The Japanese have plenty of problems. Did you guys know that Nissan has a worse reliability record than Chyrsler now? I like the way german cars look, but VW has even worse quality and dependability than Nissan. Just check the JD Power Dependability survey? Its Korean time now. if you want a European Car with an Asian flair and quality get the Hyundai. Then it will be Chinese and Indian Time, Vietnamese, Taiwanese, then Iranians, Eithopians, Nigerans, and South Africans.

Any american ford or chevy will put more mileage than any import, you have to take your Jap shit to the dealer every 60 000 miles to change that stupid timing belt or it will quit on you, americans engines with timing Chain can run 5 times longer than those ruber belts on Jap motors. Virtually no chinese content in the Lexus/Toyota product line. The Japanese (toyota) Keiritsu holds a tight reign on where parts are sourced. Yes China supplies some plastic and trim bits to lower end toyotas.  As for driving a Chery, sorry I'll pass I've seen their horrific crash results. And with the price of various cars like the Brillance BS6 they are not cost competitive either, the Bs6 costs more than a Camry! Sorry I'll stick to the established brands.

A) Poorly made

B) Fuel inefficient

C) Only good for driving in straight lines.

European cars on the other hand are fantastic, even the Fords and Vauxhalls are good (Both US companies)

So ask yourself, why do we in Europe get better cars than you, even from American makers? The answer is simple, just like you.

Wow what a Moron. The Corvette does not have a live rear axle. Good Grief! If they were so poorly made why are there thousands of older American cars still on the road. I drive a 91 Buick regal with 180k miles.

How are they fuel inefficient? How are they only good for driving in straight lines? Do you get all your information about American cars from Top Gear? European cars are not as reliable as American or Japanese cars. Their parts are overpriced and they break down more often.

If you want to talk about a car as whole, I replaced 2 Honda radiators recently, both of them leaked before hitting 10 years mark. I've seen 20k focus with broken clutch diaphragm springs, and many of them with worn CV joints or worn diff bearings.

let's face it, it's not about the quality or safety, it's just people are in fear of what they don't know or understand. Technology nowadays carry price tags, unlike the time when the Japaneses was trying to sell cars here. How these Chinese cars perform is entirely unpredictable.

Civic was done with old fashion solid wall impact.Hondas have always been cheap on their construction, no surprise there.

Unless a crash test is conducted by unbiased organizations, it's not fair to say whether a car is properly engineered. Not to mention, there is no long term data regarding the mechanical reliability of these Chinese vehicles. Chery taxis engines usually do 300k miles before it needs a rebuild.

Early Japanese and Korean cars were also regarded as unsafe. Only time will tell.

you should check out the crash test of 94 model civic that sold millions (search civic crash, it's in the "old car vs new car" video), and still running around in packs on the street of North America. Quite many people still think it's a good car... don't know why.
