Comparing Zakk and Dave is like comparing Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhodes. If you like the guy or the music better, you'll most likely like his guitar playing better. I'm an Eddie Van Halen fan. You won't convince me that Randy Rhodes is better than Eddie, even though I love and respect Randy's work. It's all in the eye (or ear) of the beholder.

They're both utterly incredible. You can't call a winner on this stuff. I think Zakk is smoother and can milk things a little more, but Dave is rough- not in a non-technical way, but in the same blunt and explosive brash way that he is in real life, there's more edge. They both put the most they can of themselves into their music and their skill is the least of their barriers, so I'm not one to judge. I'm thankful for both.

Funny, compairing the main lead player, Wylde, and the #2 guitar player in Megadeth. I guess that should say something about Mustaine. I love 'em both, completely different players. Clearly Zakk is Blues based where Mustaine is influenced (his words) more by the British metal guitarists.

Fair enough they were mostly, at some point, blues based.

i love both of them. but i gotta say when it comes to guitar zakk just totally annihilates dave at everything. zakk's confidence, charisma and stage presence is out of this world. when dave, however, plays he's so still and so stiff. zakk has his own unqiue style of playing, you can tell his solo from a mile away whereas with dave it's like just another metal solo. if you were going to compare anyone with zakk with someone it should've marty friedman or chris broderick.

Something about Mustaine's picking and fretting style just looks strange and awkward to me. And Zakk's stage presence is so much more powerful in my opinion. I guess I'm more of a Rock/Hard rock guy than straight up Metal so I'm probably more biased towards Zakk anyways.
