  • Thanks for sharing the video. Looks like a great dog.

  • I HAVE A ROSCOE BASSET HOUND DOG TOO! EXELENT DOGS!

loving dogs and sorry 4 you'r loss :(

  • Hmmm...tried to send you a 'video response' plus a note. Guess you can't do both at the same time. Anyway, just wanted to say that was a nice tribute you did for Roscoe. We've enjoyed three Bassets in our lives. They do leave an awfully big, Basset-shaped hole in your life when they pass. Hope in time you'll feel ready to share your lives with another one.

  • I'm crying. This is so sad. I just lost a Basset hound, Daisy. I knew I loved that dog but when she passed, I cried so much I was physically sick. I just couldn't get over her. I rescued another dog and she has been a Godsend. She is five but she is the funniest dog I've ever seen. She's also a Basset. Your Roscoe was adorable. I think Bassets are the best dogs in the world. They are beautiful, smart, funny...I love them.

  • I had a basset hound named Roscoe as well!!!:/ he was put down on June, 15, 2011.

Just days after 8th Grade Graduation, he began walking strangely. We thought he had a sprained ankle or something, but the vet said he was okay... I didn't believe her.

As days went by, he began to loose all of his physical mobility in his rear legs. He couldn't move around on his own at all. every 3 hours my parents would come home from work to put him in his crate and carry him outside to do his buisness.

  • @Granhead2 Continuation:

Doing that day-in and day-out put alot of stress on us as well as Roscoe.

After a week of stress and back-breaking work, we, and Roscoe (we feel), decided that putting him to sleep was the only option.

Right before he was drugged to be relaxed, he gave each of us a lick on the face and put his paw over our hearts<3333:'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

    "Roscoe" _/_/1999 - 6/15/2011

    R.I.P.

  • I know how you feel because I lost both of my precious babies too. I know you loved him so much and I know he loved you too.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. I had a basset hound named Fred, he passed away of lymphoma. We now have a white basset named Lucy :-).

  • I'm soooo crying ! I have a basset too ...

  • This is so beautiful! I have a basset hound I couldnt imagine life with out him! this brought tears to my eyes!

  • I am terribly sorry for your loss. Your video made me cry; it is such a wonderful way to celebrate the life Roscoe had and to share some of your wonderful memories of him with all of us. My dog (an IG) is also a son to me and I can't even begin to imagine your pain at losing Roscoe.

  • I am so sorry... I know exatcly how you feel... I lost my beloved boy last sunday morning, he had a spleen tumor which spread onto his liver. He was feeling ok after the surgery but when I brought him home, he suffered greatly. It wa breaking my heart listening to him crying. Even double dose of painkillers wouldn't help.... I had to make the hardest decision ever. He passed away in my arms given compassionate euthanasia... I am devastated and can't find any comfort. I miss him so much...

  • I had a basset named Rosco, same color as Roscoe in this video. He was my constant companion for 8 years. Not a day goes by that I don't miss him. Thanks for this video-seems like I just couldn't know how much those years would mean to me until he was gone.

  • It's so strange I also had a basset hound names Roscoe he died when he was a baby never got to grow up he suffered from seizures I am 13 now 5 years ago I was in pre k I remember him sitting in my parents room on a pillow I was crying and crying I lost my best friend

So young I loved him my head laid on his belly gently I was crying and crying his last bark sounded like I love you savannah my eyes are in tears as I am writing this I only have one picture of

Him left I display it proudly in my l

  • I woke 4 wks ago to find my 12 yo basset couldn't use her back legs. Didn't stop her from dragging herself down the hallway to be where i was. She didn't complain but I could tell she was in pain. The animal hospital thought it was spine related and offered surgery. It was time to honour the promise I'd made to myself and her that when the time came and she was in pain and had exceeded her life span to not subject her to surgery or crate rest.Later learnt it was prolapsed disc.Miss you Sophie GG

  • Wow - that is an incredibly touching memorial which truly captures the love between you and your beloved son Roscoe. I lost my basset hound last week-end and watching this has been therapeutic in helping me to work through my grief. Thank you so much for sharing those beautiful memories

  • This is so beautiful...I lost my own Basset Roscoe last June at the age of 11. Your Roscoe's tumor sounds very similar to the cancer our boy had. I haven't been able to finish his memorial movie...it tears me up inside to work on it. As sad as this makes me to watch, it also fills my heart with love to know that there were other Roscoes who are as loved as ours was. We are all so lucky.

  • What a beautiful, loving tribute! As the 'dad slave' of a beautiful basset boy, I understand the love you shared and the sorrow you must feel. Please remember-- love never dies. {{{hug}}}

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. He's a beautiful dog and looks a lot like mine.

  • man this brought me to tears for real i have four bassets 3 of them are 2 years old and one is 11 months and we love them so very much

  • I am truly sorry for the loss of your family's beautiful Basset.... it brings tears to my eyes and reminds me of Bassets we have loved and lost over the years.

Bassets are the BESTEST ever dogs in the world and I've had them for many years!!! They are just a unique breed!!!

  • Really beautiful tribute, I lost a 13 yr old Beagle earlier this year and I understand. I have an 11 yr old Basset as well, along with his 10 month old Beagle brother since, helped with the healing. They can never be replaced, but we can provide loving homes for others in the meantime. I have a Basset girl puppy coming at the end of this month, so everything has a season. Again, awesome tribute!

  • This was so beautiful I cried. My fiance' and I just bought a baby basset girl who will be our first. Her name is Luma, and after watching this I know I am in for a great ride with her. Thank you for making this video and I am sorry for your loss

  • I've been priveledged to live with bassets since 1994. Roscoe seemed like a great guy! He sure was loved!

  • I am sorry for everyone's losses. This is a beautiful tribute. I lost my basset, Buster, last month. They leave us too soon! I saw another vid about a basset yesterday where the basset lived to be 16 years old. At first, I thought the owner was so lucky to have had the dog that long, but that is more heartache, the longer they are with you. My Buster died the day before his tenth birthday.

  • We just lost our Bassett Daisy the Wonder dog. I've never hurt so much. Knowing that one day we will meet again keeps me going. I'm sure my little girl will run into yours. May they play and run and sniff till we are joined again.

  • I first saw your beautiful tribute to Roscoe before Over The Rainbow was replaced by this song. I was so heartbroken for you because I couldn't imagine losing my basset hound. Unfortunately, I now share your pain. I lost my Micky not quite 2 weeks ago rather suddenly. Our house is not a home without him. He was my best friend.

I just wanted to thank you for inspiring me to make a tribute to him. I am unable to post the link here, but it is on Youtube if you are interested.

    I'm so sorry.

  • i have had two bassets, Quincy and murphy. We lost quincy 3 yrs ago to bone cancer...it still hurts everday with out him. now i am losing my other basset to a divorce

  • I had a basset named Roscoe, too. He's been gone almost a year and it still hurts every day. This was a really nice tribute for your Roscoe.

  • Thank You so much for this. It's been 15 years today I lost my Dudley. They removed a five pound tumor from his spleen. He made it through well but about a month later he passed. I still haven't been able to bring myself to get another. The day he died I was walking him on a leash, got a whiff of a rabbit and began to follow. He collapsed on his side and proceeded to drag himself after the scent. Dumb a** didn't know he was supposed to be dying. Love you Doufer. R.I.P.

  • My basset passed away in 2007 & I was just watching the memorial I made for him when I came across yours for Roscoe. Wonderful tribute! Bassets are such characters, so unique.

  • What a beautiful video. It brough tears to my eyes.

  • It was hard to watch this video. My basset Hound Earnest passed on several years ago but this really pulled at my heart strings. What amazing dogs these are.

  • I LOVE THIS VID! *TEAR* my basste hound named roscoe ran away and some low life took him...I miss him more than anything! I wish i knew what happend to him..if he's dead id rather know than not know...<3 *I LOVE YOU MY BABY ROSCOE! ILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU!* <3

  • i am sorry bout ur loss. he is a beutiful dog. i got a basset last month he is very cute and loving.

  • My bassethound died from old age at 15 in Jan. 2008

  • I lost my beloved Basset, Balfour to cancer, 18 months ago, it was heartbreaking.

  • This made me cry :o(( I lost my gorgeous Basset last April and know how you feel as they're the best dogs in the world! I now have two sweet Basset sister pups and love them to bits!

  • I couldnt agree more, but the owners of the Rainbow song cited copyright violation on my video. eventhough I gave credit and I put it up from my own CD?? I had to pick one pre-approved of by the new YouTube 'Google' and this was the best one.

  • I am so sorry about what happend, these things happen though, unfortunatly. Im sure that Roscoe is still deep within your hearts, he is so ute! The devil horns rock. Rest in piece roscoe. I have a basset, she is only 1. called Izzy, i would be heart broken if anything happend to her. Roscoe is still here, xx

  • So touching....what a beautiful dog. I had one a few years ago and he died too and still missed him sometimes. Just got a beagle. Good Luck....

  • I am so sorry for your loss, what a handsome boy Roscoe was, I have a hound as well, Molly and they are such wonderful family dogs. Great tribute to Roscoe beautiful video, once again so sorry.

  • I forgot to tell you he also had died of seizures just like you're Bassethound, their both alike and had the same problems! :'0(

  • i also has a bassethound named Roscoe he died of surzers when he was a baby i never stopped crying my head off after that he died i loved him i was so sad he is always in my heart! R.IP. Roscoe!

  • Roscoe had a great life with you. He is sleeping in his rainbow bed by now, like a comic dog. My basset was a retired mom dog from breed mill, arrived 6 years old and passed away 11 years old by heart sickness,I love basset dogs.

  • The loss of a family member is always the toughest. Keep them alive in your heart and they will live forever. I've added a video response, a movie about my Katie, who passed away in 2005.

    Take care,

    BILL (AKA Houndyadoin?)

  • I lost my basset Four Years ago. After he died I couldnt stop crying as he had been with our family for 13 years. When I saw this video it brought me back to all the good times we had and I started crying all over again.Sorry about Roscoe.I see you lost a friend just like I did.

  • So sorry about your loss. I know what it's like to lose a basset that you love so much. I recently bought a new one. I have a short video of him playing if you would like to check it out.

  • I am so sorry about the loss of your dog. It's hard to lose one so much, because they are your family. I wish everyone could enjoy and have a dog like Roscoe, the world would be a better place.

  • i know what its ;like to lose a dog you love... especially a basset hound they are so loving and friendly. Im sue roscoe loved being around you. He Is Very Cute. R.I.P. Roscoe

  • Roscoe was a beautiful Basset!

He was loved and had a great life.

    He waits for you now.

  • Awe--this makes me cry! Our dogs are so precious. What a beautiful video. You could not have picked a better song or singer to convey such poignant emotion for your beloved basset.

  • Thanks for sharing Roscoe with us.I know the pain you are going through. I had to put my basset (Sherlock) down on 3-11-08. He was only 9 years old. He had some of the same symptoms Roscoe had. He was very tired and his gums were white. Took him to the vet and his blood count was way off. His immune system was attacking his red blood cells. They kept him a few days then sent him home for the weekend. I think they knew he did not have much time left. He passed onto the rainbow bridge in my arms.

  • Sorry to hear about losing Sherlock, but im sure he was happy to be spend his final moments at his home with his family. I still miss my Roscoe and think of him everyday.

  • beautiful video, beautiful boy !!

Where would we all be without our bassetts !!

he wil be looking down on you all

  • Thank you for sharing your sweet Roscoe with us. I can't stop crying... There is not much anyone can say or do to help lessen the pain you are feeling, but just know this... you are not alone in your grief for my heart as well as many others goes out to you.

  • Thank you for the kind words and it is getting easier, but there is still not a minute that goes by that I dont think about him.

  • So sorry for your loss. We also lost our basset Lucy who left behind her sister Penny.

  • How did Penny do long term? I ask because Petie is acting differently and we are giving him TONS of extra attention, but it is obvious that he misses his brother. Not sure how long this will last...we are thinking about adding a new addition to the family. A Great Dane puppy.

  • Well she did OK. She was very sad at first but with her age and her cancer we decided just to shower her with extra affection especially since she's so old.

  • when my cocker spaniel meah passed my basset sherlock was devastated. he bagan starving him self, wouldnt eat, wouldnt come out of bed, never played.... nothing. then we got our jack russel dexter and hes been much better. more lively and eats. the first week he was not accepting. but after about 3 months he became himself again. my heart still achs for meah and im hurting beside you with your loss, not a day goes by that i don miss her, but also that i dont regret the deccsision to out her down

  • Beautiful memorial to your precious dog, Roscoe. My husband and I have two rescue bassets, Doc and Mabel, and we can't imagine our lives without them.

  • I'm so sorry for your loss. My Harley Dog passed way that same day :( Wonderful video!

  • Beautiful video, thanks for share !

  • Im so sorry... lost my girl recently. its hard

  • I feel your pain I was about to cry I feel sorry for the Italian Greyhound it is hard when you know that there is only a few precious moments left.
