  • Placing them next to a running sink gives the same comfort... well, of course the only downside is that you'd waste some water.

  • thats the most adorable and beautiful thing ever....love it!

  • So, I asked my OB/GYN and pediatrician about this technique, and they BOTH said it is fine for the baby as it mimics the comforting sounds of the womb. Should I trust all of these doctors who have posted negative comments here more?

Great video. You must have had one of those "happiest babies."

  • Gosh I remember seeing a few of your videos of P.Grace a while back and again, what JOY this brings me!! She's so incredibly gorgeous!!

  • if you knew your childs cry she is actually showing the hungry cry!

  • Wow she is beautiful. :D Good job soothing her. She has quite bright eyes.

  • Well it worked...and hardly ''choking'' and way better than letting her bawl endlessly. Well done...

  • if he was choking her she wouldn't she be purple and not breathing? if he was hurting her ears wouldn't she cry more instead of being soothed? maybe you guys should consider reading or watching the dvd of The Happiest Baby on the block and learning what the 5's are and why he is doing what he is doing with his daughter before you make your ignorant comments.

  • what a beautiful, and very loved child!

  • what a beautiful, and obviously loved child!

  • Maybe you should not blow so hard in a new born's ear. Hopefully that beautiful child won't end up with ear damage or ear infections from dad's germs. I wouldn't call your technique the baby whisperer but the baby dominatrix. Maybe you let that child express herself, so she won't be submissive as an adult. Just a thought.

  • I don't see anything wrong with this at all! Wish I'd known about it 30 years ago when my kids were babies. Bravo Mom and Dad!!! Gee, I wonder if this works when you're an adult too?? LOL!!!

  • I see we just can't get rid of those morons with the mentality of a HOUSE PLANT!!!..the baby is so beautiful and the talking in the ear is very very calming to an infant...so Daddy...you did the right thing and i applaud you for not giving these shitheads much attention...God Bless all of you,

  • You people who think this is too loud for the baby it is NOT. The decibel rating of womb's continuous maternal bloodpulse is 95! A chainsaw is 100. A lawnmower is 90. A subway is 80. Figure it out.

  • great video...I love watching her after she's calm...huge eyes, what is she thinking? IS she thinking?...babie are mesmerizing!

  • that is just awesome! i love her little face!

  • she stop crying because he left her deaf and could not hear her own cry or because the choking?

  • I love when they sound like that!! Awwww....

  • Aww the little girl has down syndrome.

  • @monckeys ?????

  • @lacageaufolles ???????????????

  • Babies really creatures from hell. Look at that face!

  • God ppl, babies don't generally grow quieter when they feel an unpleasent sensation, they get louder. ever listen to a sick baby, or one getting a shot? they scream thier heads off. if this were hurting her she wouldn't be growing calmer.

  • Wow!!! You are incredible!! I wonder if there is any science behind this technique? Do you know?

  • That was so cute! I have to remember that when I have kids! lol

  • That's really loud for the baby. Their ears are very sensitive. Try it on your wife, it's quite loud. It's many times louder for the baby!

  • I had a daughter with severe colic and I would have killed for that technique. Awesome job.

  • thats not a babywhisperer. hes a special forces soldier who used to be in my team. thats his special technique "sleeperhold". he used to to this to soldiers we caught. and to the hostages we took. ey come on buddy. just tell the people the truth, its just a trick i showed you.

  • wow! that would hurt a lot!!!

  • My parents used to do this to me too, said they learned it from the hospital nurse back in the day. There are tons of videos and information on it. What youre doing is what they hear and feel in the womb, so naturally its calming to them =]

  • the baby is just hurting not enjoyng it

  • I see the discussion here about the sound if it is hurting her hearing or not. I am a medical student with pediatric/obstetric training - and it's a easy way to figure this one out! YOU try to do the same directly into some else's ear - it is in fact extremely loud and a VERY disturbing noise. Please don't do this. It may not affect her hearing in the long run, but it certainly hurt when you are doing it! A infant reacts to ongoing pain by becoming paralyzed with shock = it becomes quiet!

  • Love it! What a great dad. Don't bother with the internet trolls, I'm old enough to have grandbabies and I can tell you nothing it wrong with gently blowing in the ear unless they already have a problem. Besides anyone who watches the video can tell he's exaggerating the shhhhhhhh sound and not doing it by blowing hard...sweet baby.

  • You're an awesome dad what a great video and CUTEST BABY GIRL I'VE EVER SEEN good job to mom and dad!! make MORE!! lol :0)

  • Stop making him laugh!

  • You're lucky that baby can't stab you in the face. Just watching this makes me want to slap you. It's not a fucking balloon.

  • babies like white noise...

  • maybe guy's breath smelled so bad that the baby fainted lol

  • Are you trying to inflate the baby throuh the ear? Take your time, dude, he'll grow with time anyway

  • Hehe, you "Hush" her. That's what i will do at my son when he comes in may :)

The "Hushing" works on every baby, and animals i've noticed.

    It's an incredible technique.

  • @TheRecordead It works on adults as well. The hushing resembles a slow breath rate which the body unconsciously will replicate thus bringing the body in a more relaxed state.

The same works for heartbeats... :)

  • lol could I hire you jk. No one wants to hear their newborn crying, makes you feel helpless. This is cute. Did it work when she got her shots

  • now grab the neighbors pitbull and try it :)

  • It's an inflatable baby!

  • Nice triangle choke

  • To the people who think he's harming her ears... the sound of the the blood rushing around the womb is FAR louder. That's why they love vacuums, hair driers, etc. Loud white noise... just like the womb... The swaddle is the same idea, make it feel tight and confined. Works great for some babies. (For a while anyway.)

  • That is amazing. Nice job. Will have to remember that for whenever I have grand children. :-D

  • That is the cutest and most amazing thing I've ever seen! We are expecting in July and my husband will definately be trying out this technique!

  • excellent job dad!!!

that is very close to the same 'whoosh' sound that the baby hears in the womb......

  • Dude, you’re better than a vacuum cleaner or hair dryer: cheaper and quieter.

  • brilliant people... yes, i'm CHOKING and simultaneously destroying my daughter's ears! What a great technique eh? For all you conspiracy theorists, I'm happy to report that my daughter, now 4 years old has all of her hearing capabilities intact.... and she has never had an ear infection. I like to think that I was injecting, good healthy antibodies directly into her ear canal. So all you overly concerned ninnies can take a big deep sigh of relief and continue watching your cat videos.

  • it is so precious how her tiny little head fits in the crest of your hand. this is soooooooooooo lovely.....the pug is cute too.

  • it is so precious how her tiny little head fits in the crest of your hand. this is soooooooooooo lovely.....the pug is cute too.

and the way she looks at you when she has calmed down. omg. uncoditional love! its lovely to see things like this in world that is easy to be angry at.

  • @abdine sounds just like the womb would, I assume. Really! Great technique!!! Very impressed. Too bad people are all about negative energy...

  • @abdine I noticed that when I say "shhh" in my daugters ear she calms right down...calming effect like white noise in a mothers womb

  • he looks like he is choking the kid

  • @ShiaLapinki101 His hands were nowhere near her throat. She was a tiny newborn which indicates her lungs were still fairly ''new'' at such exercising.

  • the baby stopped crying because she was so deafened she couldn't hear herself

  • OMG, please don't do that directly into the baby's ear. Also great to swaddle, but I don't like to sleep on bumps; so please no lumps of material under the back from swaddling.

  • @Babiesfriend You moron. How embarrassing for you that you think you know about babies. This Dad is doing a great job, shut your crab hole and mourn your dusty/non-existent uterus elsewhere.

  • It looks like a little Eskimo baby!

  • It really works.. I tried it on two babies. one of the babies was sick w/asthma talk about in pain :-( trust and believe when I did this little one was knocked out within one minute. The little girl lol kept climbing on me for more whispers. I guess its calming to them

  • Mom.... no disrespect, but.... SHUSH UP!!!! Daddy's workin' his magic here!

  • poor thing...the cry comes from his past life experience.....everything that happens to us in this lifetime has to come from a past life that causes trouble in our lives...

  • @wdeadman49 lolno

  • hahaha you guys are great.... congrats!

  • that was beautiful :)

  • get the dvd the happiest baby on the block!

  • I think the dog liked that too!

  • i do that to... funny, it works

  • Awww! Way to go dad, good job....

Visit my profile for a natural & effective way to calm your baby.

  • That's one young bubba!

  • whatcha all moaning for i thought that was just brilliant, sweet mum and dad,:) you would do anything for your baby anything at all i thought this was very very sweet stop moaning

  • I know this isn't the point of the video, but awww @ the dog blinking sleepily.

  • aw the pug just wants to help!

  • Awe! the way she looks up at Daddy at the end is too precious, way to go Daddy!!

  • I never want one.

  • Wow, that was such a beautiful video!

  • that is like a straight jacket WTF? seriously and r u trying to give the kid an ear infection?

  • zazen, you are an idiot.... he was just making a statement,,,, they seem like wonderful parents :)

  • I love how she looks at daddy ... what a memory you've created and you can share with her when she gets older. Nice job, Dad! :-) 5*****

  • amazing... but how do u know baby is not cyring for a reason

  • I hum "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" into my baby's kneck. My husband runs the water to sooth her. They both work. Blowing air into anyones ear seems off to me.

  • she had real tears. lol

  • According to the dunstanbaby method, this baby is actually telling you she has gas so 'shushing' in her ear only works as a distraction. You are not getting to the cause of the issue.

  • if this baby had gas, she wouldn't have stayed calm after he was done shushing

  • Um, no. That is not true of all babies. Gas pains come and go and some baby;s can be temporarily distracted so your comment to mine is not necessarily true.

  • so then what is wrong with distracting baby from a fleeting issue? would you prefer mom and dad just let her scream? she was fine after he was done shushing, so if it was gas, she was obviously no longer in pain from it or she still would be crying.

  • You must be "special" or your reading comprehension is impaired. I already said it is not getting to the cause of the issue. Sure, a distraction is fine but she would just be crying again soon. You made a statement which was inaccurate, by calling out a post I made 2 months ago and I responded, period.

  • So what do you suggest instead? If she started crying again, I am sure that the parents would realize that their methods were not working AT THAT POINT, and give gas drops, pump her legs, do whatever they needed to do. My problem with your comment is that it is a know-it-all comment, that leaves no room for the possibility that the child could just be cranky or tired for no reason, and that the parents are actually doing what is best for their little girl.

  • I already said what I suggested. Once again, you are unable to pass basic reading comprehension. I mentioned the Dunstanbaby method which is not full proof, but very helpful. So is the 'Happiest Baby on the Block.' You are so ridiculous that further dialog with you would be a waste of time and brain cells. All you want to do is argue instead of ACTUALLY READ, what I wrote. Good day.

  • The Dunstan Baby Language model simply explains how to tell what the baby is complaining of- if you believe in that model. However, it does not explain WHAT TO DO once you know. All I am suggesting is that the father in this video is doing nothing wrong, even if that baby is saying "Eairh". I don't see what's wrong with calming a baby down before addressing the underlying issue, IF the issue is gas to begin with. In my experience, babies are unable to pass gas if they are screaming and tense

  • don't blow into the ear, but near the ear.

  • @hypatience Ya the white noise is a wonderful idea but I just don't know if blowing IN her ear is such a good idea...

  • might be too much pressure for little, tender ears

    @hypatience

  • that was the best wrapping buy a guy i have ever seen. I have had 4 and there arms still seem to flay in the wind after my husband wraps my babies.

    well done daddy

  • No it won't. The baby was in the womb where it was nosier than a vacuum 24/7. And if you notice as she is quieter longer he quiets down.

  • If always make like this very tired. People say put between the mother's boobs, let baby hear your heart jumping, also can stop baby cry.

  • only the sound of the blowing is soothing, not the actual blowing into the ear, best off recording a running tap or a hair dryer........also saves your time of blowing in someones ear lol

  • Must've read "Happiest Baby on the Block". It savedus. Have now read "Aware baby" and know it is ok to cry sometimes But at the time just wanted to make him happy and less fussy. Also, took him to a competent chiropractor beginning 2 months -BIG help! 4 hours pushing in labor had left his neck sore. by the end of the day he had trouble nursing. Dr. wanted PT but Chiro was all he needed. now sleeps through the night just fine. Those early months do end:)

  • Wooww!! I'm very Impressed.. You're a Superman !

  • that baby is PRECIOUS! (lovin' all that hair!)

  • I'm impressed. I'm not a mommy yet, but I will be this winter and any little technique that might work for a fussy baby I'm willing to make note of. Thanks for sharing.

  • I am a mother of a two and a half year old and the technique works.

I say you should get the video "Happiest Baby on the Block".

I find it was a "sleep" saver.

The baby in this video is so darling.

    How old is she?

  • That baby is adorable. What a cutie pie and great parents. Lucky little pumpkin. :) Nicely done.

  • This technique DOES work! I learned it (and so did this father) from Dr. Karp. He has a series of videos and CDs called "The Happiest Baby" on the block (google it yo!)....I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

  • wow.. as you watch the last 15 seconds or so, it seems so magical; that she's silently looking around

  • At what point does dad get out of breath? lol

  • ======CAUTION======

I would not recommend blowing into the ear. It is very possible to unknowingly blow something into there that could cause an infection or irritation to their ear canal or drum.

  • Are you actually speaking from any kind of medical experience? Because I've seen a trained paediatrician use this technique.

  • Trained pediatricians perform abortions too.

  • I'll take that as a no then.

  • Doesn't take medical experience to understand logic. We don't bleed people anymore do we? HOw about putting maggots on an open wound? Take it as you like. The medical field is still lacking in common sense. Are you a pediatrician?

  • No, but I know I can trust the techniques of a trained doctor over someone who pulls baseless cautions out of their rear end.

I'm sure you'll want to get into some anti-scientific arguments about how doctors can't be trusted, but I'm really not interested.

I'm just glad readers now know they don't need to needlessly worry over your invented 'caution'.

  • i was reading an article that toke me to this vid. when i was watching it, i get worried if this baby would ever developed an otitis, i hope not, 'cause her daddy was doing it with love and care. not a pediatrician, but a kindergarten teatcher. also had someone blowing to my ears and din't like it at all. you should ask someone to do it to you and then tell us how you felt. your ear should be old enough to resist! take care!

  • After the initial strangeness, I wouldn't find it unpleasant if it was done into my ear, no. it's NOT blowing into the ear with your mouth sealed on it - it's just a shhing sound NEXT to the ear.

If the child found it distressing, they'd continue to cry. Quite logical, really.

And since I typed that message, I've had my third child, and the technique works wonderfully! :) So now I have experience as well as the advice of trained medical professionals about it.

  • Turning on the water sink is way better than blowing in the ear lol, that works too

  • Maybe that is how it sounded inside the womb. :O) Baby is beautiful, dog is cute. Great job Dad, are you for hire?

  • not trying to sound rude, im honestly just curious, doesn't it hurt and or damage the childs eardrum by blowing in it?

  • dont you choke that baby

  • LOL. I meant womb. LOL. I find myself doing that a lot lately when typing fast. I may right "are" instead or "or" or "Want" as oppose to "Won't" or vice versa. But thanks for bring that to my attention. I'm really a literate man. as oppose to a "literal" man. LOL

  • From what I understand it helps to mimick the security and sounds of being in the wound. The confined space of the uterus and the swoosh swoosh sound of the heart beat and amniotic fluids have become a source of comfort over the months inside the uterus.

  • It's more like the sound of the mother breathing that the baby is hearing. Running water also works as it replicates the fluid sounds within the womb.

  • lol thats truly amazing thanks il try that on my daughter wen she finaly arrives lol precous lil baby

  • i dont understand the technique. Its really cool, but i dont understand how it hanppens, anyone wanna elaborate for me?

  • wrong spot...further behind the ear

  • thanks for the vid! I will try that trick at the baby orphanage where I volunteer next month! can't wait!

  • WOW!! good job dad!

  • thats awsome dude how the hell do u do that nice tittle lol

  • shes sooooooooooooooooooo freakin tiny!! shes a cutie...good job dad lol

  • The technique worked on the dog also, he's asleep too!

  • aww such a tiny baby

  • Dude! I baby sit all the time for this little baby across the street. I SHOULD HAVE TRIED THAT!

  • thats one uber tiny baby!!!

  • thats really good but it kind of looks like your choking her to silence

  • Thats what u gotta do...CHOKE'EM!!....LOL, JUST KIDDING..NICE TRICK

  • i agree

  • wow xD impressive skill

  • Dr. Karp's Method works so great, doesn't it? This is why I recommend the Happiest Baby on the Block to everyone--it really works! (Not the baby whisperer, though, her book sucks)

  • She's such a good girl! For one second in the middle of the video I almost thought he was my aunt's boyfriend with my cousin Emily (when she was smaller). Gosh that is such a neat trick! ^-^

  • wow

  • Alan this is mike your old neighbor cute baby and she cries just like you..........

  • Good to have a laugh in an otherwise stressful situation

  • GOOD JOB DAD! OMG! This is the cutest and almost awe-inspiring video. You can really tell you love her. This is a perfect family video w/ dog mom baby dad in one of 'those' moments. If we have another one of our own, can we fly you in from Texas?

  • darn it he is a friggin genious! Ishould have tried this move with mine!

  • great jod dad..... get ready for the terrible 2 your.going to need a bag full of candy to knock her out and patients.

  • the child looks so mortified at 2:38! :D

  • This was ssoo adorable....The mom was funny...cute dog lol

  • what a good daddy!

  • omg this is sooo adorable

  • omg this is sooo adorable

  • It's called swaddling. Newborn babies do not have control of their limbs and often like the feeling of being snug and secure. The book "The Happiest Baby on the Block" by Dr. Harvey Karp dicusses techniques just like the ones used in the video.

  • Maybe if she stopped making dad laugh it wouldn't have taken as long.

  • would that not be hard on the babies ear?

  • No, it doesn't hurt the baby's ear. it's nothing compared to what they hear in the womb.

    It's the ultimate calming technique.

  • Next time you should give credit to Dr. Harvey Karp and "The Happiest Baby on the Block" dvd.

  • Or the book--either way, that IS where these techniques were published.

  • GREAT CLIP!!! Well done dad. A little less commentary from mum though next time :)

  • Wow it must sound like the inside of the mommys tummy

  • Cute baby, congradulations!

  • ooh i must try out this trick! lucky you had moby there to help out

  • The babies head looked like it was getting bigger.

  • Haha! Inflatababy!
