@dogalicious14 they were pretty. notice the resemblence of them three. lots of people agreed w/ me. A & C should have sung & danced a few numbers w/ these girls. A & C had great talent besides their comedy. also the girls should have appeared in a few more movies w/ the boys. they belonged together. a beautiful song. patty is 93 years old.****
Lovely song from an equally fantastic trio. I grew up during WWII and saw these ladies perform in movies of that time. What wonderful memories they bring back. They helped us to cope with the horror of that wartime era. May we all continue to cherish the beauty of their music forever.
Oh my, does this song bring back sweet but sad memories. I saw this movie in 1942 when I was 12 during WWII when my brother and many family members and friends were away fighting for the freedom we enjoy today. My brother called me tonight to wish me a Happy Thanksgiving (he's 84 and I'm 81) and I'm grateful he came home from the war. Thank you SmokersDelight for posting it. OneKewpie.
TO DURANDCONNIE: Yes, this is in the movie "Buck Privates" and getting a DVD of it should be no problem. Try eBay and Amazon for the best deals. Good luck!!!!
This is my inlaws song...Dad was in WWII and they were married in May. How can I get a full clip of this scene...was it part of "Buck Privates" and if so do you think it would be in DVD???
I reemember my mum bless her RIP talking about her mum and a possible suitor, poss American??, didn't come to anything, but a really sweet story, I am so glad she shared it with me.
This song was not part of universal studios plans for the 'B' movie, the studios maintained it would slow down the movie, the girls had to pay the studio for putting the song in,as a result 'Buck Privates' was the biggest box office draw till Jaws
As my dad once told me during his lifetime, this song was dedicated to those soldiers who were to serve in the military and were to arrive back home "in apple blossom time" in 1942. Unfortunately, Pearl Harbor had happened and this extended not only my father's time serving his country, but many others. I still treasure his "dog tags" today. Miss Rynkiewicz
thanks ellie, now we only need one song from Buck Privates to complete the set, the song in question is "You're a lucky fellow Mr Smith', the Andrews Sisters marched a lot of service men onto their ships to go fight,in ww2. Singing that song, and "Johnny get your gun again"
this was everybody's early love song favourite, the girls had to pay to put it in the movie 'Buck Privates' Universal thought it would slow down the movie???
what a time...all war and all...ugh...

The blonde lead singer -- Patty Andrews (mezzo-soprano; born February 16, 1918) -- is the sole survivor. Happy birthday, Patty.

The Andrews Sisters are the best, and Patty is unreal. Love their 1937-1947 period.

Bush had none of these send offs or welcome home parties for his soldiers, Sailors and Airmen,
Everytime the Andrews Sisters sang the troops aboard, Maxene usually shed a tear for the ones she knew wouldnt be coming back
