  • drums and bass sound better in PC, strings and dark feeling sound better in N64, i preffer the n64 version.

  • You made my day for today. I always loved the N64 remix because it feels a lot more mystic, dark and gloomy. The music of the N64 version along with the game is identical to the worst nightmare I ever had.

    Excellent work, and thanks!!!

  • @SVONKane

Glad you like it. I ripped the N64 music and left it on my site if you wanted the Mp3 files of Hexen 64. I do and I like them =D

  • I dunno. I still prefer the PC music. Might be cause I'm used to it though.

    Cool stuff though.

  • @CronyneWARE

I first played Hexen on N64 so I grew attached to it. =)

  • Excellent. I always loved the N64 version when it first came out, because of its music and 4 player co-op/Deathmatch with my brother and friends. this runs 100% in the newest Doomsday for me, so hurrah. The music's a little quiet, but that can be compensated for by lowering the sound-effect volume.

  • Perhaps you can leave installation instructions here for everyone else then.

  • I moved the .ZIP inside the .RAR into the Data/jHexen folder, and then created a new Auto folder, and dragged the Zip into it. I added the folder to my addons, and once in-game I set the audio to play from an external file, and it seems to work fine.

  • Does this work with Korax mod?

  • No cause Korax Mod uses a newer version engine version and as my previous comments explain this Music pack was made for Doomsday back in 2006. I've read you can still load external files in the newer DD versions but I can't get it to work.

  • yes it do XD

  • The N64 version of the Hexen music is a huge improvement of the original. I thank the creator for remaking the songs and you for uploading the video.

  • And for ripping them when nobody else would :p. I had to have them on my PC. The tracks are really good.

  • You should be able to port this for ZDoom use quite easily.

  • uhm.. okay.... if you say so.

  • Great job! It's good to know I'm not the only N64's music fan. :)

  • Thankx

  • k so... I found some stuff about it... I tried on the new betas 6 and 6.5 (newest), on 6 it mostly doesn't work with the sounds and on 6.5 your mod actually does work (all you have to do is the music folder zipped into the auto folder), but there's a bug now where only the intro music is played, the level musics give errors (and there are some other annoying bugs too). So all that can be done for now is waiting, I guess...

  • Oh well.

  • I'm not getting it to work, I already put the zip file on the data/jhexen folder and data/jhexen/auto folder, in every way I could think of, unzipping it, putting the Music folder directly on the folder without zip, etc... either way I don't get the music in game. BTW on audio it is checked External Files.

    Thx!

  • this was made for a dd version 3 years ago. i tried it recently and i dont know how to make it work on newer versions, sorry.

  • Ohh... hmm... I'll see if I get some of my spare time and I'll try to convert it for use with the newer versions if you wouldn't mind, then?

  • Good work, this adds another level of nostalgia to Hexen.

  • Thankx

  • ARGHHHH my doomsday music dosent work but the sound effects do. i hate it! anyone have any tips?

  • Try the DD forums.

  • Yeah, the n64 is a lot better, awesome music :)

  • yup

  • i've done some research and i found out that the nintendo 64 version had different artists providing the music. the original PC version was by kevin schilder and he made enhanced versions for the PSX and Saturn ports. the nintendo 64 version is credited to 3 other people who must have gotten permission to redo his music. i do like the 64 versions a lot too though

  • Interesting. They did make the tracks have the same composition but it just sounds a tad different.

  • it is pretty interesting. essentially there are 3 soundtracks for the game... PC, PSX/SEGA and the Nintendo 64 version. LOL i have too much time on my hands for knowing all this. by the way, you might want to check out the soundtrack i uploaded for the game "necrodome"... its by Kevin Schilder again and it sounds very hexen-ish

  • that pc version sounds like the enhanced version (the shit version), and the n64 music just sounds so incredible! i like it a lot! and i like the n64 title screen better too.

the original pc music sounded better, i remember it so well, from when i played these classics on my dads old 24RAM 100mhz pentium 1 computer!

well hey, thanks for showing me this video acidglow ;)

    it's awesome!

  • No problem. Thankx for the comment

  • I downloaded your mod, and extracted the .ogg files, and opened them with Media Player Classic. Now I'm just listening to the soundtrack.

Thank you for making this available!

  • No problem but if you wanna listen to it for the music then the mp3 one would've been fine. The ogg format one is just for the Doomsday engine.

  • I have not been able to find a mp3 format version of the soundtrack, unfortunately.

  • ...It's on the site..

  • Very neat, thanks. Somehow I missed it when I first visited your site.

    Thanks again.

  • Hey man, awesome mod. In case you didn't fix the Desolate Garden music problem, I found out it's because the music file should be "blechr.ogg" rather than "belchr.ogg". I just thought I'd let you know on youtube in case you didn't get my email.

    Great work anyway!

  • 2 years later.. thankx :p

  • Thanks for download :-)

  • Okay.

  • n64 versions pwn :)

  • I downloaded your rip of the N64 soundtrack version. Thanks.

  • okay

  • I love Hexen, although took me time to like it compared to my Doom, Quake, and Heretic love. Where can i get this mod for the PC?

  • Try viewing my profile, it might get you somewhere.

  • this game is hella hard, man

  • I like the PC version. Is hardcore.

  • IMHO, which version of music is better can go either way. PC and N64 work in their own ways. PC seems to have more attitude while N64 relies on the "less is more" motif, and is more mysterious. We need to see this game, along with Heretic, Heretic 2, and Hexen 2 to be released on XBox Live Arcade, along with all of their expansion levels.

  • I agree the old N64 soundtrack is the best. When I played this on my N64 I had a killer sound system hooked to my TV. Made playing it awesome.

  • Nice!

  • hell yea that was the best fucken game back then no joke!

  • Yup

  • Hexen is on my top 20 favourite games. I try to finish it atleast once every year. I play it through Doomsday which lets me play in windows XP.

  • Good stuff

  • Hey i have doomsday aswell...But can you tell me how i play it through there cuz i can't figure it out!

  • Best to ask on the Doomsday forums.

  • HeXen still rocks to this day...

  • Didn't know that anybody still play this game. :X Dug the game yesterday up of my old N64-Games and started playing a bit and I solved the seven portals the first time without cheating. :D

  • Good job. :)

  • This is a fine video that you have here.

  • Thankx. I don't find alot of Hexen fans on youtube. o_o

  • Thank you for the Hexen 64 music as well.

  • Your welcome. It's good. =) *Crypt*

  • Yeah...not too many Hexen fans I see around here, Hexen is my favorite 2d shooter. I play it on zdoom or vavoom (on the korax mod)

You seem to like the same type of games I do.

  • cool

  • thankx.
