All of the original final fantasy games are a part of the "other" life I grew up with. The gamer side of my life. FF7 set the bar for everything. A simpler time then. No bills, responsibilities, or problems, I was in seventh grade and life was easy. I think that's what I also fell in love with in this game, recollection of an easier time. The Best RPG EVER MADE! I wouldn't mind a remake with all the HD tech out nowadays changing nothing on the game, just amazing graphics!

Remake...be prepared to wait for a loopoong time. FF7 was a very nonlinear game with a bunch of mini games and ect. Having all that rendered in High quality using the FF13 engine is too much work and time
When this game came out there was no YouTube. The internet was up. There were a lot of chat rooms & message boards & everyone saying, "Omggggggg" about FF7. So many ppl LOVED Sephiroth & felt he should've been the hero of ff7. Bunch of sucky fansites on geocities & angelfire, fanfic sites, but man - this game. Hard to think something so crazy could happen as to grow up with a GAME, but a lot of us did, and with FF8, too ... memories! :)
It sux that the original team can't do a remake for ff7, the only hope I think of doing a good remake is to have the same ppl that did crisis core remake ff7, but then ag it could turn out to be a flop. This might be the reason why no one is remaking ff7 cause they're afraid of fcking it up and they should. Still tho I'd like to see an awesome remake.
I do man. I think not only should the remake just be a remake, but it should expand on crisis core. Afterall Crisis Core was a very good prequel and it was the only video game that succeeded in making me cry. I'm really hoping they don't fck it up tho, and use the same formulas that worked with the original FF7 being so epic.

@MegaRajang They MIGHT? They've made at least 30 remakes and the only one that WASN'T a disaster and an insult to the source was FF4DS. Every other remake they've ever made was garbage. The only thing Square needs to do is stop fluffing the otakus and let their games be localized again. This game started what ruined Square: their fall from epic adventure story writers to shameless weeaboos. They make 12, the first FF with decent characters since 6, on a fluke and look how people react!
@captivesparrow yea ur absolutely right, besides ff3 8 and 9 were the worst games I just never got emotionally involved or really cared for any of the characters in 8 and 9, 7 definitely gets u emotionally involved to where u get sad when Aeris dies, and cry when Zack dies (in crisis core). An u share Clouds hatred with Sephiroth and Barrets hatred with shinra, no other game does that. I liked 10 but it's not nearly as good as 7.
@shschesschamp Exactly. I hated all of them. A roleplaying game is about story which all of those failed besides 10. 10 was good but not FF7. I mean I was one who felt compassion for Sephiroth after witnessing Shinra had done. I was more against them.
I'm embarrassed to say that I've been playing FF7 since it came out, and probably got to the final battle 20 times......... but never actually beat the game. This is the first time I ever saw the actual ending.

I'm 28 now. I received psx as a christmas gift when I was 13. It's been 15 years as a gamer. I have played a lot of games of every type. But never EVER have played anything better then FFVII. It's spectacular, thrilling, unforgettable experience. It is sad that nowadays "games" cannot reach the level as they were before. FFVII was made with passion for the gamers with passion. @drelak1 I'm 24, shame you didn't get an SNES a few years earlier. 7 was great, but looking back now it was the first game to come after Square's peak. I would say try 6 and Chrono Trigger, but not if you're going to compare it to childhood memories. I started gaming with the NES. First RPG was FF4 before 6 or CT and hated it. Played FF5 long after 7, 8, and 9 and would rate it above them. The end of the 2D era was also the peak of the jRPG. Play 7 again and see if your nostalgia holds up.
@TheBaron87YT i played both b4 FF7 and had no effects as they did on you, still i love them, but cant beat FF7 as a game, maibe if you make FF7 and FF6 as a book, i rather will read FF6, which is different than playing a game. The story is a great part of the game, but wont be the whole, If its for story, FF series has nothing to do against LOD, but sadly LOD has the worst gameplay of all the rpg games i ever played

@IIPoiiSoNII They're not. Obviously, everyone is dead by that time. It was already stated in the game by Bugenhagen that Red XIII's species' lifespan far outlives that of humans. He said that Red XIII was close to 50 years old in the game, but he's comparable to that of a 16 year old human. So, at 550 years old, RED XII is probably in the range of 50-60 human years old.
@IIPoiiSoNII I honestly doubt that they expected to be making so many sequels to FF7. Don't forget that for the past 6 games there were no sequels. They were all stand-alone games. Then they realized that this game was such a tremendous hit compared to the other ones, and since the ending of the game allowed for expansion, they decided to expand this universe, so they added that same scene in the movie, then put down "498 years earlier".
@funtobefunny09 At the beginning of AC, after they show the same scene in epic HD, there's text shown in the middle of the screen saying: 498 years earlier. Then, we get the scene of the Turks in the North Crater. In other words, AC takes place 2 years after the game.

After this scene it just shows space, or whatever, like ur flying past the stars. its pretty cool, but I'm just wonderng is there anything after that? i was waiting for a while and nothing lol i heard that there was a scene with Yuffie and Vincent riding on a hover bike or something but I didnt see it...
@valypaly3 I wish, there's nothing, I left it play overnight once just to see and it was still playing the stars. The end to Final Fantasy VII wasn't finished, it would be safe to assume the stars are to show that the story is incomplete. Whether or not such is true is entirely by call of Square-ENIX, as the movie came out and ended the game properly(just a thought).
Interesting note: Final Fantasy VII is the first and only Final Fantasy(not including XI or XIV) with no "The End" screen shown.
@angelixsaint oh ok, thanks so much. Yeah it was an intresting way to end it, I'm just really glad they made the movie. Besides the fact that its now one of my favorite movies and I loved it, it cleared up some things for me and I felt satisified much more with the ending. @evanb70 on final fantasy 7? no, sadly there is no new game+, I'm assuming because the story hadn't actually ended. If you want a new game plus for a final fantasy 7 based game, try Crisis Core for PlayStation Portable.
So...do you think Aeris/Aerith saw it all happen before it even did happen? Because the scene with her was exactly the same when she was looking at that mako thing at the very start if the game.
@rissole25 No, if you notice the animation is different. We start off the game with her looking at us, and at the end she opens her eyes and raises her head. As well, the life stream pieces are more prominent at the end. It's to show her in the life stream and how she played an integral part in saving the planet.
Perfect ending. Really REALLY beautiful. In the end the planet was all one, even the Shinra and Avalanche enemies who died joined the Lifestream and so they *all* helped to save the Planet...
They should have let it end here. Absolutely nothing can top this.

Bought this game when i was 7, couldn't beat it back then because my third disc broke right before Sephiroth, now, ten years later, i just beat it and wow, i finally beat it. Feels good man.
...Im giving this ending 9.9/10 BECAUSE I HATE IT When a game leaves something like 500 years a fucking mystery...Really square kinda dickish? Other then that, game was fucking flawless...
@emiko21 Maybe they could make a surprising sequel that takes place 500 years later (Like the scene at the end of the game!), with some amazing features, featuring some debuting Summons, Holy as a usable Magic (Unless it can already be usable.), and MORE features! Including the main character being half-human, half-lion, like Lolo, but the char. is a male! ;)

P.S. Was the reason why Lifestream worked due to the fact that Aeris had died and finally became a part of the planet? I've always had my doubts about that. Also, why did Holy take the opposite affect to Meteor? I need an extreme FF Nerd for this one! Thanks! =)
@Sunriel By the time Holy was released, Meteor had already entered the Planet's atmosphere, Holy had too little room to take effect, with the gravity of both Meteor and the Planet pulling it in opposite directions. Aeris used her status as both an Ancient and a part of the Lifestream to enable Holy to batter Meteor back so that the spell could do its job. Understand?
i doubt she became part of the planet , I mean it looks as if she is awakening and bungenhagen said there were exceptions to becoming one with the planet, or maybe she's waiting for cloud
Never really understood the Lion King ending to this game. I mean, yeah.. in 500 years, a lot of cities might be in ruins. So it left the game with such a vague ending. However, I guess in Advent Children, we now know that Midgar wasn't completely annihilated.
@Claerith The Lion King ending is telling you that Midgar wasn't destroyed by Meteor. You can see the Shinra tower and the reactors there. If Meteor would have fallen, all of the city would have been destroyed. So you can tell Meteor was destroyed by Holy.

Seriously, FFVII was perfect. The ending was perfection too, it came full circle and didn't stray too far into cheesy sentimentality like FFVIII's did (and any FF onwards). They should have left it as it was. But no, they had to carry on milking its success like a rabid fanfic writer.
For me, FFVII ended here. The other games and films are empty fan service.

that scene is 500 years after FFVII. Advent Children is 2 years after FFVII. If you paid attention at the beginning of Advent Children, it says 498 years ago (present time)

@khluvr89 actually, Nanaki, Red XIII as first named in the game, DID live 500 years. Obviously a bunch of humans wouldn't, however he did. The 500 year post FFVII was to show the massive changes made to Midgar, supposedly caused by meteor, holy, and the lifestream all colliding at once.

I LOVE Kingdom Hearts and now my new fave is Final Fantasy!!!!!!!! :)
The only thing I don't like is how the feeling of the ending keeps getting changed by the things made after FF7.
FF7: Sephy gets defeated in the Lifestream; Sephy without Jenova is weak compared to Cloud. The personal rivalry between the two is over.
After FF7: Nope, he's back.
FF7: Midgar is in ruins, heavily implying people left the city and are living peacefully with the Planet. Or they're dead. Cliffhanger ending.
After FF7: Nope, they're still living there.

Played FF5 long after 7, 8, and 9 and would rate it above them. The end of the 2D era was also the peak of the jRPG. Play 7 again and see if your nostalgia holds up.

@TheBaron87YT i played both b4 FF7 and had no effects as they did on you, still i love them, but cant beat FF7 as a game, maibe if you make FF7 and FF6 as a book, i rather will read FF6, which is different than playing a game. The story is a great part of the game, but wont be the whole, If its for story, FF series has nothing to do against LOD, but sadly LOD has the worst gameplay of all the rpg games i ever played

@IIPoiiSoNII They're not. Obviously, everyone is dead by that time. It was already stated in the game by Bugenhagen that Red XIII's species' lifespan far outlives that of humans. He said that Red XIII was close to 50 years old in the game, but he's comparable to that of a 16 year old human. So, at 550 years old, RED XII is probably in the range of 50-60 human years old.

@IIPoiiSoNII I honestly doubt that they expected to be making so many sequels to FF7. Don't forget that for the past 6 games there were no sequels. They were all stand-alone games. Then they realized that this game was such a tremendous hit compared to the other ones, and since the ending of the game allowed for expansion, they decided to expand this universe, so they added that same scene in the movie, then put down "498 years earlier".

@funtobefunny09 At the beginning of AC, after they show the same scene in epic HD, there's text shown in the middle of the screen saying: 498 years earlier. Then, we get the scene of the Turks in the North Crater. In other words, AC takes place 2 years after the game.

After this scene it just shows space, or whatever, like ur flying past the stars. its pretty cool, but I'm just wonderng is there anything after that? i was waiting for a while and nothing lol i heard that there was a scene with Yuffie and Vincent riding on a hover bike or something but I didnt see it...

@valypaly3 I wish, there's nothing, I left it play overnight once just to see and it was still playing the stars. The end to Final Fantasy VII wasn't finished, it would be safe to assume the stars are to show that the story is incomplete. Whether or not such is true is entirely by call of Square-ENIX, as the movie came out and ended the game properly(just a thought).
Interesting note: Final Fantasy VII is the first and only Final Fantasy(not including XI or XIV) with no "The End" screen shown.

@angelixsaint oh ok, thanks so much. Yeah it was an intresting way to end it, I'm just really glad they made the movie. Besides the fact that its now one of my favorite movies and I loved it, it cleared up some things for me and I felt satisified much more with the ending. Anyway, I left on the stars for an hour and nothing so I wanted to double check, but thanks, feel better knowing I didn't miss anything. @rissole25 No, if you notice the animation is different. We start off the game with her looking at us, and at the end she opens her eyes and raises her head. As well, the life stream pieces are more prominent at the end. It's to show her in the life stream and how she played an integral part in saving the planet.

Perfect ending. Really REALLY beautiful. In the end the planet was all one, even the Shinra and Avalanche enemies who died joined the Lifestream and so they *all* helped to save the Planet...
They should have let it end here. Absolutely nothing can top this.

@emiko21 Maybe they could make a surprising sequel that takes place 500 years later (Like the scene at the end of the game!), with some amazing features, featuring some debuting Summons, Holy as a usable Magic (Unless it can already be usable.), and MORE features! Including the main character being half-human, half-lion, like Lolo, but the char. is a male! ;)

P.S. Was the reason why Lifestream worked due to the fact that Aeris had died and finally became a part of the planet? I've always had my doubts about that. Also, why did Holy take the opposite affect to Meteor? I need an extreme FF Nerd for this one! Thanks! =)

@Sunriel By the time Holy was released, Meteor had already entered the Planet's atmosphere, Holy had too little room to take effect, with the gravity of both Meteor and the Planet pulling it in opposite directions. Aeris used her status as both an Ancient and a part of the Lifestream to enable Holy to batter Meteor back so that the spell could do its job. Understand?

Never really understood the Lion King ending to this game. I mean, yeah.. in 500 years, a lot of cities might be in ruins. So it left the game with such a vague ending. However, I guess in Advent Children, we now know that Midgar wasn't completely annihilated.

@Claerith The Lion King ending is telling you that Midgar wasn't destroyed by Meteor. You can see the Shinra tower and the reactors there. If Meteor would have fallen, all of the city would have been destroyed. So you can tell Meteor was destroyed by Holy.

Seriously, FFVII was perfect. The ending was perfection too, it came full circle and didn't stray too far into cheesy sentimentality like FFVIII's did (and any FF onwards). They should have left it as it was. But no, they had to carry on milking its success like a rabid fanfic writer.
For me, FFVII ended here. The other games and films are empty fan service.

The sad thing is that probabbly it will never be made a game like FF 7 with a brilliant story line and an awesome technical content.
I played this video game when I was nine years old, now I'm twenty and I still havent found any game comparable to this one.
I really would like to pass this one to my son if I ever have one.

that scene is 500 years after FFVII. Advent Children is 2 years after FFVII. If you paid attention at the beginning of Advent Children, it says 498 years ago (present time)

@khluvr89 actually, Nanaki, Red XIII as first named in the game, DID live 500 years. Obviously a bunch of humans wouldn't, however he did. The 500 year post FFVII was to show the massive changes made to Midgar, supposedly caused by meteor, holy, and the lifestream all colliding at once.

Ive played FFVII Crisis Core thats a RLLY GREAT GAME!!! im 17 and only taken interest in the FF game series just recently a few months ago.... but yea.... I LOVE Kingdom Hearts and now my new fave is Final Fantasy!!!!!!!! :)
