A friend of mine has recently been working with some young Republican staffers in Washington on a big ‘tax freedom’ project.
The idea is that all those earning over $250k should be able to pay some or all of their tax liabilities to a charitable organisation of their choice, rather than the government. This is all about real economic freedom & will really help to get big govt. off our backs for good!
Hopefully it will be included on the Palin ticket in a couple of years!

@GodsReligionChannel Well, there's lots of ways to avoid paying taxes on things that acquire wealth. Another good way is tax deffered IRA's and 401k's (not ROTH). You're not taxed on them until you actually draw them out and their not included as income when you file your taxes. Many ppl get them, cuz it lowers their adjusted gross. But look out when you try to draw on them early...then the gvt really GETS YOU...they double down on the taxes and penalties. But it's still considered wealth.

I don't mind keeping the tax rate (between fed, state, social security, and everything else, it's about a 1/3 of my income), but can Congress please get specific on where all these spending cuts are going to come from? How about Congress taking the lead by example and taking a 10% across the board cut? How about making all their perks count as taxable income? How about no salary at all until they can balance the dam budget like so many states have to do?

@jetbtkng I agree that ppl should pay their fair share. But what is fair? Right now the rich pay around 36% of their adjusted gross (I say AG cause that's what the gvt taxes on). And most of the investments that the "rich" make, the gvt eventually catches up with them...even Ira's have age limits to how long ppl can deffer their taxes. However, I think it's so ironic when ppl like Soros say to tax him more, while the whole time he has found many loop holes between his gross and AG.

But it is legal for them to deffer some taxes...but really they just "kick the can down the road," cuz the gvt eventually catches up with them...if they are finding loop holes legally. However, they could probably deffer certain assets until they die. Then, who the hell cares what happens, right? But when you think about it, approximately 50% of the country don't pay taxes at all...and that's without loopholes. So I'd say things even out.

A friend of mine has recently been working with some young Republican staffers in Washington on a big ‘tax freedom’ project.
The idea is that all those earning over $250k should be able to pay some or all of their tax liabilities to a charitable organisation of their choice, rather than the government. This is all about real economic freedom & will really help to get big govt. off our backs for good!
Hopefully it will be included on the Palin ticket in a couple of years!

@GodsReligionChannel Well, there's lots of ways to avoid paying taxes on things that acquire wealth. Another good way is tax deffered IRA's and 401k's (not ROTH). You're not taxed on them until you actually draw them out and their not included as income when you file your taxes. Many ppl get them, cuz it lowers their adjusted gross. But look out when you try to draw on them early...then the gvt really GETS YOU...they double down on the taxes and penalties. But it's still considered wealth.

How about Congress taking the lead by example and taking a 10% across the board cut? How about making all their perks count as taxable income? And most of the investments that the "rich" make, the gvt eventually catches up with them...even Ira's have age limits to how long ppl can deffer their taxes. However, I think it's so ironic when ppl like Soros say to tax him more, while the whole time he has found many loop holes between his gross and AG.

But it is legal for them to deffer some taxes...but really they just "kick the can down the road," cuz the gvt eventually catches up with them...if they are finding loop holes legally. However, they could probably deffer certain assets until they die. Then, who the hell cares what happens, right? But when you think about it, approximately 50% of the country don't pay taxes at all...and that's without loopholes. So I'd say things even out.

@GodsReligionChannel The IRS tax code is about a foot thick. Those with the means to do so, "the very rich in America", can use that code to skirt the system. Usually offshore shelters out of Uncle Sam's reach. Leave the tax rates alone, stabilize the economic environment and maybe they might just invest that money in order to make more money for themselves, while at the same time inadvertently creating jobs. That's how it worked in the late 80's to mid 90s.

They should have drafted a continuing resolution in the Senate to continue the current tax structure for 6 weeks, then let this be the 112th congress' first order of business. A 2 year extention just prolongs the uncertainty and at the cost of another trillion dollars in spending, including 200 Billion that would be added to the deficit immediately. Sen Jim DeMint was right to vote against the Bill.
