What I like about the Barenaked Ladies is that you can tell they are very down to earth and just ordinary people just by listening to their music and by seeing them upload videos like this. They're not putting on an act or trying to follow trends and styles. They just go out there and be themselves! Great band!
Actually, I think a lot is lost on this version. The bass really makes this song, as does the a cappella style. I'm not saying it's bad: It's very good. But it's lacking a lot.

I love this raw style of recording, its awesome, its like a private show, but anyway, I think that he should play an acoustic electric, and sing into a microphone, that would just make it that much better. Maybe a few filters, or effects, on voice or guitar.
I would love to own a Taylor, only problem is the price tag, ha! I am glad that you knew what kind he uses. I couldn't figure it out, but I knew more than likely it was a higher end guitar.
One of my fav BNL songs, and I have many, but the guitar on this is the bomb. I love Ed'd voice acoustic. Holy Cow! I am such the BNL geek, even without Steve in the band anymore!
Very famous is probably an exaggeration. What have i done? I've managed not to make fuck awful music that is enjoyed by mentally retarded Canadians with ridiculous beards. Quite an achievement. As i said earlier, and i stand by my statement ' cunt '
@carledge29 Saying that you've managed to "not make fuck awful music" is really saying that you've managed to "do nothing." That's like saying your achievement is "not causing the holocaust" or "not killing that dude." This guy makes music that people enjoy. What have you accomplished?
lol well said stfcgrayjay, what i don't understand though is why people watch videos on youtube only to put them down and make fun of them pretty douchebaggy there carledge
Awesome..is there a version of "blame it on me" from the gordon album? lookin for the speakers corner vid u guys did way back when. how many ladies ball caps i had..i have no idea..but i credit u guys with bein the 1st to stictch on the back or the cap..man u guys make me proud to be Canadian..
Now, with this version of the song I like to play "Sing the harmony". It's pretty hard, but really fun, especially if no-one else is around to hear you caterwauling. :XD
What's also great about them is that they have actual talent. In these videos they sound exactly like they do on albums. Amazing...a band that doesn't need to cover its singing up using computers.
Rush doesn't need to, or Weird Al, or REM, etc. You are right, it's awesome that there are bands that don't need to enhance their voices with technology, and BNL is one of them, but they aren't unique, which is good, I guess. No point in having a million "stars" who can't sing for real, so it's great having real bands.

I wish other bands had members who were cool enough to do this sort of thing for its fan base and other aspiring musicians/hobbyists, but I guess that's why BNL is just that much more badass than those others.
P.S. if I could ever learn to play as well as Ed, I would die a happy man.
Actually, I like this a lot better. I think the single voice with the notes really coming through is better than it being covered up. I'm not saying the original track is bad, just not as good as this.
you dont sound anything LIKE the Bare Naked Ladies....i know the bare naked ladies my friend...and you are NO bare naked ladies...psssh...nice try...MAN
i hope your joking and ur not that stupid that you would tell one of the lead singers of a band that he doesent sound like himself and that u know them
hahaha guys it was a joke! I now realize that sarcasm does now come out through conventional typing. Perhaps one day someone can design a "smiley face" type apparatus that will more effectively communicate my intentions. Have a nice day everyone!
Thank you so much for this. It's really fun to sing along with these songs and Gordon is my favorite! Can't wait to see you guys in Cleveland this summer!

I'm not completely sure, but I think its a Taylor 810e. Typically, those have cutaways and no tobacco finish though. It's definitely a beauty though.

Only if you consider selling over 4 million copies of their album Stunt by the end of it's chart run an exaggeration of being very famous. I don't.
