  • Tony ZUROVEC is my idol.

  • The All-Time BEST Gaming Soundtrack of all Time, Hands Down Just wish I had a version that played on modern systems (P-4 or better) without having to mount a drive and reconfigure the computer to play it.

  • Comment removed

  • The riff beginning at 1:19 has literally been stuck in my head for about 17 years.

  • Games just don't seem to go for these sort of rocking soundtracks anymore :( It's all overblown Hollywood-orchestra stuff

  • Man, this brings back memories. The good ol day´s indeed.

  • Diablo-clone?! Crusader: No Regret predates Diablo...

  • Loosecannon16

  • hey, i uploaded it in (slightly) higher quality! (-;

    /watch?v=Jjhe6ypF6zc

  • Alright, I get what you are saying. Still I personally would put them in the same genre. I will admit I never played much of Overkill but, although more action oriented, I do find it and. Crusader similar in certain aspects. Just as I would place Resident Evil 3 and Silent Hill in the same genre, even with their obvious differences.

But, as I said, I get why you don't, and I am fine with that.

  • Very Cyberpunk.

  • @IggyHazard Very badass.

  • "In Pursuit of Greed" game has exactly same track

  • All this talk bout it bein' a Diablo clone... Only similarity to Diablo this game has is the Isometric Perspective view (The from an upward angle to create a sort of a 3d enviroment)... Diablo controls dont act as if you were playing from the first person view.

  • @DarkvindFromIllier Whoever calls this a clone is ignorant. This came before Diablo. Moreover, the designers of Diablo have written "we wanted a game like a cross between Crusader: No Remorse and Ultima Online."

  • I never had the game, but I played the demo to death. I loved this song then and I love it now!

  • Excellent music <3

  • Now that, was a great game.

  • Ahhh...good old Crusader...damn, i've played this game when i was 5. Remember, starting DOS, and typing VC.exe, then choosing Games/Crusader... yeah,so nostalgic...

  • HONDO

  • who cares if its a "clone" ? its a total different game, and they are both great.

  • Sweet song. What genre is this Crusader game? It looks maybe like a Diablo clone, or perhaps a Baldur's gate type.

  • Crusader is a series of single-player action games. Other than the isometric view, it doesn't have much in common with Baldur's Gate or Diablo.

  • Ah really? Sounds good, I think I'll check it out then.

  • Nice. I've had a torrent that contains this game on wait in uTorrent for a month now just because it's packed in a zip file with about 1000 other games. Is it worth the effort to DL the whole thing just to get this? I'm leaning towards yes but I need a shove.

  • They're outstanding games in my opinion (though I prefer No Regret, the second game in the series). I think a few words of caution are in order. I know some people who were turned off by the high difficulty. Also, the controls might take some time to master. I recommend trying the No Regret demo first.

  • Difficulty? Learning curve for controls? THIS IS MY KIND OF GAME! I love good old hardcore games that only GAMERS can play and casuals can't touch. Bring on the torrent.

  • i prefered no regret too. if you truly master the controls it is awesome. even on highest difficulty :D

  • I dont know that I'd say I prefer one to the other. Theres certain things about each one that I like. The only thing I hate is playing one, then trying to switch to the other. The buttons are mapped differently on the gamepad, because Regret has a few more actions you can do.

  • @TonboXChocho I'm with kobold on this one. Though the game is only difficult on the higher settings. I actually prefer No Remorse more. More interesting characters and something like a plot. Also, I like amassing a fortune and buying my arsenal, which No Regret does not have. No Regret definitely has better level design, though.

  • @TonboXChocho

if you're using bittorrent to download it, you can set it to NOT download any files except those you specifically select. so you can have your bittorrent client download only this game if you want, and when it's done you can just copy & paste this game out of your d/l directory, and either continue downloading the rest or get rid of the torrent.

  • I think crusader was a genre in its own because it got cloned so much.

All you had to do was to kill people, solve puzzles and the best part: destroy everything you can see.

  • Diablo clone???

Crusader is an action sci-fi game with a top-down perspective.

No Regret was released at least a year or two before Diablo ever came out.

  • Well I didn't know that it came before Diablo, my bad. I guess that makes Diablo the clone.

    But then....WHO WAS PHONE!?

  • How can it be a clone when it's an entirely different game?

I'd place it in its own genre, even. It's an IPS - Isometric Perspective Shooter.

Diablo was a poor man's, high graphics, imitation of Roguelike (don't get me wrong, I loved Diablo when it first came out as much as the next guy, but as you grow and apply retro-spect...).

There never was, never will be, a game as Crusader.

  • I still have yet to download the game too, thanks for reminding me though.

  • With Home of the Underdogs shutdown, you'll have a harder time to get it, now.

  • I've actually had a torrent on my desktop waiting to be downloaded for a few months with that in it, and it's got a couple fifty seeders.

  • Home of the Underdogs is gone? Too bad i used that site alot, maybe they ran out of money.

  • Money, as well as the girl who maintained it all those years decided to take off.

They've tried to reopen it, but much of the database of games is gone.

  • wtf don't be talkin' no shit about diablo nugga

  • Grow up, son, and actually learn something about games and their history.

  • You are a moron on a royalty scale, boy.

But It is expected. This is what we get nowadays with the console/Halo crowd. It is our own making. Our own fault.

  • "better" is too general a word to use. the fact is diablo is more accessible. Its easier to control, has no real puzzles to solve, and is definitely less difficult to complete, and yes replayability is a big factor.

but this game was excellent, it just wasnt mainstream enough to get the sales thae diablo did. and the only reason No Regret sold poorly is because the publishers were dumb enough to only release it for dos whereas remorse was for 95 as well

  • @Foxstab Except for Project Overkill. Similar in play style and is roughly as old as No Remorse

  • @Panzermanathod Don't believe I've heard of. Could you please link to some reference material?

  • @Foxstab Reference material? I mean no disrspect but you could just look up the game here. If wiki is to be trusted then Project Overkill came out a year after Crusader: No Remorse.

As an aside, ever play the PSX version of No Remorse? I had saw it at a used game store months ago and got it. It was a bit later that I found out that it was a port of a PC game.

  • @Panzermanathod Okay, I looked it up. Looks fun. It's hardly the same game. It's more akin to Take No Prisoners or a brawler with a gun or a Wolfstein 3D turned onto an isometric third person shooter (Wolf in itself is a 3D interpretation of Into The Eagle's Nest). Crusader placed more emphasis on dodging (a ballpark in other Konami titles such as Contra which lacked in this title) and tactical engagement rather than brute forcing your way through enemies. And of course a detailed story line.

  • @Foxstab Don't get me wrong, I just said similar in play style. Considering they're two different games by two different companies differences will occur. Kinda like comparing Street Fighter to Mortal Kombat.

  • @Panzermanathod I beg to differ regarding the playstyle and I'd be somewhat hesitant to place them under same genre.

Project Overkill is far more akin to Team 17's Alien Breed: Tower Assault, if anything. Which is to say an action shooter, probably.

To classify Crusader onto that narrow slot would be akin to classifying System Shock onto the narrow slot of a "FPS".

  • @Foxstab An an aside, I do enjoy this discussion. It's nice to have a difference in opinion not met with insults.

I am a bit broader with how I set up genres, which is most likely the source of our debate.

  • @TonboXChocho

I guess the genre could be best described as a choreographic shooter. Levels have different approaches to guarded places, and when an alert sounds, soldiers and guards will be rushing from different directions. Even most desperate situations can be handled with correct timing of moving and firing - the player's character can do a few acrobatic moves such as rolling, and choosing the right gun for the situation is important.

  • @TonboXChocho Its based on the Diablo engine which is based on the Ultima engine.

  • I have this song (: it sounds really good with windows media player SRS WOW effects

  • hellz yeah this is the best song, i remember playing this like eight years and rocking to this song. i tried doing it on the guitar but im too useless. cheers for posting this
