Great video from "Live from the House of Blues," which was a weekly tv show on TBS for a while. My recollection is that this episode aired in summer 1995.
Wow, great stuff. Back when "Live from the House of Blues" was on weekly on TBS or something like that. This is from 1995 if I remember correctly. Autopilot had been released on something like September 13, 1994 and they were really in form during 1994-95.
Thanks to The Samples, bands like The DMB have become very famous and financially set for life while Sean has stayed true to his craft and has not given in to the manipulation and corruption of Big Business Music. Unfortunately staying true to one's self can cost wordly things such as money.
What Sean has in my opinion, is far more valuable than money.
Rock on Sean.
Kevin, the guy who gave you the laptop and cam corder :)
Gimmie a break. Dave Matthews would have been famous and "financially set" no matter who they opened for. They were just SO original and put on such a great live show. I have respect for Sean, but saying he had something to do with the overall success of the Dave Matthews Band is ludicrous. The reason DMB is still raking in money is Dave still writes a good song on occasion. Sean hasn't written a good song in 10 years...
i totally agree dippiel. Yes, DMB is a more talented band, but really, who cares? it's not all about a competition to see who's in first. The Samples may lack in a few areas, but that's what makes them a thousand times more listenable than DMB.
I agree. What makes the Samples more listenable is that they have a more natural, laid-back sound - they're great players too and they have the chops but don't go out of their way to impress with flashy technical virtuosity and indulgent solos like DMB often does. They're both good bands, just different styles. I love these recordings of Boyd playing with them, the chemistry is incredible
speaking of, check out the "Feel Us Shaking" tonight show vid on here w/ Branford Marsalis!
This is a great video, I think it came from national TV when The Samples and DMB played together at the House of Blues. I also think this was about the time DMB said good bye to the samples and jumped on the machine to stardom. It is really a shame DMB chose not to take the samples with them. The samples were instrumental in helping DMB get exposure. I however have stuck with Sean and the boys and always will! The Samples define music because they simply play it!
I think I remember seeing this on TV in summer 1995...but it was other performances from this show - "Weight of the world" and "Did you ever look so nice." I dont remember seeing this song on the telecast. Saw these guys several times when i was at skool at Univ of Colorado Boulder in the early 1990's. Good times (man).
hey,I noticed that you said thanks. Is it cause you work with the band or something?if so then could you tell me whether or not there gonna tour in Arkansas?I've been talking on a message board with a roadie who worked with the samples,he's ackually the guy who played "Junior" from the Problem Child movies.Hes not currently working with the samples so he couldnt give me any touring information so could you or anyone help?

I'd rather hear a pedal steel on this great song instead of a violin....
