These protests are a manifestation of the deep-rooted resentment of the Tibetan people under the present governance.
As I have always said, unity and stability under brute force is at best a temporary solution. It is unrealistic to expect unity and stability under such a rule and would therefore not be conducive to finding a peaceful and lasting solution.
The thing is, despite all the growth that China has brought Tibet, Tibetans are still unhappy. They are unhappy that their children are forgetting their grandparents' customs and language. The thing is, despite all the growth that China has brought Tibet, Tibetans are still unhappy. They are unhappy that their children are forgetting their grandparents' customs and language. Despite China's efforts to convince them of the benefits of being Chinese, their hearts still want an independent homeland.

The Tibetans have a right to protest. However, they have no right going around burning down private property and murdering innocent bystanders unfortunate enough to be in their way. If this had transpired in the United States, the police would have certainly used harsh tactics or perhaps even opened fire. The Tibetans can demand for independence. However, they should do it peacefully (take a page from Gandhi).

seriously, i am not a supporter of CCP, however i also keep an open mind, let's compare the situation of Tibetants and the Aboriginals of Australia for example, both people are in very similar situation only that the later is a lot worse in terms of cultural lost, what about if China financially support the Aboriginals of Australia and provide them with weapons and training, so they can start a campaign claiming certain regions to form an independent nation from the Autralian government ?

Native Americans administer their own territory, issue their own passports, etc. China needs to catch up to how other countries (New Zealand, Canada) deal with native peoples living in their own countries.
