  • Timeless, top to bottom...lyrics, vocals, musicianship...this one will ALWAYS shake me to the foundation...

  • PTM! qué gran canción.

  • @CarlitaTrendy Pra você!

  • My favorite's grandma song. Oh no no.!!! I like it because the meaning of the song is still trendy.

  • 1971, oh yeah the year I got married to a woman I didn't love. So sorry for all that I did to her. This song pretty well says it all. 17yrs of hell for both of us.

  • Its always an emotional connection. It's been 40 years, but the feeling is the same.

They don't make 'em like this anymore. Thankyou

  • Reminds me of my days during Air Force Basic tranning could always tell when a guy got a dear john letter you'd hear this song playing on the juke in the px with some guy sitting in a corner crying over his girls picture

  • @1968tigerfan Were you in San Antonio?

  • There should be more pictures of cats on album covers.

  • Carol and Carly- are the best.

  • One of the true great female vocalists of all time!

  • This Is The Good Stuff. My Dad & I Like The Same Kind Of Music. My Mom Likes All The New Stuff. She Doesnt Know What "Good" Is, Actually. =/

  • yeah carole king love you and your music all original accept no substitutes

  • Love this song! Thank you Lake House for giving me the music to find on soundhound.

  • I arrived to this planet in those years...listening radio again....so

it is never to late to say ::Thanks Carole King and Happy Birthday!!

  • If I recall correctly, Carole King tried to sell her Tapestry album, but no one wanted her doing the singing. Everyone loved the songs, but had a different artist in mind for them. She stuck to her guns, and eventually launched it herself to become the best selling album, at some 35 million sales worldwide, until Michael Jackson's "Thriller." I love that aspect of it; it makes listening to it all the sweeter!

  • If Weird Al did this song, it would be entitled, "It's Kool-Aid Baby!"

  • i herd this song on the radio yesterday, and i just had to listen to it again and again.

  • i was 11 back in june 17 1971 ,lived in chicago that time, im victor m oquendo from caguas puerto rico, i wish her the best, god bless her

  • Man, This is totally my ex wife's and my song. Funny how a song can hit the bullseye on life situations. Thanks, Carole.

  • Happy Birthday, Carole... you're one of the greats!

  • Happy Birthday, and thnks for all your great songs!!!

  • Love this album but man she has messed up toes ..... Love her though

  • Happy 70th birthday Carole, you gorgeous, God-like genius, you...:-)

  • Happy Birthday Carole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Describes my relationship perfectly :/

  • Adele is the modern version of Carole King :)

  • @itsamenancy

Thats like comparing a Ford Pinto to a Lexus!

  • She is just magic,,, unbeleivable talent

  • timeless piece of music....perfection!

  • Did she write this regarding her 1st marriage to Jerry?

  • One of the greatest songs of all time

  • Tapestry was number 1 on the Billboard 200 for 15 consecutive weeks, and held the record for most weeks at number 1 by a female solo artist for over 40 years until surpassed by Adele's 21 in 2012.[4] It still holds the record for most consecutive weeks at number 1 by a female solo artist.

  • This was my mother,s album, we used to sing so hard all of the songs, we were so happy, I really miss her

  • @psisandri

    me: hahahehehe he

    -starts crying-

    SADNESSSSS

  • Leave us all face it--Carole King sets that standard that distaff songwriters are measured against. Without Miss King, there would be no Linda Creed, Laura Nyro, Dianne Warren, have I forgotten anyone?

If you agree, raise your hand.

  • I was 16 and my boyfriend bought the tapestry for me.....i think i wore it out it was on an 8 track wow the years flew by lol...Anyways thanks to you Donnie I always loved Carole King and always will !!!

  • ( continued for lack of space )

Every once in a while Roselynn comes to mind. I have never seen her since then. But I am sure that it is a good thing.

  • It was 1971, my girlfreind Roselynn worked at Hudsons in the record department. She played this album constantly. I thought that she was the best thing to ever happen to me. I bought a house for us, we were engaged, my Mother was writing out wedding shower invitations when I went to her house and made the announcement; "Roselynn left me." I was devistated beyond belief. That was February 1973. In December of that year I was married to my present wife.

  • @MrUncleglenn , That's the trouble with certain songs, they also remind you of the "downs" in life, in full technicolour as it were. I hope things turned out well for you, but....I do know how you feel, good luck mate.

  • Love her !!!

  • I am almost 42 years old & if I remember correctly I grew up listening to Carole as a kid in the 70's? I was really introduced w/her Tapestry album & that is one of the BEST albums/cassette/CD(?) I have. It's great when you can put it in & just push play. My daughter & I listened 2 it & now My granddaughter & I listen 2 it. She's AWESOME!!

  • I am 55, and I remember eating in a Jewish deli in Boca Raton, Florida talking to a guy that was related to Carole King....

  • Carol King is such an awesome singer and this song too! Why did music have to change so much?

  • there"ll be good times again for me and you

but we just can't stay together

    don't you feel it too

but i'm glad for what we had

and how I once loved you...<3

  • Every song on the LP was a hit by itself. Do not fool yourself. Carol was/is KING!

  • el nrdo esta tonnnnto

  • ouch!! :'( what a great song!!! :)

  • Back when music was real with instruments

  • 24 million albums in 6 years.....the eagles had to put out a greatest hits to take the top spot all-time....then MJ killed it with thriller....still 24million is damn good for 70's or 00's standards

  • @panamajack612 Huge Eagles fan... I may have been born in the 90's but the 70s had the best music... best cars...wish I gre up then

  • Stayed in bed all morning just to pass the time...

  • i love my mom and the last time i herd this song it was 1972 it was on the radido and i was in ; my crib i was listining to the radio at the time i dont rembrer at the time i was onley 2

  • So talented xx

  • Oh, wait, anybody knows who plays the piano???

  • @JustinRebeccaBlack

Carole King – Piano, Keyboards, vocals, background vocals

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1

Oh, thank you! What a talented woman.

  • @JustinRebeccaBlack Carol King plays.

  • @JustinRebeccaBlack -Carole King is playing the piano...I just saw her on a late night show recently....SHE SHE BLEW IT AWAY ON HER PIANO!! I love her, know all her songs...read them and memorized every word...and now my kids sing it!! Love you Carole!!!

  • @JustinRebeccaBlack Yes I play the piano.

  • SO CLASSY!

  • This is a great old song. Carole King sings it perfect.

  • Carole King has the best music

  • the ones who write their own songs always find their way to the top. that's why taylor swift is so successful

  • The cream will always surface. i.e. Susan Boyle.

  • the chorus is intoxicating...

  • Unfortunately, when it's over, it's over. Time has nothing to do with it. Some things just can't be fixed.

  • when my ex broke up with me she said maybe in the near future we could try again. then as the future came and she got her own place i wanted to ask her about us. but i didn't, cause something was different. then today i heard this song on tv and looked it up and listened to it...it was as if i realized what was wrong. everything was put into words in this song. i realize now that i have to move on. easier said than done of course

  • @gorillaz1690 .... You got it.......

  • FASCINANTE!!!

  • If you want to get your point across to someone in your life...just play them this tune.

  • I had this album when I was a teen. Does that tell my age? haha I love this song. All her songs. Along with my best boy friend Jon. we had such a great time together I miss it so much. Life was so much easier then. Wish I could go back. Jon is go to heaven and I am still here. Alone.

  • This takes me back! I was a little girl when I heard this beautiful beautiful soul food this is.3

  • I love this song in a strange sort of way, It takes me back a long time to when my first true love had dumped me. Up early for work the next morning I turned the radio on and this came out, she almost mirrored the words I heard the night before.

  • i'm 21 and i love this song <3

  • I just love her

  • Tapestry is still one of the best albums

  • @fringbenefit tapestry is allways and forever top albums.

  • This lady was born a talented songwriter.

  • Adele is no talent.....are you kidding...she is Bubble Gum Pop music!

  • @MrSpencerPort there are serious musicians out there. Unfortunately all the mainstream is targeted at a younger audience. Lots of good folk/singer songwriter stuff out there, you just have to broaden your horizons a teet.

  • This album stayed on the charts longer than any other including the Beatles until Dark side of the Moon. I still think this is better.

  • Tapestry was a rare album. Seemed every song lasts until today, without diminishing in time. I had a couple albums I considered like this, Croce had one also. Haha, no side B. And to say that of an album is saying a lot.

  • @meglaw69 That's a really unkind thing to say about people who are famous today. Granted, there are people curiously devoid of talent who are quite successful, but that's true of every era. We just forget most of those people after a comparatively short time, when they're replaced by someone equally boring and talentless. I think Carole King would still be successful, though her music might sound a little bit different, who knows?

  • I LOVE THIS SONG THE FIRST TIME I HEARD IT I WAS LIKE 6 years OLD

  • ' oh no no' great :D

  • the greatest album of all time....one for the record books....

  • mm she has voice like an afroamerican soul singer

  • nobody has a voice like carole king

  • i think that with this song carole king does all her explaining and answer's everyone's questions and she does all of it with such class and taste. this is one of my all time favorite song that she does. she doesn't owe anyone anything at all she is and always will be her own person.

  • My favorite song from her! Thanks for putting this up here it brings me back to my childhood listening to that song with my mum in the car.

  • It amazes me that somehow songwriters can retain some form of private and personal life while sharing with the rest of the world very intimate thoughts in the form of song. It is as though they already view their lives as transparent and universal already. So why not sing about it? Carol King thereby, in my book, is a treasure. Revelatory in a way. Why wouldn't we love her? She tells us about ourselves by revealing herself.

  • @meglaw69 That's not true.

    Adele's great success disproves that

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1 funny you mention Adele. I was just listening to her album when I thought of this song. I agree with you and meglaw69. There are too many carbon-copy musicians out there, but artists like Adele give me hope for the future of music. Hopefully I can contribute to that future as well. =)

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1 Unfortunately, Adele is the exception in today's music industry :(

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1 adele's one of the exceptions. :)

  • @sparkypullstheplug

Adele's the exception that proves the rule-bring the world true talent, & it will succeed above & beyond all of the crap.

In 20-40 years, people will still reference her album they way people reference & regard Carole King's "Tapestry".

  • My #1 favorite song ever. I'm 56 yrs old now, this came out when I was in high school. Back then it had such relevance to the break-up with my first love. That big time High School Heartbreak. Forty yrs later.....I still think of him when I hear this song. In hindsight.....he was "the one". I recently saw him at his sisters funeral. Sure, emotions were running high.....but when he grabbed my hand........Oh God, what a reaction I had. I'll never forget it.....or him. "But it's too late baby".

  • @Chichester1972 One of the best 'comments' I've ever read on Youtube! So honest and real. Sorry for the high school sweetie but indeed, "it's too late!"

  • This song was one of my favorites before I even truly understood the lyrics ... I grew up with music like this . True un altered talent . These days all you need to do is look good and be able to dance and they will make you a star . All you do is sell your soul and let them use a vox on your vocals they will do the rest..

  • one of the best songwriters of all time

  • one of my favorite songs of all time

  • My mom played this one a lot during her divorce with my dad in the 70's. 30 years later for me it was more personal.

  • @racerxnsx

I'm going to give that comment a YIKES!!!

    Hits too close to home!

  • authentic insight

  • Oh, sweet bliss. But ya know what, it's NEVER too late!

  • TO ME ALL MY LIFE I SAW CAROLE KING AS A HIPPY CHICK.

NOW I ASK, WHO DOESN'T LOVE A HIPPY CHICK?

    GIANFRANCO FRONZI. NOV./12/11

  • Time Life brought me here

  • @aSKATEm Same here

  • Says a lot. Just how I feel.

  • I love this song

  • I think I'll always love this song..

  • I love this song!!! A true classic!!!

  • This song will live on forever.

  • I always thought Carole King was black...

  • better to have loved and lossed rather then to have never loved at all...

  • Never gets old ! Always a great song !

  • Carole Kings' Tapestry album IS the best popular music release of the 20th century. Says a lot huh? Nothing against Elvis, Sinatra, The Stones ect. But when you listen to this album, it is timeless. It (the album) could have been released in 1981 or 1991 and been just as phenomenal. 1901 through 1961 don't count .Nothing against this period but way different. She kicked the shit out of 1971. I hope someone reads this.Stayed on Billboards top albums for over a decade.

  • wow cute foot

  • 20歳ごろ FENでよく聞いていました。

  • Perfect song from the perfect album

  • A classic.. something you don't find in today's music

  • Wow Seatbelts copied this song with theirs song "DNA"

  • my favorite song off the tapestry album ♥

  • Carol King came up with a beautiful group of songs that just have so much soul in them. Her Tapestry Album was something that only comes along once in a life time. It has so much emotion behind it. It goes without saying that it is timeless.

  • love the cats...and the song as well...

  • When i hear this song, Idream with a perfect woman, and finally found in my wife, Pat thank you for belong to me an for gave to me wonderfull kids,God bless you

  • Tapestry is one of the best albums ever and forever!!!! I love all songs from this album and i celebrate it listen to them!!!!

  • Carole King simplesmente demais em Its Too Late

"...Há algo de errado aquiQue não pode ser negadoUm de nós está mudandoOu talvez nós apenas tenhamos parado de tentar...."

  • This song is a perfect eample of why we need more musicians and not just karaoke singers. Take for example Rhianna or any of the "singers" on the charts today that came from American idol or god knows what other show. Give me talented songwriters like this over any of that dress like a slut dance club electronica music bullshit.Howdid we go from this to the crap that is on the charts today/

  • I love this song.

  • This song is very haunting. Catchiest chorus ever! My moms tunes, and all these years later, still with me. Proof of a great song.

  • I love this song, I was 3 back in 71 when I first heard it and we had the Tapestry Album. Even the cat looks like my first cat. In 2011 I still appreciate the instrumental part in the middle, it is moving and peaceful. I am kind of glad that there are some good top 40 songs in 2011 by Adele, like Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like you which I can kind of connect to King's sound. Sara Barellies in 2007 has a couple of good songs too.

  • ahhh.. the song is back up!!

  • That cat on the cover looks scary as hell #dord This has been and will continue to be the best make out there.

  • the one i heard on the radio is so much better, of course the radio station can adjust everything to make it sound better

  • women never really love outside of maternal, they will use and only show emotion when loseing something they are not quit tired of or their security, a man with money is far less likly to lose his women .... case proven!!!

  • I love this song.

  • Great song! Really Bluesy guitar solo. It is short...but man is it great!

  • Me encanta esta canción, es hermosa, sencilla y fugaz...

  • Plus there's a kitty on the album cover

  • I love her voice! It's like deep and beaitiful, makes me feel pain and happiness, I don't know, is so strange, in a wonderful way.

  • @Abranime18

The pain comes from the dissolution of a failed relationship, and the resulting disappointment.

The joy comes from the clarity to know when to stop trying to fix something that never really worked.

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1 It's a true story.

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1 PERFECT!!!!!!

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1 Wow... that's really heavy, man, and right on!

  • @TheReturnOfStephan1 - Very well said...

  • @Abranime18 Ahh yes, that is what the 60's and 70's were about!

  • Awesome music! There is nothing like classic music!

  • This song and Fleetwood Mac's 'Landslide' have to be two of the most touching songs of all time.

  • i need no film or suggestion she has allaways been a fan....

  • Gloria Estefan did a cover of this. It's quite good.

  • Thumbs up if the 1985 movie "Fandango" brought you here.

  • an evergreen... i love it

  • Saw her on A&E today with James Taylor. Still making music....

  • God, thank you for creating Carole King and giving her the gift of song. Beautiful : )

  • Been in love with her for a lonnnng lonnnng time ;-)
