Oi, nerds are still a varied bunch. I'm the built like a six foot twig variety of nerd and proud of it. My "little" brother however is a devoted martial arts practitioner and nearly twice my weight due to his body building. After coming back from the gym however he is as nerdy as they get I tell you. D&D, Sci-Fi boxsets, shelves of manga and anime figurines, games, posters and a table of electrical components and DIY gadgets.

Neither of us get dates though. Your still right there. '-'

The mechs in mechwarrior were never overpowered or too fast.. they had one option or the other!! Been playing since Mechwarrior 1 and also read comics etc, its also a physical war game as well.. some mechs are lightweight, maneuverable with lots of jump jets, others are tanks with lots of armour and weapons and slow maneouverability. I LOVE MECHWARRIOR and for ME 'MW2' WILL ALWAYS BE MECHWARRIOR 2!!!! 1996 represent

Mechs looks awesome, but the mechwarrior designs are very impractical. Ignoring physics for a moment (50 ft high 2-legged robots just do not work) consider that pretty much all of the mechs put the pilot in an EXPOSED cockpit. On a ground vehicle. Versus other ground vehicles with computer guided stabilized aiming. If they were to fight even a modern M1A1 MBT the mech pilot would immediately get splashed. I think I prefer the Gears from Heavy Gear more. 20ft tops with hidden cockpit.

@warriorpoet2020 BT mechs are made of 31st century materials and carry equally advanced weaponry. So, theoretically, an M1A1 might dent a mech, but drop it with a head shot? Maybe in your campaign. Speculating about the engineering possibilities of the non-fiction 31st century seems a bit silly, but the authors of the BT universe did a great job creating a world and game mechanics that support the concept of Mech superiority vs tanks, which serves the purpose of being fun to play. :)

If my people have mechs i want in on the pilot program, and I love both types of mecha. Gundams are sleek and beautiful machines, while the battlemech is more applicable to reality. And never forget good old robotech as well. Id take a Veritech or LAM(land-air mech) anyday

Atlas is a big easy target and old school, if your going to have something big at least use a newer more deadly powerhouse, I mean the Fafnir alone can carry 2 heavy larger gauss cannons and that's just it main armament, Mix in missiles and pulse laser so on and it god.

The heavy Gauss I think can be replaced with 2 Heavy Ultra auto cannons.

Blood Aps is my fav tho so sleek and godlike

The age difference isnt as different as your trying to make out. Those same twelve year olds are still watching it. They're 22-27 now. @Buemmo Eh... I'm all for realism, but slow, heavy mechas would be more of a liability than an advantage. I'm not all for the super fast, completely unrealistic mechas, but I think Patlabor did it best. Kept the weapons completely real and authentic, but were light enough to run and be elusive.

I usually avoid piloting mechs that look humanoid in Mechwarrior 2/4. Really liked the look of the Crab when I first played MW2. Just wish it wasn't so limited...
