you can believe in a deity or a universal intelligence and accept scientific fact and be rational, but unfortunately it is a point of contention. I do respect Ben Stein though.
