inside the front is actually your fuel tank! and the weird thing is it has a fuel pump switch to the right of the gas pedals. it woudnt start till we found that
I found the car very appealing until I read a bit about it in the German motoring press - and was less impressed afterwards.
Apparently the car didn't handle really well neither on the road nor in the water.
On the road, the boat shape created aerodynamic lift so cornering at middle speed became rather fussy. In the water, you had the four wheels slowing the thing down.
Worst of all: the Triumph engine was very unreliable - just what you want out on the lake
I think I saw one of these in Tennessee when I was a little kid! It just drove right into a lake. I saw one last week, in WV, on the back of a trailer. If I could, I'd get one in a second.
I took a ride in one of these back in 1968 and it was a blast! I wish he had opened the engine and trunk hoods rather then explain the lights etc. They were no bigger then a Ford falcon or a Chevy Two, and were very simliar in layout.
Well done! Back in the early 70's, I witnessed an amphicar plunge into Convict Lake in the Sierra Mountains. I've been facinated ever since. Your video answered many of my questions. Do they require extensive maintenance? What about water-seals where the axels meet the hull?
Great instructional video.

I really liked the ending there! Great tour, I have enjoyed both your Bricklin and Ampicar tours :)
I'm guessing you like collecting unusual cars?

I've seen a couple of Amphicars but I never would've thought of both a bilge pump, and a bilge blower. Thanks for enlightening me.

Now I know what the amphicar can do and what it has. Excellent video but you should test the bilge pump in the water or in a toilet large enough!

Your discertation was rather dry, but very informative and well done. Since I know little about them, I now feel like I have some useful insight. 5*!

Nice video. I enjoyed watching it even though I already knew about all of the Amphi's features.
