  • Look it up, there is actually a shirt that says "TUBA HERO" and has a tuba in the same format as the guitar. I'm gonna get it when I can.

  • my school band is playing this next year, I am the tuba player in said band

  • I just got through playing in the pit orchestra of the musical Chicago and I just realized that there are so many little licks they nabbed from this song.

I just wish the recording were cleaner.

  • who cares wat the name is and enjoy the music lol

  • TUBA POWERRRRRR...

i play tuba so i had to do that

  • Wow this group of musicians is amazing......the sound just like the Canadian Brass when they play this song.....Bravo!!!!!

  • Royal AirForce, LOL! Funny name for a band...

  • @2BunnyReturns oh do please explain

  • @Scoobermabbz

They called their band "royal airforce" or something. LOL!

  • @2BunnyReturns The quintet is part of a larger band called the RAF Central Band, They are all serving members of the Royal Air Force in the UK, so they didnt pick the name for no reason, its their military band.

  • @m3kth

That is still a funny name for a band or military.

Gotta love those good ol' england people.

Although Salt and Vinegar flavor potato chips are amazing though, LOL! Guess I've got a tiny bit of England inside of me.

  • @2BunnyReturns Not really. Royal Air Force is the military name, just like US Army, SAS or Navy Seals. If any one of these military networks had a band then they would be called US Army (Location) Band. In this case, Central refers to the London base, thus the main "central" band of the Royal Air Force.

  • @m3kth

Right. "US Army" sounds a lot more mature than "Royal AirForce", sounds almost like from a young children's book or something, LOL!

  • @2BunnyReturns Dont mock the RAF... they have done more for anyone else than you could ever imagine. Get some research done before you post silly things like this.

  • @m3kth

    For instance....

  • @m3kth RAF as in royal air force? lol just wonderin

  • @2BunnyReturns apart from the fact that it just doesn't, the royal air force is far better.

  • @nobbynooby

    What doesn't do what?

  • @2BunnyReturns

Another ignorant American ladies and gents.

  • @nonoseman1

Ignorant, huh? I'm not the one that blatantly ignored the question at hand. Ladies and Gentlemens, that makes ME ignorant! That makes SOOOO much sense too, LOL! ☺

  • @2BunnyReturns

Oh God, I hope you don't breed.

  • @nonoseman1

"NoNoseMan" says, "Ignorance is Bliss". ☺

Is someone just grouchy because he was owned in YouTube and couldn't come up with a better comeback? ☺☺

  • @2BunnyReturns

Owned?! You're reply didn't even make sense! You said i was blatantly ignoring the question. So, what question would that be then?

  • Come on Mr Truscott on the Tuba!!!!

  • Great performance all round. The tuba player went down to the low C at the end and I was waiting to see if he would go for the Bb, but he took that up the octave. It has to be a good day to get a good low Bb on an Eb tuba! But well done!

  • im a tuba and my high school is trying to play this. we are taking it way too slow compared to this. fun song to play on tuba

  • soooooooo slooooooooow...................

  • I saw this at the RAF massed band 2008 tour at the SAGE Gateshead! loved it!

and for those people saying its "too straight" this video doesnt do it justice....it's a hell of a lot better live!

  • superbe; l'armée de l'air se joue de l'air!

  • lol... charming performance... I don't know though... Everyone seemed nervous... The only one that came across as normal is the trumpet player on the far left (our far left). Great job though...

  • really? i thought they actually looked like they enjoyed it. or at least acted like it....

  • Not bad. Doesn't compare with the Canadian Brass, though. Too straight.

  • Interesting comment........... sounds like the green eyed monster to me.

PS: Just had the pleasure of your videos :-/ I really wouldn't comment on these guys if I were you!

  • Well done mpmcd81. I'm sure you could teach this tuba player a thing or two. Especially your beautiful playing of J. S. Bach Air and Bourree for Solo Tuba. Wow

  • I don't have to. I make much better money as an engineering prof.

    Now go straight to hell.

  • Blah, blah, blah........ No one cares!!

PS: I'm impressed that you play the horn as well. Is that tenor horn? I would pay good money to see that - do you have any J. S. Bach arranged?

Can I collect £200 on the way to hell?

  • And I suppose that you are even marginally competent on a brass instrument.

Since I have no reason to believe that you have ever mastered any profession, I really don't have to give a damn about anything that comes out of your mouth.

My videos are there for me to use as benchmarks as I get back into playing, nothing more and nothing less. If you don't like them, then screw yourself, tinker.

  • One other thing. While the Arkansas brass are not overall musicians on this calibre they have a real understanding of dixieland and on this particular piece really outdid the RAF quintet.

Check it out for yourself and you might understand why I think this is a little straight.

    v=WC0ZvgxnVm0&feature=rec-HM-fresh+div

  • And who the hell are you to tell me what my preferences ought to be?

  • Not at all. They're terrific players and never said they were anything but. They're just too straight for the style of this song. I'm sorry dixieland is just a little different animal, and these guys sound like they don't play dixieland as their bread and butter.

I put the horn down for two years while getting an engineering job that the engineering equivalent of winning the NY Phliharmonic audition. I'm the first internal hire Vanderbilt has made in the engineering school in 20+ years.

  • Too bad no pedal B flat at the end:(

  • nice one!

  • Cute - Anyone remember Les Jackson - who could, on the concert platform, play Amazing Grace by playing a bass note and singing the melody and hum a descant! A legend in "B" band......

  • is that the canadian brass version?

  • Yes.

BTW, this performance is very nice. Nice cowbell. ;^)

  • can i get a composer for this song?

  • Nick LaRocca & The "Original Dixieland Jazz Band."

  • 1337 views :O

  • Thats my cousin Mike on the right! Immortalised on the net forever now cuz.

  • Very impressive - especially the kiwis!

  • Well done lads, keep practising!
