Slavery was rife around most of the world and it didn't just consist of blacks. There were white, persian, arab, basically if you were in the wrong place- you would get captured and made a slave. Dear Heather, you are correct, you do not get to heaven by good deeds. As Jesus pointed out in the New Testament, you must follow him, his teachings. I was a knowledgeable Christian myself and I referred to the BIBLE when I was one so I respectfully reserve the RIGHT to refer to the BIBLE now. NOWHERE in the BIBLE does Jesus say he is GOD. The BIBLE refers to ADAM as SON OF GOD as well. JESUS says he is less than GOD in the BIBLE and He does nothing of his own AUTHORITY! We will all rise from the dead from God's authority, does this make US devine? I love JESUS, his teachings!

hey i cant go back and forth. i know muslims are taught that paul created Jesus as God but that is ridiculous. the whole old testament shadows his coming. it was foretold in all the old testament the lord was coming. Jesus died for claiming to be equal with God and was seen after death. one book written 600 yrs later can not disprove a death and resurrection. the  bible uses eyewitness and trust me i can give you numerous scriptures to declare Jesus had a human and God nature about him.God bless

My conclusion through studying my bible at home (I was a Christian). You are wrong saying Jesus claimed he was equal to God!He claimed the opposite of what you say. He taught us that God is "far Greater than I". He also prayed in the garden to God to remove the Cup of suffering from him. What kind of God requires TORTURE and KILLING in order for us to be saved when HE showed us that ADAM was not saved in this manner. GOD is MERCIFUL and JUST and does not encourage EVIL acts! THOU SHALT NOT KILL.

There were over 50 gospels written and they were all destroyed and rewritten in greek. Only 4 were included in the Bible when it was compiled. Can you really use that as a reference?
