I heard this on the K-Love website a few days ago... and I immediately fell in love with it. <3 :) this song is SOOOO AMAZING!! This is a really sad song, but it really opens up people's eyes and puts people in the little kids' shoes, and they get a taste of what it would be like to be without a family. <3 GOD HAS BLESSED ME WITH AN AMAZING LIFE! :)
the first time that I heard this song! I cried and I love it every time I hear it ... I have always wanted to adopt but I have never found anyone that I wanted to adopt with to be with a family for me.
maybe in my next life I will god bless steven curtis and marybeth we will remember maria in our prayers !~!!
This song is so touching. I feel blessed to have a very good family. We take so many things for granted, especially in this season that is often very commercial. It's nice to look at things from a different perspective
having emotionally absent yet still very judgmental parents makes me feel like the orphan in this song yearning for a verbal assurance of the unconditional love from a true family.
As clj14 says, God is there regardless of whether or not our parents are.
A man I am blessed to know said that his daughter has two fathers; one who's not perfect, and One who is perfect. God is your Father, and we are your brothers and sisters, shatteredklay. We are your family.
this song touches me to the core.. having an emotionally absent yet very judgmental parents makes me feel like an orphan yearning for an assurance of love.
YOUR ASSURANCE OF LOVE COMES FROM JESUS! GOD LOVES YOU NO MATTER WHAT! YOU CAN'T MAKE HIM NOT LOVE YOU. He will NEVER be EMOTIONALLY ABSENT OR VERY JUDGMENT. GOD LOEVES YOU ALWAYS!!!!!!!
Although I agree God always loves us, it's dangerous to fall into the trap of thinking he's a giant fluffy teddy bear. God will judge us, remember? But yes, God does love us, and he will always be there for us, and he won't stop loving us.
This guys can write a tear-jerker or two. If you like this song check out "When Love Takes You In" as well. I know from first hand experience that when you step in to an orphanage only part of you leaves. A big part of my heart is still in Moscow Russia. If you can consider adoption please do it. There are 50 million more orphans waiting.
I really like the song "Cinderella"... it's about a father/daughter dance; something I never had because my father doesn't care enough to talk to me anymore. It's a beautiful song that really means alot to me.
this song is soo uplifting! and shows me how grateful i am to have a reallly good family that loves me and i hope that other kids a wonderful family too!
love this song, and I bought the sheet music, but it's not Stevens version.....does anyone know where I can get the guitar tab for this beautiful song????????
awesome song, written from a beautiful heart of a Godly man. what a faithful family, and a courageous leap they took. just think of all the blessings they could have missed, and we the audience might have never experienced with the chapman family. wow.
I pray that someday you'll know this same joy of adopting a precious life, and that you'll know the even greater joy of being adopted by our Heavenly Father as well. :)
I heard Steven Curtis Chapman once joke in concert that he had three kids -- Eenie, Meenie, and Miney . . . and there ain't gonna be no Mo! But thank God that he and his wife saw what a miraculous blessing that it would be to adopt a beautiful little girl (or two or three) from China! I know because I've adopted a beautiful little girl from China too. She's been such a rich blessing to me every day that I've been privileged to be her daddy!
Well, congratulations! I'm proud that you feel that way! I'm planning on doing that when I can - however I have two years of high school left. But after I get married I will :)
When you think of all of the things you wrote down on your Christmas lists through the years, nothing compares to what you really need -- a loving family!
This song always as me in tearS. This is the most real thing, I was one of these kids, but My brother and I were SOMEBODYS Christmas presents 31 years ago. Dreams do come true. Michael McNamara Columbus Ohio

Maybe you should check out SCC's song "When Love Takes You In"
When our parents fail (and even the good ones can mess up too), his song reminds us that God still wants to adopt us into His "forever" family.
