they have a lot more polishing to do. i canceled my pre-order because it just wasn't that fun. also, you need a pretty powerful PC just to play it smoothly. i can play skyrim medium settings at around 45 fps. swtor i get 17 fps. poorly optimized. but after a few months, i can't imagine this game being a failure. it'll be pullin WoW subs left and right EASILY.

These are not bad at all, they aren't the best, but they are god damn good enough and gives the old Star Warsy feel to a game, they have that particular charm. If these graphics really put you off you have problems and should go out into the real world and look at IRL trees if realistic graphics really are so damn important to you.

I think this shows it off pretty well. Each character looks less generic, the lighting looks way more fitting and they've been more dramatic with colours. The 2009 example looks bland, and the 2011 clip is far superior, even if it isn't a dramatic difference if you don't look for specific changes.

@DreamlandGuardian i wish I was as optimistic as you about GW2 but I feel that GW2 won't really have any end game content, and thus the rest of the game won't matter no mattter how innovative and awesome it might be :( at least with TOR when dev's were asked about end game a while ago they would say things like "we know end game is critical to a successful MMO." and are showing it off, but I find that GW2 devs have been really dodging the questions and that scares me.
GW2 may have a better overall art style, (in my opinion) but it does not allow for facial close ups, expressions and directed cut scenes, SWTOR's style was chosen as it makes the cut scenes look best given its mmo requirments, after seeing a lot of player's footage, and the way the dialogue scenese are intergrated, it begins to win you over.

From what I've read so far, SWTOR graphics are disappointing...circa 2005 according to a guy that played the beta, google it someone posted a wordpress blog about it.

SW:TOR got impressive graphics based on the fact that it is a MMORPG if you compare it to other games in the same genre. In addition, it is going to be playable on a wide range of computers, (as Hamptoncttn pointed out aswell)

@koky5150 It is generally understood that anti-aliasing is turned off in the current SWTOR builds pending final optimization of the game code. That significantly degrades the visual experience.
@Madklown187 That's what most people don't get. They like to compare these graphics to BF3 and Crysis 2, yet that is a way different target audience and the majority of those people play on consoles. Swtor has better graphics than any Xbox 360 game I have seen and the reason why the graphics are stylized is so that a broader audience (hence "MMO") is able to run it on their low budget computer without watching a slideshow.
@daddywentdudu I myself would choose mercenary just because two blasters look better than one. Mercs u can heal with and powertech you can tank with. and for powertech i think you guys get an extra layer of armor not sure though.

The Sith Warrior's voice is cold yet firm. He states the situation in a cold manner. The Sith inquisitor sound's like he is going through a list, quickly.

While the Sith Warrior speaks in a cold manner, there is no emotion in his voice, at least from my point of view. He sounds like he is bored and also it doesn't help that he acts like a royal snob that most Imperial higher-ups are. The Inquisitor however, though I got to admit that even though he says it very quickly (which makes him sound a little silly), in his voice you can tell that he is not going to take crap from this guy.

@gv1955 I agree, he says some words a little too fast now that I listen for it, I like his voice but I'd love it if some of his words didn't sound so rushed. Although I can't blame him, 60 novels worth of dialogue :p and as a class voice he probably has at least 6 to 10 novels worth.

For me the Sith warrior reminds me the line from of Rocky 4 Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) the line "I must break you".
He cannot lie or manipulate like the Sith inquisitor he must project strong unrelenting power when he deals with people. Thats why he projects a superior atitude.
The best line I have heard from the Sith Inquisitor was "this tunnel is coming down". That was a good line. Not rushed : )
