Nice set up I've just picked up one of these on 2.4 ghz as it is a lot cheaper than 5.8ghz...! This area is a bit of a mine field but some say you can fly on both 2.4 av and 2.4 transmitter as long as the camera is on when you bind in your radio....! But in the manual of the 2.4 fatshark it states 2.4 cam + 2.4 transmitter = crash....! think I might have to dust off me old 35mhz....! Hope this helps...!
You certainly know your stuff. Sounds like you have done lots of research. I am just thinking about the RC I should get. I was thinking about a Spektrum DXi6 or maybe the 8 ch one. 2.4ghz, but read that video should be on 2.4Ghz if possible. So was thinking about getting a Futaba FM, maybe 36mhz instead? So could use 2.4 for the video. Is that why you went with 5.8 for video because you had 2.4 for Radio? Much diff between 2.4 and 5.8 for video?
@Randwick5 The website where i got the FPV from said if you have a 2.4ghz radio you have to get the 5.8ghz fpv because if they are both the same the may cause interference between each other.
@Randwick5 Don't get the Futaba FM Radio that is old technology. Get the DX6i, its an awesome radio and if your going to play with FPV, get your setup on 1.3Ghz. even though 900mhz will give you ore range, the 1.3Ghz. will give you better video quality. Just get better antennas.
@tonybuitrago1 For FPV, the 'old FM technology" is far better than 2.4GHz. Especially the Dx6i. I had a Dx6i and it was junk past 800m. get a long range system (dragon link or similar), not some cheap short range 2.4 crap. My friend gets 2 miles on 72 MHz Futaba with no worries
Post continued... Clear? Breaks up? Does it come with an OSD? Lots of other questions, but that will do for now and looking forward to your test flight. Good luck.
@Randwick5 the picture is fairly clear the signal breaks up if it goes through walls (when i was testing it) but it should be fine in the air with nothing interfering. It does not come with OSD. The prices range from about $60 - $200 OSD. I'm thinking about putting a gyro in the plane to help keep it stable if there are strong winds. I also am going to get the FY21AP FPV Inertial Attitude Stabilizer it has OSD and lots of other cool features go on the internet and search bevrc thensearch FY21AP
Got a quick question. Does this version have pan/tilt with head tracking? If not will you use pan/tilt through the RC controller or just put the cam in a fixed position. Also what range are you getting with the 5.8ghz video? If you built a base station with the flat antennas would you connect that to where the antenna comes out from the goggles? How does the picture through the goggles look?
@Randwick5 The version does not have head tracking but you can buy that separate, the camera has pan/tilt servos installed, i'm not going to use the controller to pan tilt the fixed position is fine but i am going to buy head tracking in a few months, I haven't flown the the FPV on the radian yet but i read an a couple of websites that on a sunny day you can get up to about 500-600 meters in range but on a cloudy day it can be a little less. Im not sure about where you connect the patch antenna
Thanks for the info and looking forward to your next video and seeing it fly etc.. FPV Looks great.. Thinking about going to buy a Radian Pro to get started..
Hi and thanks for the video. Very interested to see your first flight! Where did you order this from? Expensive? What about the Teleporter version? Picture quality?
@Randwick5 I orded it from hobby king, the FatShark 5.8Ghz Telemetry System is $339.00 Australian dollars but if you keep the page with it open a while they will offer you a bit of a discount, The FatShark Pan/Tilt CAM is $49.20 Aus dollar, and shipping to Australia using EMS for me was $30.00. The picture quality of the camera is good but there are some cameras that have better quality but cost more and you have to solder the wires to connect it to the fatshark TX.
you can move the camera from goggles
