sports silat is like taekwondo with sweeps,pretty weak,trad.silat isgood for self defence but is often too cultural,too much bunga.The trainin of persilat is too soft,they need to create a new form of freefightin with kuncian included,strikes to the head,full contact .At present silat attracts new age hippy types,usually not athletically endowed,who want soft style trainin but that will change as silat grows,we will see a more muscular aggressive form evolve,

plz dont compare the true silat with the sport silat if u dunno wat it is, a true silat is actually for self-def while sport silat in modern society is used for competitions, performances and ceremony, since the true silat is very dangerous it have been forbidden to be use into any games or sport, well actually there are no such thing as sport silat or true silat but only silat or pencak silat(silat art), please dont mix things up, a true silat warrior does not show off in front of other people
