  • Yeah, I have an old '93 Dodge Shadow ES. Has the Mitsu V6, though not built yet. Raced a damn VW Beetle and was beat down. Figured it would be the case though, as I could hear that exhaust and the turbocharger spool up. :)

  • @RMez31 Manuals have forged cranks if you want to add power down the road. Auto's are good for running good consistent times at the track, and are easier to launch. But it all comes down to preference. I prefer to drive a manual.

Camaro's and Trans AM's are known to break down all the time. 1 of my friends had a ls1 camaro with 82,000 miles and he had to keep fixing shit on it, so he sold it for a mustang that has 90,000 now with full bolt ons and everything, and hasnt had a problem. My other friends z28 with 128,000 has had to have been in the shop atleast 10 times now. Ford is known to be reliant, GM is not.

  • @IamAtree000001 idk man its never the lt1 or ls1 that has the prob its everything else for example....my 95 ss impala had only full dynomax exhaust and a diablotuner and the trans couldnt hold had 2 be rebuilt twice along with the rear once...though the guy who did the exhuast the 1st time was a con man....fucking ziggy..u have 2 admit the engines run forever

    The Corvette is for those with mid-life crisis? That might account for some buyers but not all the buyers as a whole. The Corvette (C5/C5 Z06/C6/C6 Z06/C6 GS) are the MOST bang for buck all round performance you can get PERIOD.

    Your "sound" example is purely speculative, I disagree with you. I feel that my LT1 and LS1 sound better than Mustangs (GT/Mach1/Cobra).

  • @e303gt While you're mentioning facts, with the exception of the 2011 5.0 Ford did need a Supercharger to beat and N/A Camaro Z28/Trans Am. It's a Fact.

    Saying GM make lead sleds is a little hypocritical since Mustangs are primarily straight line cars as well, get your facts straight.

    The Z06/ZR1/GS ARE the best bang for buck all round performance cars. You need SIGNIFICANT suspension mods to even bring a GT500 up to the course performance of a standard Corvette.

    The sound thing is opinion.

    People that buy a C6 Z06 are a little different, the Z06 is essentially a track car. You're assuming that people pay only 50K for the GT500, people regularly pay over sticker for the GT500. The C6GS is comparable in base price and also outperforms the GT500 stock.

    You say Mustangs sound better but I disagree (as would a lot of other people) but I am used to seeing Mustangs in my rear view so don't hear them for that long.

  • @thetravdawg Blahhhhh B.S the fastest ls1 f-body car was the ws6 transam yes thats right faster than the camaro ss. Even its no instant w against a stock mach 1. Whoever is in front on the takeoff usually wins the race with the ls1 coming back after 5th gear seeing as how the mach 1 packs a 5spd and the ls1 a 6spd. Those two cars are more evenly matched than people realize.

  • @tyrone121285 The majority of the videos I have seen on youtube of stockish Mach1s versus stockish LS1s have been in the LS1s favor (whether Camaro or Trans Am).

    My experiences with Mach1s were before I bought my LS1. I raced two presumably stock Mach1s in my full exhaust LT1. The first was an auto and he went down on a freeway run. The second was a manual and he had at least exhaust and he tried to jump me from 20mph and by the time we let out I was around 95mph and had a fender on him.

    Auto vs auto the LS1 has the advantage because of a better auto and better gearing. The manual Mach1 is the only one that has a driver's chance against a auto/manual LS1.

  • @tyrone121285 It depends on driver, the LS1 pulls harder stock for stock making the same/more hp and more torque. Doesn't matter if you give or take away credit, the fact remains the LS1 auto vs auto and manual vs manual is faster equally driven.

  • @tyrone121285 Best trap speed for a stock Mach1 has been 106mph and the best for an LS1 has been 107-108. That would be faster yes? Equally driven the LS1 is faster. Even with a better launch by the Mach1 the LS1 will reel in the Stang when both cars are equally driven (unless they're both autos in which case the LS1 will be faster regardless of driver).

  • i had a 99 ls1 z28 auto with 107k, later got an 03 mach1.i have been a ford guy since i was younger(95gt, 85gt, 96 cobra, 03 mach1) but i would take ls1-the 4.6 just doesnt have the cubes to compare....and i dont mean just half second wins, etc...i mean gm hit the nail on the head with choosing a larger old style pushrod engine; the feel , the tone, the power band, and the f-body styling/handling...gm for the win, sorry ford, 5.4 was rite choice

  • Seriously- That should have been a Mach 1 win withreal stock to stock numbers- I've built both vehicles and TA's and Camaros can take stock Gt Mustangs no prob- Simple math- Mach Ones are VERY close to Cobra numbers on the track- We ran a Mach on Stock tires, with some slippage, and turned 12.89 at 109.

  • The Mach 1 weighs 3469 lbs and the WS6 weighs 3499 lbs, So pretty even. I can really feal a difference in performance when I am driving my Mach with passengers so a 200+ lb passenger will make a difference. Stock for stock, 5spd and 6 spd, I would put money on the Mach.

  • I wasnt making excuses, just simply stating that I/you can feel a difference with passengers, thus making the car slower. My argument was that stock for stock, the Mach would take the win, no passengers in either one. The Mach was underated at 305hp and 335tq so when the Mach has been proven closer to 320hp, wouldnt you then assume the tq numbers would also be a little closer to 345-350? The Mach has the same hp as the T/A and more tq. Mach takes the win, 13.13 @ 105.51 mph is the best Ive seen.

  • the Machs arent as fast as you say. i raced a slighty modified Mach against my '01 ws6 when it was stock and he didnt pull on me till we hit 70mph. plus i ran a 13.2 bone stock on regular street tires with a 90 degree temp and 112 degree track temp. the N/A cobras were faster than the Machs and they were tested by car&driver (among others) not as fast as the f-bodies.

  • Could be mechanical issues... Nobody ruled them out. Why would you be out filming a street race, let alone a rematch, if you had these problems? Hard to tell if the Mach is a 5spd or auto. I say the Mach lost because the WS6 was more heavily modded. I know that a full Bassani exhaust will add close to 30 HP to a Mach, so I guessed it would add that to a WS6.
