Someone probably already said it, but the reason Ike says Great Aether instead of just Aether is due to translation - in Japanese, the move's name has two syllables instead of one.

What chugga is saying at 16:48 is untrue. The portraits are pink and blue based on who is playing as what character. I know this because later on they are playing as link and yoshi. Both of these characters are starters but one has a pink background and one has a blue background. Player one has a pink background and player two has a blue background.
