The videos were really helpful, but the urls are too hard to see, so sometimes I got stuck. Currently, I've done the final steps - I've unzipped a new theme and put it on my ftp site under wp-content > themes. But I can't get it to show up under appearances. You don't offer any trouble shooting in your video. I'm stuck and don't know what to do.
With the new domain name, new WP template, etc. Will I be able to change the home page into a static page instead of the blog's latest posts? I would rather have the blog/journal linked from the homepage. At the WP dashboard it is under Settings > Reading. I assume it would be the same with a registered domain and wp theme as it would with a free wordpress blog, correct?
Yes, you will be able to set a static home page. Just create 2 pages. One for the home and the other for recent posts [name them anything you like] and then go to the reading tab and set the static home page and designate a page for recent posts.
