Hip hop has always been the red headed child of the industry, this is true. The problem is that when a jazz musician or a classical is being lazy, no-one likes to admit it.

If hip hop was really that easy compared to those genres why doesn't someone just drop an LP as good as Illmatic?

No. Jazz is formulaic and often generic (with the exception of legends like Miles Davis, John Coltrane ect.) And when you stray from this you get bullshit like free jazz.

Not all instruments are computer generated in hip hop either. Black on Both Sides features a lot of live instrumentation and composition, and every album by The Roots is the same.

Making an mpc sound like a live jazz band (like Pete Rock) is the hardest things to do (hence, that is why Pete Rock is a fucking god).
