  • that is a good approach to teaching the lick, building it from the basic rhythm up. Nice job.

  • Great, just GREAT!!, And a most excellent Byrdland that you've got there.

  • @jesterd14 You are very kind to say so. Thank you! Kinda helps keep me goin':::::)

  • Great video!

  • @klv400 Thank you!! Nice channel you got there

  • What kind of amp are you using?

  • @sincitycycler Think I was plugged into a line 6 on that one. If not, it was a Crate half stack. My newest vid is a TSL 100 Superlead Marshall. Guess I'm still searching:)

  • thanks for the reply steve.

o yeh the real one florentine cut.

ive red on forums its a cemical reaction between pguard and pickupcover(should have said corrosion)

weird stuff that celluloid, heard about old movies in a can that spontanious can ignite.

steve i am puzzled you swapped the nr6 for the hr fusion,

how did you get your second byrland?

and in terms of feedback me think the hr is more controlleble?

can send you pics of the '68

but need an emailadress for it.

    be good brother.

  • @harryw3211 I figured Corrosion is what you meant. I traded Ted's Byrd number 6 that I obtained nearly 20 years ago for the HR Fusion with Ted. I do not currently own a Byrdland of Ted's. The HR came from Ted to me. He got the better of the deal in terms of guitar but I would have never forgiven myself if I didn't make the deal with Ted. I bought a 68 Byrd a few years ago. It's the one with Ted's sig. on it in many of my videos. Ted checked it over when he signed it and gave it full approval!

  • great video steve thanks.

whats that talk about your hair, forget it dont limit yourself your a good guy yes you are.

dont tell me you forgot lesson 1 from uncle ted; attitude attitude etc.

need your help bad,im going to have a look on a '68 byrdland.

on the picture it has some green snot between pickguard and pickup.

that d... celluloid, how much does it affect the coils?

  • @harryw3211 Thanks for the confidence:) You got it, attitude all the way:) I wouldn't guess from your description it would effect the coils. They are likely under a pickup cover. Green snot is usually cleanable in my experience. Don' know what kind of finish you'd be left with. Mine is a 68 too. Are you looking at Florentine Cutaway model?

  • I dig the spearchucker.

  • Damn, it took me like 30 seconds to learn the riff when I was 14. It is not rocket science...

  • @Lagomort I never said I was good

  • @Lagomort yeah the song was ez to learn but we got to remember not everyone is great ive been playing 4 2years teaching myself n i can almost play the song all the way through.

  • @Lagomort yeh right i was 13,but did not post it too.

  • yup. that's abt how i feel ... i'd play it like that.

  • Is there a center block of wood in that? If not, I thought that a hollow body feeds back to much.

  • @mapleblackdrums No, No center block in a Byrdland. Much more unusual in rock n roll. When it comes to Ted, feed back is what you need, the challenge it controlling it:)

  • sounds so right on, man. would prefer if you would play it through at the beginning (or did you?). great work!

  • Is that an ES 335 ?

  • @CHIPDADDY1000 No, it's a 1968 Byrdland. Like the ones The Nuge plays. Much more special than a 335:):)

  • lol 3:11 u can finger that how ever u like

  • lol 3:13 u can finger that how ever u like

  • Excellent breakdown on the Classic Stranglehold riff by the "Master of Rock" Guitar Riffage !!!

  • @SqueekyDc Thanks for the encouragement! I will take all I can get:) Just need more time!

  • trust me the nug knows his notes he was bein a smartass lol

  • @farleycl1 lol... Didn't mean Nuge didn't know 'em. He said he pays what he hears and doesn't pay much attention to the notes if my recollection is correct.

  • sounds bout right the only thing that sounded flat to me is the "d" until you rly started playing it thru thnx a load man even tho i didnt need it i just wanted to listen to u play

  • Great vids!!!

I was wondering if you could break down the fingering that happens at 1:36 on the first Stranglehold vid. You talk about the barr at the 5th, then your fingers flutter and I miss it.

  • @paguaplayer Thanks! Not sure if I can help much in verbiage, I can put a breakdown vid on my list but I will say, the part you are talking about (the flutter) has less going on than your ears and eyes are taking in.

Your pointer finger can stay barred on he D string down (5th fret) and your ring finger only rises when alternating with what you are barring. The key to it sounding right may have more to do with your right hand and muting with your palm while chomping A. Let me know how it goes!

  • @ByrdmanSteve actually YOUR vid is quite clear. Somehow my request on another vid got posted to yours. Sorry about that.

You have a great tone(the Byrdland helps!) and I love the memorabilia you have in the background. Thanks for the lessons!!

  • @paguaplayer No problem. Thanks for the explanation.. Take care

  • that is not the way it is played watch teds vid there no open cords and when he moves up the neck he uses a cord if you are going to teach dont teach wrong

  • @TheStratoblasterhe this is right. dumb fucking idiot

  • love the lessons man keep em coming

  • @meekinator03 Thanks for the encouragement! Will do my best:)

  • how much did you pay for that byrdland?

  • This really helped me learning the song. Thanks!

  • @wharz123 Thanks for letting me know.. Keep at it.. Let me know if I can help some more..

  • his guitar sounded so sick

  • Glad you found it, I was counting on ya!! How you been? I just watched the vid you dedicated to me last night, it was a delight! I still need to figure out how you get the backgrounds,,, I teach you Ted, you teach me that!

    TTY

    Steve

  • @ByrdmanSteve Yowsa!! First ya get a green screen, and any video processor software. I use Pinnacle studio 12, they probably have updates to that now. I have used curtains or soft blankets that work but not the best. I got a real one on ebay for about 30 bucks, non reflective felt type.

  • @fourty5mag I'm using Final Cut Pro so I should have no problem I spose... Just aint easy for an aging, busy, stressed out cat like myself to learn new things these days....

  • @ByrdmanSteve I understand! Like me gitten this intro! LOL!!!

  • @fourty5mag It's all in the palm of the hand on the strings. That's it in a nut shell! The palm of your rigt hand spends as much time muting the strings as it does letting them ring during the riff. Keep the A bouncing and viola! Course in your mind you have to pretend to be Ted if you really want results:)

  • This almost slipped by me!! LOL!! Now maybe I can someday play like Ted!! Thanks Steve!!

  • Nice job Byrdman. What's that zebra guitar in the backround?

  • @fulbluntalernstmeyer I thought I might get some coments on that guitar when I noticed it in the background:) It is only a Westone with a backwards headstock. It plays great. It is actually tiger striped. A very talented friend of mine custom painted it for me years ago when I was playing on stage. I'l try to make it visible in next vid. talk Talk to you soon,,

    Steve

  • @ByrdmanSteve Oh nice, Keep up the good work.

  • nice lesson ..Steve : )
